I agree with Murakami, having worked the graveyard shift stocking shelves in a 24-hour supermarket. We could sort of tell time by the kinds of people in the store. Insomniacs, teens with the munchies, reverse commuters, coming home from the city by train at 5 am. It was a more informal, laid back time, with few managers in the store. The transition to daytime, around 7am, was shocking.

lately i've been hearing people express that they thing a gathering of shadows is the weakest book in the series, so i'm glad to hear you say you enjoyed it! it was my favorite, i think, but i love magical competitions, so that definitely played a big part. also, i just have to compliment your eloquence when you talk about books, it really helps those of us looking for recs. as always, appreciate you

I read The Phantom of the Opera today. The copy was from the library and only 83 pages, so a lot of the story was probably cut out. I’m definitely going to buy my own copy without anything cut out. It truly is an amazing book. I can see why you love it 😊❤️

Sherman's _Memoirs_ contains maps. West Point ofc is an engineering school, and looking at his hand-drawn maps one immediately understands the close relationship between the martial studies and engineering. Grant's _Memoirs_ , a well-know classic, also has hand-drawn war maps. You might be doing yourself a favor to look at one or both. Thx for the video - enjoyed.

Olga Tokarczuk is as biological as lyrical in her writing. She elevates the ordinary to the level of wondrous and brings the transcendent onto your plate with a simple, blunt statement for easier digestion. Feel lucky to be Polish and read her first hand!

Hey em! I really enjoy your videos! I wanted to ask you something. In one of your vlogs you said you would like to annotate your new copy of wuthering heights. I was hoping you'd be willing to film it , and not just like I do that that and that more like a walkthrough (if you don't mind ofc!) It would be really appreciated Thank you!! xx

You should read 'A Bed for the Night' by David Rieff. It touches on many of the humanitarian crises and wars of the world and it really exposes how convoluted and screwed up these are.

I know this is like a five month old video, but when you are reading about the Civil War you have to consider who the author is. The reason is that in America, depending if you are in the South or North, you will be taught two different stories. Like in the South, the Civil War about states rights. However in the North, it is about slavery. Bill O'Reilly isn't my favorite guy since he is on Fox News and that is a Republican/Conservative news outlet and chances are that book was quite biased. Also, I always forget you aren't American, so when you were talking about the Vietnam War and how shocked you were by the Presidents' response to it, it made me laugh. Just wait until you read in depth about the AIDS crisis, you will want to bring Reagan back from the dead and kill him.
