Gargamel is the Classic Whistler Mega-lap

- Oh boy, are we in for an adventure today. This lap has been on my mind for literally a few years, so as soon as we saw the snow-free reports come in, we were here. This lap turned out to be a lot of fun and not exactly what any of us were expecting! The trail becomes a lot more feature filled towards the end; turns out there is a ton of variety when you descend almost a full kilometer of elevation...haha. Enjoy!

I love this sport! How did it take me 50 years to properly discover it? 🤔😠 Laura is a great rider. Glad she gets a regular spot in your feature rotation!
it won't be a popular opinion but over 30 minutes of techy trail riding is much more fun than 3 minutes blasting corners and huge gaps! I watched and crashed few times..-)
Haven't tried an edit video this long before, so the numbers will tell later!
Agreed. didnt even realize it was 30 minutes long, and just finished watching the whole thing.
Honestly quite surprised that Andrew's wheel lasted as long as it did considering how he rides and that trails that he does. Pretty darn good endorsement if you ask me!
Brought to you by Techno-Gnar! Two things: I wanted to see the wheel carnage. And follow Laura a bit more. At my stage of skill (little) and age (high) along with injury, pain, and recovery avoidance (super high), watching women ride is much more aspirational than young dudes! The ladies generally ride in a manner more conducive to my wishes for successful, no crash, no injury riding. :) Laura looks to be a really excellent rider.
It takes me long than 30 minutes to watch because I session the hard parts. One thing that amazes me is the huge rock cliff you rode by. How does something so big get flipped and then thrown back down like that? The stone in the middle trail is so strange in places where it is like a pathway....(not as much on this particular edit) but it looks like some sort of living thing that grows in the sunlight,
I rode this trail right after summiting mountain currie. Haha . I Also have a annual night ride on garagamel on Halloween evening! So epic.
Holy moly that's a big day! 🤯
I'd say that gnarly trail sign sums it up ;)
binge watching your vidoes, i plan on hoppin on my mtb once its the summer
damn winter.
Time to take up skiing, like me! 😉
these videos make my day keep up with the good work!
How big were the mosquitoes 🦟 😂
Somewhere between small dogs and medium horses.
I'm OK with every week being this long if the trails are this good 😅
This is what i have in my mind when someone is talking about a mountainbike trail.
Whistler has me thinking that it would be cool to see you do A line or classic Whistler tech
I can't even clean A-line, but I'm game for tech!
32mins...LOVE IT!!!!
Your crazy! And your doing it without kneepads. Keep up the good vids!
Loving your vids, keep up the great work.
im hella early
Wow love the long footage its the best💥💥💥👌👌👌
That was some rugged riding. Whew!
Yesssss, bring the tech. So much fun to watch :)
Great trail, you guys made it look easy!
That last section was redūn by Ken Melamed good eye Dale, if you check the video you’ll see an old wood skinny that was original, however over time it got cut out and Ken went to work on that final feature of Gargamel.
W
Very cool, love these history stories!
@@DaleStone It was a wooden gap jump between giant boulders with immediate bank right afterwards. Disastrous 3-4m fall into other boulders if you fucked it up.
gargamel was built by tyler morland.
Another couple nice, tech, old school type trails, love it. Love that little bit of rock paved roller at 31:00
Don't get why the guy rode out on a flat, no spare tube and pump? :-\
Ride successfully on a flat, or attempt to wear the sticky cushcore hula hoop of shame (and probably get a flat too!).
Great looking trail - it just seems to go on forever! Do you guys pedal up to the trail heads in full-face helmets? That must be boiling, no? Or perhaps it’s a shuttle trail?
Yep, full face full time! Helps when you have to fight the odd grizzly on the climb up too.
yayyyy longer video
Have you thought about trying a Cascade link on your sight?....great video
Haven't felt any need for more progression!
Amazing trail!
Looks like a great fun time! good to get a ride in out there since there shutting down most stuff in the fraser valley.
With Heritage mountain on fire, I will do my best rain dance. 🌧️
how long you run your bars!
760, I think!
Is Canada much better than the UK when it comes to mountain biking?
My initial reaction is yes, having never been to almost-Europe.
Did broken wheel guy just ride down anyways with a flat?
Of course! Sent everything too. 🤘
@@DaleStone haha. I wonder what that rim looked like by the end. I’m surprised it even held up without psi
I love you dale
😘
Do yall think a giant trance x29 3 is capable enough for those kind of terrain?
That's up to you to find out! 😅
Yes! We'll all I need is to brought it now
How long did it take you to ride this start to finish?
It was a big day, maybe 3 hours with an extra loop at the bottom?
Awesome riding everyone. That has to be one of the most stunning trails I have seen you ride.
Felt like a proper adventure!
@@DaleStone it definitely looked it.
Perfect job boys!
Your bike handling is insane Dale! BTW, Laura was killing it! I love watching women ride and show what they can do as I feel that they, as well as many other people, are still very under-represented in this sport. My wife rides with me a lot and will ride roughly 80% of what I will (but she's also been hurt less than I have so I guess this just confirms which one of us is smarter)! Loved the longer format and, as noted below, I really enjoy the slow-techy stuff more than the high speed flow. Thanks again for the vid Dale.
Mountain biking has a long way to go in terms of equality, but every day it gets a little better. 🙂
What a great ride. Jealous.
Snygg bana!
to much tech plz flow next!
You're crazy!
@@DaleStone pardon me, i forgot you dont know what flow is, YOU ONLY KNOW TECH!!!!!!!!! lol
