Last year, I was putzing about on Craigslist here in Vancouver and came across a Piano 4. My wife is a pianist but her old upright resides at her parents place on Vancouver Island. And we live in a small apartment. Needless to say, we contacted the seller and were at his house inside of 2 hours. She tried out the piano (never thought that a digital piano would be anything like her real one), and straight up gave the man his price. He gave us the stand, and the pedals and a gig bag, too. She's never looked back, and I enjoy plinking around on it too. Absolutely brilliant instrument, and we'll be keeping ours for forever. And Jack? You are a stellar human being!
So I recently bought a Yamaha CP-88 as a dedicated stage instrument for solo piano gigs and live streams. The keybed felt amazing, but I found myself using only two pianos consistently. The rest of the sounds remained forever unused. The effects also seemed limited at that price point. So I was looking at Piano 4 for the interchangeable sounds, but didn't see enough there to justify the price difference. Especially since the Yamaha had dual, even triple layers. Welp... Piano 5 gets announced with independent dual layers and even more effects. Sold. Can't wait to get my hands on one, but they're all on pre-order. :)
@@stevenhartwell Eh, I never use any organs, pitch modulators, etc. in my pieces. Stage would be ideal for that, no doubt! I'm just looking for something that really makes me feel and hear like I'm playing a real piano - or as close as we can get.

I’m trying to decide between the two (Grand and Piano 5), I live 2 hours from a store that has them both on display, I’m trying to make time to go. A comparison between the two would be great. I’m wondering if the key action on the grand would tip it for me, I’m leaning towards the piano 5 at the moment.
With Nord piano it’s all about the feel. The sounds are great. It’s the action that in the past has been lacking. I know that’s subjective but if the keys do not snap aback fast enough like on a quality grand it’s a deal breaker for me
Looks awesome and sounds awesome. I'm mainly interested in the ability to do single note trills/FAST single-note repetition as you briefly demonstrated there (like only a real Grand Piano with maintained repetition springs can do). How does this ability truly pan out? And, how does the keybed compare with Nord's own "Stage Grand" Piano (at near the same price of the 5) in this manner?
How do you like the piano vs the grand or the stage? I’d love a real feeling keybed. Also do you think these new features mean a Grand 2 is already on the horizon?
Neither one got a real feeling action. Fatar action is awful. The Grand features a Kawai action though but it feels terrible to be honest. Kind of RHIII version but cheaper, lighter and worse overall. NP5 action not good either.
@@mlgl9728 To me they don't feel horrible. The Nord Grand Action is quite good and if pianist have to choose a digital piano, they very often will choose the Grand.
