TPM 1.2 was NOT common when it was current. It was an extra module that mostly only business laptops got. TPM 2.0 is, as of right now, the minimum requirement for Windows 11.

Windows 11 reminds me a lot of that weird dual-screen phone that came out along with a updated Android launcher. I dont hate it, there are a lot of things I like but knowing Microsoft, I'm really on the fence. I kind of don't like how windows keeps trying to copy inferior products (like chromeOS), but if they actually do allow android apps to run (not holding my breath) that would be really cool because some of the minor issues I've had with windows 10 would disappear if I could just use the mobile version of the apps I use. Some apps don't scale or respond properly to that screen-splitting thing that windows has done since 8.
The UI of windows 11 was ported from another OS called Windows 10X which was designed for another dual screen device called the Surface Neo. Both were cancelled
Many MS Surface Duo owners love their device. It would be incredible if it allowed a dual boot option into Windows, but I don't think that's in the offing anytime soon.

An advantage for store on windows that I just realized although I still don't use the store much but I have to point this out, is that you can start the download for all the apps you'll ever want and let them download in a queue and they will install automatically, especially if you're busy, you don't have to wait for an installer to finish downloading then you come and go through it's setup before you're finally done and can use the software. It saves time, and if the windows store gets more good apps and include more popular freeware us use, it will be convincing to me.
9:20 I have a touchscreen laptop and it would be amazing to be able to run a few Android apps directly on my laptop. Also, in the past, Android studio has been a gigantic pain for developing apps on Windows. Maybe this is paving a way for a more "integrated" experience?

I also agree that I can't think of a lot of Android apps I'd want on my Surface Pro 7 but there is one that I've always wanted on my Surfaces (Surface Pro 2017 (5), 7 and Surface Book 3). And that is a good Kindle app. That will likely be the first Android app I download to my Surface :-)
No, there going to make Windows and Your Phone companion experience on Android even more seamless and feature packed in the future. I think this is the right way.
I think Windows believed that iPadOS 15 was gonna f*ck up their laptop/tablet hybrids and they put special attention on touch screens in this update and tried to make it feel like iPads.
Pads won't replace laptops or desktops. Pads are not for productivity. They are more like media consumption devices, note taking devices, reading PDFs. Bigger screens with full fledge keyboards are true productivity devices.
@@arvind31459 Microsoft is targeting that market with their laptop/tablet hybrids. That is surface laptops and other touch laptops. iPad is coming from a tablet to sort-of computer domain. That is where they do compete.

Surface book was too expensive given the technology went into it. So they came up with another lineup a classic laptop which is Surface laptop.
Well no because with iPadOS 15 Apple made it pretty clear that they don't see iPads as real (primary) productivity devices, that people should buy Macs first and buy iPads for the pen input etc (just look at what they showed with Universal Control in the WWDC Keynote this year) and actually I'm starting to believe that the whole reason they came up with "iPadOS" was just so that they can justify not putting every iOS feature on there, so that iPads are much more niche devices than iPhones and Macs.
How about this: how about they make another operating system just for the phone? You know, like how the iPhone doesn’t run on MacOS. If they actually want “better UI”, they should make separate interfaces to fit the different devices, instead of this bullshit middle ground that pleases no one. Microsoft got the PC interface perfectly fine back with Windows 95. I say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And if Bill Gates absolutely NEEDS to make another hundred billion dollars, they can try giving the phones they’re own system, so they don’t mess up everything for the rest of their customers.
for the record, TPM 2.0 is required but you can bypass that, but secure boot is a fundamental thing your motherboard must support it and the compatibility checker MKB talked about just let you know if your PC eligible or not but it will not activate the secure boot for you, you have to do it your self
Disappointed at this show so decided to draw your attention to some points: First and foremost, when a new version of an operating system arrives, drivers are the main concern. As for the UI, I would say ditching flat design after these years is a proper move. And how can you talk about something like windows store that have never used? Is lighter? Is it as stable as it is expected to be? The technical menu is confusing like in win 10? There are loads of questions that you don’t even bother to think about not some optional features like installing android apps or not …

Personally I don't give a damn about the app store thing, if the Amazon apps work then more power to them. Me being a student, there have been times where I wish I had a specific mobile app that I needed on my PC and had to go to my phone to get. The app gap on Windows was a generational curse. What other way were they going to have regular mobile apps running because devs have been made up their mind on whether they wanted to make apps for Windows or not.
One thing I'm excited for is better support for traditional win32 programs being available on the store and using it similar to a Linux package manager to get all your updates in one place
I feel different about the store. I've always been sideloading apps in Windows. I'd love to have everything downloadable from the Store. Like, Chrome, Steam, Epicgames Launcher, Discord, WinRAR, Notepad ++ and everything else. It would be really easy and very new to Windows yes but we've been doing that in our phones so why should it be any different in PCs.
@@GodisGracious1031Ministriesyeah I know. But the possibility of it all being downloadable from a store is what excites me so I'll use the Microsoft store is what I was trying to say. When the numbers grow, those developers will put their apps in the store.

I had a Windows 7 PC a long time ago, which was stolen from me (sad face) and didn't get another PC for many years. I skipped Windows 8 altogether (thank God) and now have a Windows 10 PC. I think getting apps from the online Microsoft Store should generally be encouraged, especially for stuff not from major software companies. First, you’re less likely to accidentally download an unofficial version of the app and infect your machine with malware. Second, stuff from the Microsoft Store is generally at least partially sandboxed, so it’s less likely to screw up your machine, especially your registry, and uninstalls are cleaner. Third, the apps will generally use the unified auto update system provided by the Microsoft store, so you don’t have a million auto update apps on your machine running constantly and periodically contacting the internet to see if an update is available.
"They needed simplification for people to know how to use it" - I knew how to use windows since the beginning of the OS. Seems that people today are much dumber then they were a few decades ago. As my friend said: "Every year phones are smarter, and people are dumber".
the most funny thing about the centered start button is, that it's not centered. the windows logo/start button is the start point of a centered task bar that ends with whatever program you added last leaving the button itself somewhere on the left side in the middle of nowhere.

what microsoft is trying to do is, creating a space for their launch of phone, then this phone would be running windows, then they will start shipping a thin kinda laptop, which only would have screen, touchpad and keyboard, but when you would connect it with the phone through the cable it would instantly turn into a laptop, in todays time i dont think there us need for two devices, when your phone is itself powersful enough to handle all those work load.
For me, it's pretty common to sideload apps on Android from the F-Droid store. There are many apps on the F-Droid repository that don't even exist on the play store (ignoring the fact that if you upload an app to the play store that google adds stuff to your app that the developer can't control).
if you have a motherboard for custom built PC from the past few years or so you most likely have Firmware TPM built into your bios. for AMD the setting is most likely called fTPM and Intel its called PTT
@Viorel Ianasi And it looking more like Microsoft added an arbitrary and capricious CPU ban, rather than merely making sure it wasn't something gutless like a potato from the pre-TPM-2.0-days. It doesn't look good to have at least almost 80 percent of CPUs banned by Windows 11. Even non-potatoes are in major trouble! This is not 1992-1997, where you normally had to change CPUs and motherboards regularly, because there were indeed fundamental compatibility issues. Back then, compatibility-wise, CPUs didn't age as well!
I think they should colour their icons. Specially in the settings menu. Because all of them look same at first glance. And it would be mush easier to find yellow half moon 🌙 icon to turn on sleep or focus mode. Instead only white icons.

When in touch screen:
1) Full screen Start Screen
2) Bring back swipe from the left to switch windows
3) Auto-hide (or completely hide the taskbar when in touch mode
4) Context menus should be larger when in touch screen but smaller when in desktop mode (instead of always larger like now)
5) Trouch Friendly versions of office, Windows explorer, and edge (but again only when in touch mode)
This would really make windows convertibles something awesome.
TPM 1.2 was NOT common when it was current. It was an extra module that mostly only business laptops got.
TPM 2.0 is, as of right now, the minimum requirement for Windows 11.
@Akhilesh Kumar Check your bios bruh for a setting call fTPM if you have a AMD Ryzen or if on Intel look for a setting in bios called PTT
@Akhilesh Kumar can you not read? for Intel look for a setting called PTT ..wtf man people need to read
@Akhilesh Kumar dude if you bought a CPU in 2020 it DOES support it most likely... maybe try to update your bios.. what CPU do you have? to be frank the real issue you are most likely having is you might need a better motherboard.. this why you shouldn't even skimp on motherboards lol
@@tohur DUDE. He said he BUILT his PC in 2020. If it was a 7th gen Intel, there will be no on-die TPM in the CPU! Only a (probably 2.0) TPM header on his motherboard. Except if the motherboard is a budget one because on those not even the header is soldered on!

Welcome to the return of Windows 8.1. I guess we wanted a touch screen interface all along.
It's a year old but now we need more videos with him like this. I don't want this video to end lol. That's how nice it is!
CPUs are the main Problem, minimum 8-Gen Intel required. MS looking into the 7-th Gen, to accept it or not.
TMP 2.0 is older than 3 years, Surface Book 1 has it built-in as a chip, but has the 6-th Gen Intel CPUs.
Pretty sure the 6000 series works. At least from what I heard.
tpm is not needed to install win 11 there are workarounds.... i activated the key with a 8 year old laptop
@@nareshfree " there are workarounds" for now
@@ncpolley Yes it does. MS says that 6-the Gen Intel will be reversed to Win 10 after official release of Win 11. I have Win 11 on the original Surface Book, that's 6-th Gen Intel.
I never thought I'd like this podcast so much!!!
I thought it looked familiar. I remember seeing Anthony from LTT review a demo of windows 10X.
Many MS Surface Duo owners love their device. It would be incredible if it allowed a dual boot option into Windows, but I don't think that's in the offing anytime soon.
Cool! Yeah, it looks like a neat little device. Ive just never has the chance to play with it. The original official Microsoft skin of Android looked sooooo much like an iOS to me that it bugged me. I was kind of hoping for something more windows-y.
@@sharkfintech5893 not sure that’s possible, I don’t think dual booting Windows for ARM and Android is something that has ever been done plus windows’ support for dual screen devices is not exactly optimal
Fun seeing David Imei back in front of the camera. Keep on hustling MK and DI
Running Windows 11 on 5000 series chip, and it's pretty darn smooth!
I don't get why it requires 8000 chips tho, it seems unnecessary
You: is windows 11 acting like a phone
Me: have you heard of windows 8?!?!
The android apps on windows is a huge deal for people like me who emulate android games on windows for a better experience than on phone.
Same here but I don’t think we will get the level of functionality that emulators offer for games
yes, technicly Android apps, but still the very limited Amazon store. Why?!?!?! If they will allow Android apps to run then the the whole freaking app store and not a third party store. I don't get it but that tracks for something Microsoft will do.
That quick settings menu looks almost identical to ChromeOS.
6:13 GNU/Linux users with package managers laughing in the background
Seriously. I was surprised when I found out how time-consuming and convoluted it was to download a damn Nvidia driver on Windows 10.
windows has a package manager winget that got added recently but I haven't seen anyone use it
I would run the Spotify android app. The windows version lags on startup regardless of what machine I’ve tried it on.
Also the mobile UI is much better than desktop + Desktop has in-app ad banners
Works great since i've installed an ssd

Short and fun. Great discussion!
I enjoyed this episode more, than with the other guy.
@robinbm553 Nah, the other guy just doesn't have the same energy that's compatible with Marques. Not a dig at him, I'm pretty sure he edits the pod, he's just not the best personality for a duo. Imo

I love style of MKBHD
It's amazing how they not once think about how great this would be with people with disabilities
I love the touch screen improvements! I've never used my Surface Pro 7 as much as I do now with the Windows 11 preview installed.
This guy I can listen to for long ... Even MKBHD seems scared he may say something to offend one of the big companies ...
Yeah but he always talked like this
This video is on my feed for the past 6 days so I had to watch it.
Windows phones are set to make a comeback . That's what this app store is all about
Hmm indeed, Windows Phones used to support Android apps as well
Fun idea, but Microsoft doesn’t seem to have this in mind
No, there going to make Windows and Your Phone companion experience on Android even more seamless and feature packed in the future. I think this is the right way.
Windows phones were very likeable though.

I think Windows believed that iPadOS 15 was gonna f*ck up their laptop/tablet hybrids and they put special attention on touch screens in this update and tried to make it feel like iPads.
Yes, iPads are in the competition.
@@utsah470 Surface lineup has varied devices from tablets to laptops, hub, book and duo. MS realised that tablets aren't for productive so they introduced a proper laptop.

A phone Windows 10 or 7... imagine trying to do anything with it.
Better UI should always be welcomed
How about this: how about they make another operating system just for the phone? You know, like how the iPhone doesn’t run on MacOS.
If they actually want “better UI”, they should make separate interfaces to fit the different devices, instead of this bullshit middle ground that pleases no one.
Microsoft got the PC interface perfectly fine back with Windows 95. I say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And if Bill Gates absolutely NEEDS to make another hundred billion dollars, they can try giving the phones they’re own system, so they don’t mess up everything for the rest of their customers.
for the record, TPM 2.0 is required but you can bypass that, but secure boot is a fundamental thing your motherboard must support it
and the compatibility checker MKB talked about just let you know if your PC eligible or not but it will not activate the secure boot for you, you have to do it your self
Disappointed at this show so decided to draw your attention to some points:
First and foremost, when a new version of an operating system arrives, drivers are the main concern.

I like the idea of centered task bar on ultrawides
I like Windows 11, It's a shame that I can't run it with my current laptop :(
One thing I'm excited for is better support for traditional win32 programs being available on the store and using it similar to a Linux package manager to get all your updates in one place
I've been using windows 11 for a while now and I really like the UI
Many things are getting worse.
Speaking only about the app store, I feel like I'm one of the few people who use it regularly. I had a Windows 7 PC a long time ago, which was stolen from me (sad face) and didn't get another PC for many years. I skipped Windows 8 altogether (thank God) and now have a Windows 10 PC. I go to the Store to find apps first, such as Spotify or Audible, then go to the websites if I can't find it.
It looks like phone? I thought it looked like a really sweet looking linux distro but with bloat lol
I have a pretty modern pc, but I had to tinker in my bios settings to make me Windows 11 compatible. I have a gaming PC but I am pretty new to building and pc stuff so it was quite scary going into my bios to make my pc windows 11 complient, but hey here I am now with official windows 11 running like a champ

It’s not acting like a phone. It’s acting like MacOS lmao.
So if your someone who uses the Microsoft eco system in the work place, this makes perfect scenes. disagree, even a techy like me, i really dont like to go into the BIOS, you can mess your pc up if u change something accidentally, Jen who needs a windows to do office work shouldn't have to know how to go into hardware settings and know what the confusing terms are for settings that could brick her pc.
its rightfully a scary place, it should be to an extent. computers aren't cheap, and they hold a lot of important information. you don't need to be poking around the brains if you don't have to. is it useful to learn? yes. does everyone need to know how? no.

I have a really bad time using my notebook on touch mode, because it doesnt work like a mobile phone or tablet.
For example: when you enlarge a photo in the watsapp app, you cant pinch to zoom in and out!
what microsoft is trying to do is, creating a space for their launch of phone, then this phone would be running windows, then they will start shipping a thin kinda laptop, which only would have screen, touchpad and keyboard, but when you would connect it with the phone through the cable it would instantly turn into a laptop, in todays time i dont think there us need for two devices, when your phone is itself powersful enough to handle all those work load.
Why don't you place a TV which shows the big waveform logo in the background, That way you can also mirror your laptop whenever required
Don't use the Windows App Store? How do you do your integrated Windows App updates? They all update through Windows App Store.

Many many laptops with windows have touchscreens today, Android apps were something always missing for me and some friends with windows tablets.
For me, it's pretty common to sideload apps on Android from the F-Droid store. There are many apps on the F-Droid repository that don't even exist on the play store (ignoring the fact that if you upload an app to the play store that google adds stuff to your app that the developer can't control).
I cant live without Tachiyomi.
Well made and I agree definitely, never used the app store.
if you have a motherboard for custom built PC from the past few years or so you most likely have Firmware TPM built into your bios. for AMD the setting is most likely called fTPM and Intel its called PTT
Is not the TPM that much, but the processor generation requirement (at least intel 8th gen / AMD Ryzen 2000).

WIndows has so many legacy functions, that newbies (who never used old windows OS) will never understand (like refresh desktop, safe mode, complicated taskmmngr, run software and etc). Good thing to know they started to shift towards more simplified OS, to get wider audience and get the gen z to use windows.
I agree with you both, they are making Win 11 look more like portable or phone. My Laptop has touch screen, but my desktops do not. Problem with my computers, none of them pass the Win 11 hardware - does it work test. Time shall tell if Microsoft downgrades the specs to better work on older computers. I know if you use CMND scripts you can possibly make Win 11 work on allot of computers. But will you be able to get any upgrades?
