Drought labels these Ohio counties as natural disaster area

  • Twenty-two Ohio counties have been declared a primary natural disaster area due to drought, according to the United States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency. That includes ten counties from Central Ohio.

    I have a friend that farms in Ohio. He got one quarter inch of rain in 90 days. He disked 200 acres of beans and 100 acres of corn. Total loss.

    People ask how climate change will impact them here, awat from the coast. This is how. This could become not only normal summer for us but worse every year unless we make the necessary changes. It's never been just theory. It's real and it's here.

      What 'changes' would you suggest? No mechanized farming? No fertilizer? I will bet you are unaware that the feedstocks for anhydrous ammonia and urea are natural gas....
