Crazy how Nintendo managed to completely turn around the horrible launch of the 3DS to the point where there are people who are surprised when you tell them about it. Here's what Nintendo probably should have done to fix the Wii U. They should have had a built-in ethernet port discontinued the 8 GB model kept 32 but made models with even a larger storage. They should have put out games on the Virtual Console at a much faster rate than they did and they should have had more games for the Wii be downloadable to play at the very minimum they should have had all first party Wii games available for download. GameCube Virtual Console would have done wonders as well.
It's kind of annoying seems the same third party Developers who claim that the Wii U was too weak that games that release on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 were too intense for the Wii U but the same Developers a decade later are putting PS4 games on the switch.
The wii u is effectively a souped up gamecube and it shows, while the GPU on it is really impressive, better than both the PS3 and 360, it had basically switch level graphics, it suffers from having a painfully slow cpu with an outdated architecture, very hard to develop for, and even worse to optimize properly, the switch just uses the same chip you would find on any generic android tablet, literally, its not the best performer, but its extremely well documented and easy to develop for.
@@mactep1 But the Wii U has the better games in my opinion. Nintendo Land, Wii Party U, Game & Wario, Zelda Wind Waker HD, Yoshi's Woolly World, Batman Arkham City, Mass Effect 3, Splinter Cell Blacklist and so on.
@@Masters-hq1lz Not saying it doesn't, but the switch simply has way more 3rd parties, its not really that much better graphics wise, but its just way simpler to develop for.
I bought a practically new one from a friend for 90 with 3 games, ordered a larger battery for the gamepad for 15 and a wiimote with nunchuck for 30. Can’t wait to hack it and have thousands of fun games at my disposal. I had missed out on the Wii mostly.

Ironically, what is regarded as one of its best features, retro-compatibility with the wii, is arguably one of the main things, alongside marketing, that killed it, since to maintain it, nintendo needed to keep using the same outdated PowerPC 750 architecture they had been using since the gamecube (also found on the imac G3), making it painfully slow, CPU wise, a problem nintendo tried to solve by packing in an really impressive GPU, this made it extremely hard to optimize for and caused many third parties to either not take proper advantage of it or to drop it entirely. The storage options also both sucked, 8 vs 32gb is effectively 0 games vs 3 games, why the didn't just put a cheap HDD on it instead of emmc is beyond me.

The Wii U had 4 new franchises (Nintendo Land, Captain Toad, Splatoon, and Mario Maker) while the Switch only has 2 worse ones (1-2 Switch and Arms)

But the handhelds always do well. Even when the GameCube wasn’t doing the best the GBA sold insane amounts. Same can be said about the 3DS.

I barely see any PS4 or PS5 level games on the Switch anymore. No Elden Ring, no COD, no RDR2, etc. The only real multiplats are indie games
