As someone who does know the lore...and sometimes gets it wrong (because it gets hella complicated. This is also true for the Honkai Impact lore content creators who are far more accurate and knowledgeable than I am), Honkai Impact lore is a bit hard to sift through.
It's not just lore from the main story, there's also the manga, the side stories of the game, and some unfinished/untranslated visual novels. The Honkai Impact official YT channel has summaries of the lore (Genshin hasn't done this yet), but it's only lore that's somewhat limited and not much context.
The game touches on the multiverse and it goes HARD on it. How hard? Fucking quantum physics uni course shoved into the game's dialogue, making topics such as "how to escape from a pocket dimension" unnecessarily lengthy and extremely convoluted.
I'm always happy to explain the lore as best as I can. However, if you start asking questions about the Sea of Quanta or the Honkai Impact multiverse, I'll just ignore your question and move on to other parts of the lore because I don't wanna pull out my quantum physics textbook and explain to you the specifics.
Now if you want the lore people, I can recommend you *IslandXD*, *OofieTV*, *HomuLabs*, and maybe *Nohr* too since both of you share the same energy.
honkai impact story is amazing, they have almost 40 chapters in game, have manga, visual nobels, animations, lore vids, this is a gold mine of content for you guys if chose to jump in this rabbit hole, you will cry depress and enjoy 100% recomended

MiHoYo used to be very blatant about how Kiana being gay was. They have released official manga depicting that, yes, Kiana is very much a lesbian and has eyes only for Mei....though she isn't much above being attracted to other girls.
Even early HI3rd Kiana wasn't as gay as her GGZ predecessor who was just unhinged lesbian pervert (of course it's not her main characteristic but still to say they was blatant in GGZ it's like saying nothing)

Lack of 'Reburn', 'Bronya', and the 'Chapter XI-EX' animations hurts the most. But if you add the captain centre, the 'what is honkai' would be even more of a priority than Mei's one.

The different factions are explained by the honkai operations center video: introduction to the honkai verse. All the honkai operations center videos are good to watch if you want the summarized lore + honkai chronicles. These summarize the happenings in the video game.
In short you have:
Honkai - evil, creates monsters and herscherrs, wants to destroy humanity
Schicksal - actually good, just defends the innocent against the honkai, but serves as an antagonist, because it's led by evil rat man otto apocalypse (who helps kiana get possessed by the honkai cause he's scheming). Kiana, Mei and Bronya go to school and train here when the story starts (before otto starts being all evil, they leave after, becoming outlaws)
Anti-entropy - looks evil at first, because it's led by scheming Cocolia (who led the orphanage Bronya and Seele are from --> Seele went ~missing~ after an experiment by cocolia, Bronya left soon after, becoming friends with Mei and Kiana), but it is actually good and the main characters (Mei, Bronya, Theresa (the principal of the training school from Schicksal) and Kiana (later on when she's no longer possessed) join forces to take on otto
World serpent - evil, the one Mei joins to save Kiana. They try to stop the honkai at all costs (which they of course go too far with)

Unlike RWBY (where there is a pro-Grimm faction), there are no pro-Honkai factions. All of them are against the Honkai, they just have their own agendas to deal with.

Factions:
Honkai: the natural disaster that wants to kill everyone and it can be used as energy(you can think about it as Nucleus energy, people can use it but it harms human body if you get too close) Herrschers is a form of Honkai. People corrupted by Honkai becomes herrscher they can only recall bad things happening to them and owns super power. However for some unknown reason some Herrscher keep their rationalities as a human. For example Raiden Mei is Herrscher of Thunder, Kiana Kaslana is Herrscher of Void, Bronya Zaychik is the Herrscher of Reason(she create matters through imagination)
All three big factions of the human side are for fighting Honkai:
Anti-Entropy(AE) led by Welt Yang and Bronya Zaychik kinda belongs to, uses technological weapons
World Serpent led by Kevin Kaslana studies what the former Era(a strong Era that had done many studies on Honkai before losing) planned to do. However they’ve done many bad things in the process of fighting Honkai. Raiden Mei joined World Serpent
Schiksal led by Otto Apocalypse uses valkyries(human soldiers that is OK to Honkai energy in some degree but they can still be hurt if they overuse Honkai energy) to fight Honkai. Murata Himeko, Theresa Apocalypse, Kiana Kaslana are from Schiksal
St Freya High: a school under Schiksal for training valkyries. Theresa is the headmaster, Himeko is a teacher, Kiana, Mei and Bronya are student of St Freya
Honkai isn’t a natural disaster it’s a (formerly) sentient form of imaginary energy. Honkai doesn’t want to kill anything, it is a pruning program for the Imaginary Tree that kills off civilizations that don’t have the qualifications to ascend.
Herrschers can become “good” because of the Curtain of Ego, which Elysia established when she died in the previous era.

So to clarify some things, herrschers are generally women infected and taken over by honkai energy only to gain control over a concept. Some simple like Wind or Thunder (Mei), some more complex like void (Kiana), and some more abstract like reason (Bronya). However, pretty much all our characters are able to control it at this point. In this case, Kiana was the herrscher of void.
Seele has dual personalities, both named Seele though the fan name for the red is Veliona.
Also Otto Apocalypse is a 500 year old guy. Dude's whole motivation is trying to bring back Kallen Kaslana, a woman he saw all the beauty in the world in, through any means necessary (cloning, genocide, ripping a hole in space time, etc.)

just want to mention the first animation you guys watched does not happen until later in the story. but yeah if you have the context of it, it hits harder (talking as someone who's been playing the game since 2018 and is caught up with current story). it is interesting to see if others who haven't played it can get enough context from just the animations though xD
By the way, Honkai Impact and Honkai Star Rail are directly connected to one another. All Hoyoverse games have a connection of somekind including Genshin.

I can only actually watch a small bit of this because these are almost all narrative spoilers for me XD. Hope you enjoyed the journey, yeah the RWBY comparisons are apt at least as far as the foundation of the story goes, but I dunno how that holds as it moves forward, at least not yet.
The Game Story is written well enough that watching the Short Animations and the Honkai Chronicle Shorts wouldn't affect your experience Playing the Game and Immersing in it's Story...
@@jasperreyes5174 There are likely bits here and there that are safe, but rather than try to figure them out randomly while trying to dodge spoilers, I'm just going to experience them in an "intended order." Besides, I'm also the kind of person who connects dots rather easily. I'd had a few things about even these two cutscenes spoiled for me indirectly due to me piecing together little offhanded things I'd heard.
How a Genshin player doesn’t recognize the counter part mei/ ei?
This probably would have been better as a stream. Also, there's a video (I say a video, but it's actually a bunch of them) missing from the list such as a lore video om events before the game. That would have really helped you both out in understanding what was going on.

So Bronya is part of a line of Herrscher of reason hosts and are the first herrscher to fight for humanity due to the 35000 souls that make up the herrscher of reason core. The herescher of reason basically runs on the power of imagination where if you can think of something and know how it works yoy can make basically anything.

Honkai impact 3rd Part 2 just released and I’m back again the the Honkai Rabbit hole. I just can’t get enough of people’s reaction to this wonderful game.
The parallels I see from this game and with RWBY:
Honkai: It's a form of destructive force focused on eradicating humanity. Just like Grimms in RWBY.
School setting: They basically train to become Valkyries (all girls btw) to fight the Honkai just like training to become Huntsman/Huntress to fight the Grimm.
Herrschers: powerful beings that emanate/represent honkai. They are usually fuelled with the honkai's hatred towards humanity so most of them are evil so it is very rare to see a Herrscher that still has full human control. They're basically like the Maidens in RWBY but evil. Herrscher battles are always epic just like the Raven v Cinder battle.
Divine Keys: these weren't mentioned in the videos but it is also an integral part of the game. They're like tools made of a herrscher core/gem that is used to fight honkai. They're basically like the Relics in RWBY.
Otto Apocalypse: 2nd main villain of the game. His character is quite complex but I added him here because I see him a bit similar to Ozpin with all the experimenting and reincarnation stuff.
As a fan of both RWBY and this game I'll still try to find out and explain more of the stuff that can help you guys understand the story better.
Honkai doesn’t want to eradicate humanity. It’s a pruning system created by the first Honkai being called the master of wills, and it takes a form best suited to contest the living species on the world it is affecting. This is because its purpose is to ensure that all civilizations on the Tree have the qualifications for imaginary ascension (which is how the master of wills was created). It’s not evil, it just uses the worst parts of humanity to contest humans.
A Rwby Collab would be great, i want Yang in there as a Fu Hua simp knuckles and all
@@DXChosa Problem with the collab would be how much more powerful _HI3_ characters are compared to those from _RWBY_ . It's not even funny how one-sided a Death Battle between Squad 3 and Team RWBY would go, even without Herrscher powers. So Mihoyo would have to significantly nerf their own characters for the duration. And also remove _Time Fracture_ .
Which means RT might be willing to do a Death Battle, since most of the ones they've been doing for the last few years have been severely one-sided.
I could imagine what a tutoring session between Bianka and Yang might look like, though, both being blonde big sister-types. Bianka is a master at several martial arts, as her Dea Anchora battlesuit shows.

The commissioner unfortunately did a poor job compiling a playlist for you. They should have started with 'Introduction to the Honkai-verse' to give you some lore and context, even though it's outdated on the fine details. The 'Honkai Chronicles' they gave you was focused only on Raiden Mei, and her story up to the end of 'Thunders Over Nagazora.' As a result, you end up missing a lot of the details. But you miss a lot anyway because all of the animated shorts come from climactic moments at the end of chapters, so for example, _Final Lesson_ takes place at the end of Chapter 9. And by the way, it is an action game with lots of combat in a 3D style.
To explain as shortly and concisely as I can, first there is the Honkaiverse. Imagine a giant tree floating in a sea. The leaves growing from this Imaginary Tree are all the worlds / universes, and is in a constant state of war with the Sea of Quanta, and each is trying to consume the other. Since each world takes energy from the Tree to nourish it, the Honkai are the mechanism that the Tree uses to test worlds to see if they are worthy of being supported. Unworthy worlds are pruned, and fall into the Sea of Quanta, where they lose their energy and dissipate. The Tree then draws energy from the Sea, and creates a new world. Unfortunately for humanity, the method by which the Honkai tests a world is through destruction. And that's not something humanity likes, so they fight back.
Honkai manifest in a world as natural disasters, plagues, and monsters. They also give off a toxic energy that can kill and corrupt, making them extremely dangerous. On top of that, conventional weapons do not work on them at all, only Honkai-powered weapons work, so all of this is very similar to the Creatures of Grimm and why the Hunters (Huntsmen and Huntresses collectively, not your friend) fight them.
In the Previous Era 50,000 years prior to the start of the game, the Firemoth Organization fought the Honkai using their advanced technology. The thirteen strongest became known as the Flame-Chasers. Ultimately, they failed, but set plans in motion to help humanity resurface faster, as well as advancing their technology to be able to fight the Honkai more effectively using what they themselves had learned before their defeat. The battlesuit, stigmata, and Divine Key technology all came from the Previous Era. Stigmata confer both resistance to and compatibility with Honkai energy, natural ones being more effective than artificial, implanted ones, so for example Kiana and Seele both have natural stigmata, while Himeko had an artificial one. However even Valkyries with natural stigmata could become corrupted and turn into Honkai Zombies, Beasts, or even Herrschers. A sure sign of the corrupted are red or purple lines on one's body, and this is called 'Honkai Cascade.'
A Herrscher is someone or something elected by the ersatz Will of Honkai on behalf of the Cocoon of Finality to lead the Honkai forces in defeating humanity. 'Herrscher' is German for 'ruler' or 'sovereign,' and true to that meaning, they have sovereignty over a conceptual force, making them extremely powerful -- however they are driven by the overwhelming desire to destroy humanity, with a few exceptions, and thanks to the founder and original leader of the Flame-Chasers, Elysia, who made it possible for some to choose to become Herrschers of Humanity instead. Also, the Firemoths had scientists who created weapons from the cores of defeated Herrschers, all of which have similar powers to those that their Herrschers had. These are the Divine Keys, and the battlesuit that Himeko wore in _Will of the Herrscher_ is one of them -- the unnumbered Key of Blankness, known in the CE as 'Vermillion Knight: Eclipse.' It is the prototypical battlesuit to every other battlesuit in the Knight Series.
The three factions that fight the Honkai in the Current Era (CE) are Schicksal, Anti-Entropy, and World Serpent. While they have common cause, they disagree about how to do it. Schicksal, which was founded after the fall of the Roman Empire, uses Knights (men) and Valkyries (women) to fight the Honkai, and generally accepts that their soldiers are ultimately expendable. In 1955, the Schicksal North American Branch, which disagreed with sacrificing people to fight the Honkai, rebelled and became Anti-Entropy. They use Honkai-powered mechs to fight the Honkai, less powerful than Valkyries and Knights, but without the risk of corruption. Finally, World Serpent is a shadow organization that will purge the vile Honkai no matter the price. They inherited the most technology from the Firemoths, as well as Project Stigma, a plan to forcibly evolve humanity by subjecting them to high amounts of Honkai energy, thus the bomb Kiana tried to defuse in _Meteoric Salvation_ .
As for Bronya Zaychik, Kiana Kaslana, and Raiden Mei and how they can be Herrschers and fight for control, they really are in special positions.
First, Bronya is heir to the Gem of Reason, which was spontaneously formed in the destruction of the First Honkai Eruption in Berlin, Germany in 1952. Unlike other cores, this gem contains the collective wills of the 300,000 people who died that day, as well as the previous Herrschers of Reason before Bronya came into its possession. As you saw in _Azure Waters_ , Seele gave Bronya the power of _Rebuild_ before sending her out from the Sea of Quanta so Bronya wouldn't be stuck there like Seele. _Rebuild_ in this case is a lesser version of the First Herrscher's ability to construct anything as long as they understand how it works, even theoretically, and therefore Bronya subconsciously created her support mech, Project Bunny 19C, although in an incomplete state. Gaining the power of the Gem of Reason in _Cyberangel ZERO Exception_ gave Bronya a much more powerful version of _Rebuild_ , so among other things she was capable of upgrading Project Bunny.
Our Kiana is a clone that Otto Apocalypse created from the Second Herrscher (Void), Sirin, as well as from the original Kiana Kaslana. Otto's plan was to tame the Herrscher with the power of Life and Death to bring back his beloved, however he managed to piss off both Sirin and Kiana, pretty much ensuring Kiana would never directly help him to accomplish his overall goal. But because of his plan, Kiana would constantly have to struggle for control with the Sirin personality that was also inside their body, unequally shared. Not helping this at all was the fact that her body contained multiple Herrscher Cores (because Sirin had multiple cores), poisoning her body even faster. The plan World Serpent's leader, Kevin, offered Mei to help Kiana against this corruption was for Mei to become a Herrscher, and since more than one Herrscher of a type cannot exist at the same time, Mei becoming one would force the corresponding Core to rematerialize within her, and reduce the amount of Honkai energy Kiana had to deal with. Then we have Raiden Mei, the Herrscher of Thunder. Her original Herrscher personality was born of the despair and hatred she felt for her classmates and teachers isolating and bullying her, however Mei does not struggle with a second personality the way Kiana does. Nor does she have a second personality that acts to protect her the way Seele does. It's just sort of there, and Mei can mostly do what she wants. What she wants is a way to save Kiana for good, and for that she needs answers, which is why she agreed to join World Serpent.

Oh boy, this was a surprise, though a welcome one to be sure. Although ... knowing Arnold is one of your mods, I hope he doesn't get spoiled by any comments here ... or by the video itself. I would not have recommended the Mei Chronicles video from the end, if only because it directly spoils events from the game itself. There's an earlier Honkai Operations video called Introducing the Honkai-verse that sets up the general story without giving away too much information.
Also, Hunter was pretty close to truth by saying its like an alien invasion, as the Honkai itself is a malevolent energy that has the power to turn resilient human hosts into Herrschers that are driven by a single desire for destruction of humanity ... and yeah, Herrschers are given god-like control over a concept or element ... like Mei having control over electricity, Wendy over wind, and Kiana over space ... as well as other things like Reason having the power to create things from knowledge/imagination, and the Herrscher of Sentience having control over thought and illusion.
There's also a few videos that weren't included, like Reburn, which while non-canon, gives a clear look at pre-trauma Kiana's personality, as well as a couple smaller Chapter CGs before and after Meteoric Salvation. One of the big things to notice for the Lament of the Fallen is .. look closely at the scene of Mei talking to Kiana, there's a full plate of food ... and opened pills.
Someone go fetch Elianasynralt, they're a big viewer of HI3rd reactions, and can probably set you up with a complete cutscene playlist.
I moreso jokingly call Honkai lesbian naruto rather than gayer rwby, but that's because a lot of plot points line up with the former hilariously. Like how Mei and Kiana fight to prevent Mei from joining the Akatsuki (world serpent).
But generally, the honkai is the universal will saying "Alright, yall advanced enough. Time for a reset," taking place as disasters from the meteor that killed the dinosaurs, the black plague, and now interdimensional monsters that primarily specially trained women have the capacity to be implanted with their cells to fight them at the risk of corruption. A good chunk of the story is because one man (Otto Apocalypse) couldn't let a woman go after his fuck up.
The connection to genshin is that pretty much all of hoyverse's games are connected via the imaginary tree, basically yggdrassil, with each branch and split being a separate timeline with each leaf an observable world/universe. Anytime a lead falls off, it's consumed by the sea of quanta surrounding the tree, which forms a bubble universe before it inevitably destroys it. The tree and the sea are in constant competition.

Valiant effort but ofc u cant understand 7 years of story from an incomplete list of a few cutscenes. Especially Hunter was trying way too hard and looked disinterested because of it. Just enjoy the situation for what it is. Some pretty animations to react to.

The describtion at the beginning is abit off. At the start it's kinda like that but the more we get into the story it's kinda like Evangelion.
