- Is golf's Patrick Reed a cheater? Watch this thoughtful back-and-forth between @bigboypantsgolf and @creasergolf during a golf UA-camr interview discussing the merits of cheating allegations against Patrick Reed when he brushed the sand while in a sand trap at the December 2019 Hero World Challenge and did not assess himself the requisite two-stroke penalty when it occurred. Following the completion of Reed's third round, he was penalized two shots for improving his line of play, and there was video evidence to support the ruling. Can we bring some finality to the Patrick Reed "cheater" claims?
The penalty occurred on the par-5 11th hole during Reed’s third round at Albany Golf Course in Nassau, Bahamas. What many do not recall is that Patrick Reed was actually leading the tournament at 12 under par as he was preparing to play his third shot from a “pretty good footprint” buried lie in the waste area when cameras showed him brush back sand, not once but twice, from directly behind the ball with his club after address.
Patrick Reed apparently had a 5-minute conversation with rules officials in the scoring tent after the round to discuss the matter. Reed emerged to discuss the matter with the media and cited a lack of intent, as though intent has a bearing on rules violations.

If he moved sand once benefit of doubt but he moved sand with different clubs you could see the difference before and after hit ball. And imbedded ball he could have called a Marshall right away but he did not. As soon as he saw lie he started asking did it bounce ball was in thick downhill lie were he dropped was flat you could see he planed to get Marshall to go his wat the repay showed it bounced
Bunch of nut cases that think Reed did not cheet they must be the same. Commercials are important for paying for players paycheck.
The violation was clear, it appears the controversy is really more about how Reed portrayed the situation to the public after he left the scoring tent - it's your opinion whether that was disingenuous or not.
