It's sad that today, we're no longer hear like the 80 music especially this music. It brings energy, motivation, and positivity. Also, it lets you optimistic all the time. I wish nowadays musicians, composers, vocalist learn from the 80s.
Is on Voltron Legendary Defender (Netflix series) levels, is really dark for children. Is clearly for teens and young adults even for today. Someone revive it!
I loved this cartoon when I was a kid. It was so ahead of its time. A cartoon with a post-apocalyptic theme like this would never get over with kids today.
Believe it or not, this show was co-developed by Babylon 5 and Sense8 creator J Michael Straczynski, he decided to leave after producers drastically altered his concept and direction for the show. But some of the bleaker realistic themes of his work stayed behind.
J Michael Straczynski actually worked on a few 80s cartoons. Only ones I can think of at this time is "Real Ghostbusters" and "Jayce and the wheeled warriors"
this old cartoon i have been looking for long time cuz this intro music it's keep it in my head since i was 3 or 4 years but finally and at last found this cartoon on google image ^^
This cartoon is more relevent today than it was, back in 1987. This is also one of the realistic and grown-up of cartoons, considering the miliatary and terrorist settings. I recommend this toon to anyone.
I will never grow tire of hearing this intro! I'd watched this series when I was a kid, and I'd thought it kicked ass! If they put this series out on DVD, I'll buy it ASAP! Great animation, great characters, great story! Love it! :)
This was one of the first shows I saw from way back then. Not many people remember this show. It's very rare and obscure compared to other 80s cartoons that are more remembered. But Spiral Zone was one of my favorite shows from way back.
Agree! Where I lived at, it was the first cartoon to air weekday mornings, like at either 5:30 AM or 6 AM .I had a buddy who had to take the city bus from the northern part of town, so he'd have to get up early to get ready. He'd watch Spiral Zone while he ate breakfast, then headed off to catch the bus, just to make it to school on time. He lived by my school when the semester started, but then his dad got a job up north, so the family moved up there. They wanted him to finish the school year off. So he had to take the city bus. He got me into the series. Great times!
80's toons had some of the coolest looking vehicles ever from the Thundertank to those crazy monowheel cycles in Spiral Zone. Hell even M.A.S.K had cool vehicles, just cause the looked common and then BAM your motorcycle is a helicopter now. They always had some cool stuff to drive in 80's toons.
Can't even hate, although I think a lotta current day cartoons are better than 80's cartoons, I will never argue that 80's cartoons have some of the best intro's ever. The guitar solo in the silver hawks opening still brings me to tears 20something years later.
80s cartoons intros (and some early 90s ones) undeniably kick the shit out of any other intros ever made. Ben 10 can't rock the guitar like Spiral Zone.
I used to watch this a whole lot on The Fun Factory btw '92-94. I think most episodes were about the evil boss trying to poison people's drinking water with some substance that turned them into mindless/brain-dead humans he could control. I would always hear the end of the theme song in-between commercials -"Spiral Zone". The early '90s was a great combo of good '80s cartoons & newer ones from the '90s. 🥰
Hahahahaha, I remember when I watched this back in the day I thought the main villain was called 'Overload'. I was like, 'Overload? What kind of name is that?' Then I was like, 'Ohhhhh, Overlord!' Good times.
"The year 2007 . . . Earth is under seige by the powers of the destructive energy force known as the Spiral Zone. Created by the twisted mind of Overlord, a renegade scientist, the Zone turns its innocent victims into mindless zombies. Enter the Zone Riders, an elite force of specially equipped international militia. The Zone Riders are Earth's only hope against Overlord and the deadly Spiral Zone!" - Tv promo for the show
G.I Joe, Transformers, Challenge of The Gobots, Voltron, Thundercats, SilverHawks, Tigersharks, Master of the Universe, M.A.S.K, Centurions and Spiral Zone The Best 80s Cartoon Good vs Evil
I was so addicted to this damn Cartoon lol.. the pity is I really didn't realize it in that time.. now I miss it, I wouldn't mind to watch it again heh..
I remember one episode where they completed a mission and were celebrating a birthday and one of the guys is seen crying in the barracks and you’re told that it’s also his son’s birthday that day and he probably has no clue because he’s trapped somewhere in the zone. Even as a kid that broke my heart. Some of these cartoons didn’t pull punches even back then.
Loved this show. Only in my adulthood now do I realize...this show was very dark when you compare it to the cartoons of the day. The villain had already won! And now, only a small group stands in his way of total domination. And the victims number in the millions. They really fight with nothing but hope. It was a refreshing change of pace for the whole "Foil the bad guy's plan today" story we have been so used to. A live action miniseries remix would do this show true justice in my opinion.
I just noticed that this whole cartoon series is like the Uber-Prequel to the whole Resident Evil enterprise. They should really have kept this cartoon or at least bring it back so everyone can see how ahead of their times these cartoons really were.
this was probably one of the more interesting cartoons because it was set in a time when most of the earth was already conquered in a sense that the bad guy used towers to turn all the people into mindless zombies but they never finished it .....at the end they could've found a way to destroy all the towers at once
I miss Saturday morning cartoons they use to have disney one Saturday morning and I use to witch it I was 30 years old but I like it I wish it was still on today and I also which sat morning cartoons win I was a kid I was born and the 80' to good cartoons back then
This as well as the Silverhawks theme, r just the best ever theme songs writen for an anime, cartoon, movie or serries! in general. Lyrics rythm just masterpieces both of them.
I don't know what it is about the concept of this show but it's so engaging and successfully gives you a feeling of hopelessness. I read it was on for 5 years which is phenominal especially for a cartoon.lol
most of the popular 80s - 90s cartoons were animated in japan thats why if you look back at some of them you will see that they have a very similar style so in a very loose sense they are anime

The solo singer is totally selling it. Probably has tears running down while he belts it out, ha ha. Love this song.
😂😂
Also sounds like Trey Parker
@Shin Shaman ain't that the truth
Your projecting mate, youre greeting while writing eh?
Hahaaaaaa! Miss this era! You dont get a fraction of this emotion these days! Good times!
This was a dark cartoon for it's day
knight2976able it's kind of dark, even for today.
Is on Voltron Legendary Defender (Netflix series) levels, is really dark for children. Is clearly for teens and young adults even for today.
Someone revive it!
@@lrc3847 Yeah I would love a movie based on this IP. As a series, it was repetitive; but I think it could work as a movie today.
@@ruzaroos Or how about a shorter series. Just 24 chapters, but very well condensated in order to avoid the repeteance.
I get chills when he says "Earth's last chance"
You are right
Against the spy-rell-zooooooone!!!
This is exactly what i thought the future looked like in 1985 . . .
I 85 i thought this is real
It is if youre a commie
Battle unicycles are apparently the future of warfare.
God I miss the 80's.
I loved this cartoon when I was a kid. It was so ahead of its time. A cartoon with a post-apocalyptic theme like this would never get over with kids today.
This song is better than the music I hear nowadays. 80's baby
I literally learned what 'consequences' meant by watching this intro as a kid lol
You gotta hand it to 80's, they do make awesome cartoon intros! Totally rock and roll!
I'm so glad I was born in 1980...
me too, really miss my childhood year.
As long as we had fun with it! :))
Chalkaspis
Yeah, even the B-Shows rocked. And hey, after intros like that, who could not like Rock and Metal nowadays?
\m/
Jupp
Why is this song so fucking good. Oh my god.
Broseph Stalin ikr
"Darkness has fallen on the victims of the Zone..." : (
i remember this song loud and clear i last heard it 1993 lol. loved these bikes as a kid lol

Megared82 He could deliver a complete series if Netflix or HBO gives the chances?
They can never remake this show. They'll fuck it up.
I wouldnt mind a direct to video movie to finally finish the story.
Lets face it Hollywood could f*ck up a wet dream
In fact ONLY Japanese can remake it without ruining it. Since the idea is from Japan.
@@lrc3847 the original toylike was but the cartoon was an American production with episodes being OUTSOURCED to Japan
The theme sounds a lot like a Judas Priest song.
Almost can hear to Halford screaming: "Spiiiiiiral Zooooooone!"
+Fenrislord The bits about being heroic make it rather Maidenish, too.
Honestly, Survivor could have written this and made a hit single off of it.
Also sounds like Trey Parker from South Park
Is it wrong that I wasn't alive in the 80's yet I think this looks badass
Zachery Rancano No, you are enlightened
Zachery Rancano Nothing wrong with that!
Zachery Rancano Is it wrong that I wasn't alive in the 40's yet I think Citizen Kane is a great film?
Zachery Rancano Welcome, my brother. Bask in the glorious nature of the 80's cartoon intros.
Dogmicspane Good point
"surrender or pay the consequences" used to give me the goosebumps
Overlord!!!
It still does, to me.
Ahh, i remember watching this and M.A.S.K everyday in the afternoon 20 years back. Great times!
"We will fight on our honor, what is right we'll defend!" Damn that line still gets me pumped after all these years.
Another of the rare darker toned gems. Liked it when WGN (Chicago) had this on a Sunday mourning block along with Brave Star.
The rides on this show were so ridiculously cool. I totally loved this show growing up and watching this brings a lot of intense nostalgia
Best damn 80s intro. I wish a "full" version existed.
Holy shit! I didnt think i'd ever see this again. I still have the toys haha!
I watched this cartoon every morning at breakfast before I went to school. I remember how depressing this show was.
This show was the first time I remember being afraid of something - the psuedo-zombies freaked me out.
that was the best days of my life when i saw it i was 10 years old this show was in saudi channel 2 i wish it came back
this old cartoon i have been looking for long time cuz this intro music it's keep it in my head since i was 3 or 4 years but finally and at last found this cartoon on google image ^^
brings me back...good ol days....awesome stories and banging theme songs...Kids today have definitely missed out.
This cartoon is more relevent today than it was, back in 1987.

When you gotta fight against evil Freddie Mercury you better have some damn good heroes.

There will NEVER be a decade that had such an influx of toys and cartoons that defined a generation like the 80’s!
Those 80s laser sound fx tho

Best intros.. X men 97, Attack on Titan first season, Sprial Zone
80s cartoons intros (and some early 90s ones) undeniably kick the shit out of any other intros ever made. Ben 10 can't rock the guitar like Spiral Zone.
One of the best 80ties cartoon intros ever! And there are lots of good ones too.
This show came on at 7:00 am on channel 50 in Washington DC in 1987. I used to watch it faithfully.
Its like Laser tag...TAKEN TO A HIGHER EPIC LEVEL. Thanx heaps. I loved this cartoon when I was 12
OMG! OMG! This intro track went hard.........

Rindanse oh ustedes pagarán las consecuencias luchan poderosos guerreros combaten contodo gran poder zona espiral " a luchar".
little known fact: The zones first started out as safe spaces....
Can't do that with today's cartoons, God forbid some kid have feelings and cry over a sad moment that helps him grow emotionally.
Loved this show. Only in my adulthood now do I realize...this show was very dark when you compare it to the cartoons of the day. The villain had already won! HOLY SHIT!!! O_0 *jaw drops* i forgot all about this cartoon! ^_^ it was a wierd cartoon to me as a kid but i still watched it

FYI, In 1988, DC Comics published a four-issue mini-series based on the Spiral Zone cartoon.
(...) To fight the Spiral Zououououououone! (epic 80's echo)
You really don't see cartoons like this anymore.
You know you play too much Destiny if the first line (after the title) makes you immediately think "Respawning Restricted".
This as well as the Silverhawks theme, r just the best ever theme songs writen for an anime, cartoon, movie or serries! in general. Lyrics rythm just masterpieces both of them.
Man everything was rocking back then.
These cartoons rocked
Great cartoon and kick butt theme. One of the best cartoon themes of 1980's
Man I miss this show
The most 80s thing you've ever heard other than space stallions
How many post apocalyptic cartoons are airing in the afternoons today? Zero. The 80s is by far the golden age of cartoons.
my mind just got destroyed again by the past IN A AWESOME WAY YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA SPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRAAAAAAAAAAAAAL ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE
Itunes must start puting this stuff up for pay
(singing) SPY RAL ZONE
I don't know what it is about the concept of this show but it's so engaging and successfully gives you a feeling of hopelessness.
I read it was on for 5 years which is phenominal especially for a cartoon.lol
Thank you I was looking for this show for ages
watched this cartoon back in 2002
one of the best for me, especially the song, amazing
Awesome Show!!
WOW...I remember watching this reeeeally early in the morning while getting ready for school.
Good gods I loved this cartoon,
I heard Overlord was considered the smartest cartoon villain of the 80s
So glad they haven't made a movie for this and Voltron yet. Hollywood has fucked up most 80s cartoon adaptations.
Yeah no way can the no fuck given 80's cartoons be merged with the over sensitive crybaby safe space crap of today.
they are doing a shared universe with visionaries, mask, centurion, micronauts and transformers.......
If you're Zimbabwean then u definitely know about this cartoon!!! Takes me back #ZBC
i loved this cartoon it was one of the best
Damnit Arin...
It's so good though.
A dark themed cartoon with an amazing rocking intro... like MASK
@princedargon prince, never ever doubt the power of nerds.
It was charming 80's 👌
GAH hearing those last 3 words is like being punched in the guy by a fist made of awesomeness
one of the Best's
Kickass intro AND Freddy Mercury as the villain!
most of the popular 80s - 90s cartoons were animated in japan thats why if you look back at some of them you will see that they have a very similar style so in a very loose sense they are anime
I agree, excellent vehicle design.
this cartoon had great toys
this song is rad
"The year 2007. Earth is under seige by the powers of the destructive energy force known as the Spiral Zone. Created by the twisted mind of Overlord, a renegade scientist, the Zone turns its innocent victims into mindless zombies. Enter the Zone Riders, an elite force of specially equipped international militia. The Zone Riders are Earth's only hope against Overlord and the deadly Spiral Zone."
i wanted these toys so bad. i think i could only afford 1 when i was little. they were hard to find too.
Awesome cartoon.....
