Not even 2 years ago, he said he'd never play for England cos Origin meant too much. He's done it because he wasn't getting selected for Origin. No issue with his choice, and he's actually unlucky due to suspensions and injuries as to why he hasn't played origin already... but my point is, let's not make it some sort of proud ancestral English heritage to pay back his parents or grandparents etc.
Who cares. Good on him for wanting to represent England. Aus have so many player's to choose from anyways. Gives another player a chance to make the Aus team and nsw blue's in the future. Goodluck to him.

Kenty is spot on. Freddy, Brandy & Joey must define what the Blues Jersey means & what it means to be a New South Welshman. What do the NSW people stand for? They passionately ‘Bleed Blue’ - but what for? What does winning Origin mean to the Blues players & the people of NSW? Why is it important & meaningful to them? Why should the Blues players be given the privilege to represent NSW? Why does the Blues Jersey mean everything to Joey & the players he mentioned? Why do losses shatter him? Who are the Blues & what is NSW’ character? When those questions have confident, clear, public answers - the Blue players will find inspiration to dig deep during the tough games when things aren’t going their way & find a way to win because they’re not simply relying on individual performance, talents & brilliance - but a true belief & pride in their cause
They need to bring in the Ex Blues players that were there in the bad times. Joey and Fittler don't have the skills to teach grit because they rarely had to while playing Origin. Qld players have that underdog in them from the get go.
That's exactly what QLD is about playing for their state and people that's their passion when they wear that maroon jersey win, lose or draw it's always been that. Joey was so off the mark when he was sooking about the passion of the maroon jersey on Immortal behaviour. He never mentioned playing for the state of nsw or the people when wearing the blue sky jersey
How is the debate about passion for the blues... Rather than Freddy making some absolutely shocking selection decisions.... Stop protecting Freddie who got outcoached by a rookie and stop pushing the blame on the players
How I look at it, the players are the ones on the field playing football the coach is on the sideline or the coaches box, the players are the ones who are actually play the game and they put results on the board the coach carnt be the reason they lost. if the coach is the reason they lost the coach would be playing.
Kenty consistently referring to Cam Murray as the blues preferred 13 when he plays second row and Isaiah Yeo plays 13 speaks volumes about his credibility. Does this bloke actually watch footy?
Exactly..New Zealand has lost so many players over the years from State of Origin rules, or players deciding to play for their "heritage" country...something the Kiwis battle with most years. Wherever you were born, is the country you play for..so simple.
@@peteynum1 i think we are seeing a change in international league. Looks like more and more nrl players are picking their heritage over Australia which is sweet because Australia winning EVERYTHING was so boring imo
I love this show at least they don't shy from expressing an opinion . I agree with Kenty ; I've said it for years going back to the 90's you jam a Joe Ordinary player into a Old Origin side ; he immediately grows six inches in stature and an extra set of gonads . When Qld had Cronk Smith Thurston Inglis Slater a win for them was pretty much done and dusted . Reverse the tables ; put out a star studded NSW side versus an average Qld team and those Canetoads often find ways to pull off a miracle . .
Origin is a great product with a storied legacy but having it as the pinnacle of the sport is exclusive and limits growth. Pundits are out of touch with the players and the direction the game is going.

Just a thought what about the fans? Are maroons fans more passionate about QLD than blues are about NSW ? I never really hear people say the blues are hard to beat at home where as people always say never count out the maroons at suncorp
Ur just copying what Kent said last week and the reason why for Suncorp is because historically qld have been near perfect. Brisbane is rugby league country and has a rich history in the sport
I dont know about blues supporters but when Qld lose a game i am disheartened for a week or until the next game. When we lose a series the pain is strong for at least a month then lingers for a whole year until the next series begins. For me everything is about Origin, a diehard loyal fan since 1980 (8 yrs old) when Big Artie did us so very proud. In short, I live for Origin!
There’s currently at least 2 maybe 3 players ahead of him for NSW #13 & more players coming through. He wants rep football. We all need competition at international level for the future of the game. Aus currently has 4x as many people playing the game than Eng or NZ. Everyone should be encouraging this.
Paul Kent's job is rugby league.. and he's about the only one in Australia that says cam Murray is the number 13 for the blues and not Yeo. That says a lot about his knowledge and opinion.
One minute in, he knows he will never play for Australia with Mal ( Queenslander) Meninga as coach this year after a Queensland origin win. The time frame in his career to play in a World Cup at his age and number of injuries he's sustained is very limited. I don't blame him for making this decision but would have loved watching him play at Origin level.
Maybe that's why he says that though ... NSW consistenly losing games they should win. I can't recall a time when QLD were heavy heavy favourites only to lose... This year and 2 years ago, QLD should not have won. NSW should be on a 4 year winning streak, if the shoe was on the other foot - I doubt QLD allow the same to happen. Let's be honest, Rueben Cotter would've been ahead of Radley in the selection for Australia. And Kenty has proven his point again especially mentioning Gagai who had the most missed tackles in the series, but Billy chose to put trust in him whereas soon as the Blues get a loss they make umteen changes, they don't bring in the people that have given their heart in the previous years. Sad to say, but you gotta admit he's right
Ok let's break this down shall we... 5:27 > I know I've upset people but it's the reality Pointing out why Kent is wrong doesn't automatically mean the people doing so are upset. This is pure deflection. Kent is entitled to his opinion but it wasn't reality- it was a load of reactionary nonsense that he never would've voiced had Cleary's chip-kick been regathered by a NSW player that they scored from and won Game 3. People were right to call it out. 5:50 > Qlders speak about Qld first, Australia second Which ones? Name 5 Qld players (past or present) who have claimed this? Wally Lewis said he always viewed himself as Australian first, Qld second. Brad Thorn and Tonie Carroll both represented NZ , Adrian Lam played for PNG. This is different somehow? Radley can see that his chances of playing international footy long-term are much better if he declares his eligibility for England. Good for him and England. 6:40 > (Gus) made (NSW) get what it was all about So Daley, Fittler, Stuart Harragon, Brasher, Johns etc. all coming of age as players and combining together in those NSW teams at the same time Lewis, Meninga and those other Qld greats from the 80's retired was just incidental, was it? It's like claiming Qld won 8 in a row because of passion and spirit with not a word spoken about the line-ups they ran out in that time! 7:45 > Latrell Mitchell some years back, Cody Walker some years back Luke Keary some years back Latrell Mitchell and Cody walker both had sub-par games for NSW in Game 1 2019 and were (rightfully) dropped. It was their attitude, not their ability that caused it. That same thing Kent reckons certain key players in the current Blues team lack. Considering NSW came back from 1-0 down to win that 2019 series, I'd say Freddy justified his decisions there. And citing Luke Keary- the guy who ummmed and ahhhhed deciding which state he was eligible for? Literally 1 minute after accusing current Blues players of not having enough passion for the jersey? Again, Kent is entitled to his position but at least be consistent. 8:15 > Where was Dane Gagai's form? Here we go again, this "Dane Gagai is superman at Origin level" myth does the rounds again. Might be worth going back and watching the defence of Gagai (and Ponga for that matter) at Origin level. It's no better than their efforts for Newcastle every week. If NSW had even half the amount of football in Qld's 20 metre zone in Game 3 that Qld had up the other end, the defensive frailties of both those players would've been savagely underlined. 9:00 > I got the impression that Andrew Johns was more upset than half the blokes in the dressing room You want the NSW players kicking chairs and bawling their eyes out? Not every player carries on like Joey or JT when they lose, doesn't mean they don't care about the game. When Qld lost Game 2 (or Games 1 and 2 last year) they sat around in the dressing room not saying much either- and they put in less of an effort than NSW did on Wednesday night. Where was the discussion about Qld's lack of passion then- which brings me to the biggest bell-ringer at the end: 9:27 > Every year (Qld) go away and they renew, and they reinvigorate what it means to wear the Qld jersey Of course they do- except when they lose a series. Or (pretty much every game Qld have lost since 2019) they get soundly beaten by NSW. What happened last series? 3 games in Qld and the Maroons were destroyed by a record score in the opening match, in front of the most partisan crowd in Origin history. 95% of that crowd were Qld fans and the Maroons barely turned up. Game 2 Qld were in it until Latrell scored the intercept, then they gave up completely. Next to the 2010 Blues team, I can't recall seeing an Origin side who looked more disorganised or disinterested- and this was a team that had DCE and Munster in it. Where was Kent or anybody else slating Qld's lack of passion then? Where was the "we back our own, we pick and stick!" when they sacked Paul Green after just that one series to bring Slater in? It's laughable that people like Kent ask when the culture in the NSW Origin team is going to change? Maybe it's the media's handling of Origin that need to change instead? They could starting with a more consistent/ balanced evaluation of players, teams and coaching staff instead of propagating this (demonstrably false) narrative that whenever NSW win it's because they have the better team/ game plan but whenever Qld win (regardless of the details) it's because of #passion and #spirit. I haven't submitted a single article for any sports publication in my life but I swear I could do a better job than at least half a dozen of the journos who cover the game- and that shouldn't be the case.
This argument is hilarious. NSW won last year and should have won this year. They lose and Kenty & co bringing up this bleeding for the jersey bullshit
I say bring it on and keep questioning the Blues passion. This all happened after the 2020 Origin series and look what happened the following year. The most dominant Origin series win of all time with all three games in Queensland.
It’s pretty sad that as a QLD Maroons supporter through & through - I feel pity for the Blues legends like Joey who’ve been let down by their current squad who care more about playing for other countries than for NSW. Joey being a player who now has severe epilepsy from all the head knocks he copped whilst giving his all for his state. NSW must define what it means to be a Blue & build a strong culture
The QLD jersey means to them what the All Blacks jersey mean to the kiwis.... As a new south Welshman we don't have what they have , not anymore anyway
Shut up, bet you weren't thinking that after game 2, get off Kent's nuts, they lost because Qld was better on the night, has nothing to do with passion
If your born in NSW, you play for NSW, if you are born in QLD, you play for QLD. Stop all this bullshit that has started in the past decade, if your of international descent and want to play for your heritage, the Australian Rugby league should step in, and say you can't play state of origin football, it's that simple.

I'm sorry but why isn't qlds passion being questioned in game 2 when they were absolutely trampled?? Missing 54 tackles in a game of origin?? And you are questioning the blues passion. Come on kenty pull you're head in
However I don't think it's completely encumbent upon the coaching staff to instil the passion into their players, they should be walking into camp already buying into what they're playing for. Queensland's passion is cultural, earning a maroon jumper is like being handed your first baggy green. NSW has certainly had players passionate about playing for their state, but unlike QLD it seems like a passion they have to find for themselves.
I think Kenty is correct about loyalty. NSW had the better team on paper and were certain to win game 3 so certain in fact that even Paul Galen had a bet with Lockyer to pack the Qld players bags into the bus with a cane toad on his head. 😂 I’m not saying NSW didn’t have the heart and the passion the spirit but Qld rose to the occasion they showed more fight to win and that showed by the crazy celebrations after Ben Hunts try because Qld was not expected to win given the flogging from game 2 and NSW’s star studded team unlimited talented players to choose from. Qld did have more grit to win on the night as both teams didn’t lack passion but Qld wanted it more so they fought harder therefore had more spirit to win.
Origin, like the NRL is a great spectacle but it doesn't evolve as it should. Rushing in changes or changing the rules with no long term planning ( for $$$$$$$) is killing this game.
I swear, it’s the same story every year. When we win, they never question the passion but when we lose, they question everything! You know, I low-key get what kent is saying aye, Sometimes I do feel like its a " STATUS " thing for some of the players that are eligible for NSW but its an argument thats stuck between a rock and a hard place because you have to understand that they're PACIFIC ISLAND HERITAGE Players that we're born RIGHT HERE IN AUSTRALIA weather it be from QLD, NSW, VIC etc... Just how you have to reaslise with the Radley situation that they're ENGLAND, SCOTTISH, IRISH, LEBONEASE, ARABIAN, AFRICAN, JAMACAIN, and the list goes on players that are BORN IN AUSTRALIA. If its really going to come down to this argument I think they should STRIP BACK the eligibility rules for ORIGIN and just make it PURELY BASED ON AUSTRALIAN FULL BORNS to represent there STATE that will be the only way to rule it out and IF ANY OTHER HERITAGE that is also Australian born decides to want to represent a STATE OF ORIGIN they will have to sacrifice that HERITAGE JERSEY on all cylinders, They will have too realise representing a STATE has repercussions on there REP FOOTY, That means MAORI, TONGAN, SAMOAN, FIJIN etc that are born here either play for AUSTRALIA after being selected and playing for a STATE OF ORIGIN, Pledge to your HERITAGE NATION and miss out on ORIGIN or Play ORIGIN IF SELECTED and Miss out on REP FOOTY all together if not selected for AUSTRALIA, It just has too be like that too elimiate this issue, Every player has PRIDE for whatever jersey they put on weather if its CLUB, STATE or INTERNATIONAL. Saying someone doesn't have PRIDE is defamation of there CHARACTER thats basically the other flipside to what Kent is saying and its a TOUGH STATEMENT so its a pretty intense topic which I think should just be forgotten quicker then it is always brung up cause it can really cause A LOT OF PROBLEMS in the long run.
These NSW players lived through the 8 year reign of Queensland as a NSW supporter that still hurts and it hurts even more when they win like they did game 3 these players should’ve taken something from that era and have all the passion that when you face Queensland at any time beat them

Kent is a clown, winning doesn't equal passion. You can not measure a teams passion purely based on outcome and if this is your belief then I suggest giving yourself an uppercut for being a dropkick.
Why are they all tip toeing around the real issue? All allegiances should’ve been declared well in advance of origin 1. State of origin should be strictly used as rep games for selection for Australia, as it always has been. If we want the international game to actually be interesting and not just be AU,NZ and sometimes England we’ve got to let ppl represent who they want to.
The problem with NSW is that it's never really had a narrative or identity for its players to relate with. That's just a consequence of NSW being the country's biggest state and never being an underdog
Spot on. Narratives, culture or whatever you want to call it is born from adversity. I’m old enough to remember how we’d get beaten every year pre state of origin. We then had a constant diet of how NSW saw us as second class citizens; the NSWRL ran the game, and the QRL was nothing. True or not that was the narrative. I had cousins from Sydney who thought we were a little further along the evolutionary path than the caveman. On paper we were always outgunned and our great players were overrated because they didn’t play in Sydney. That’s our narrative. Older players I assume remember this feeling too.
@@shanewilson199 I go back to that era too, and what you say is a fair enough explanation of why Qld won those early series from 1980 onwards. It DID mean more to Qld in 1980 for the reasons you mention. Players born in 2000 will just tune out when a few 60-year old ex-players drone on about the 1970s.

More important things!!!! Surely

Rubbish
They need to bring in the Ex Blues players that were there in the bad times. Joey and Fittler don't have the skills to teach grit because they rarely had to while playing Origin. Qld players have that underdog in them from the get go.
That's exactly what QLD is about playing for their state and people that's their passion when they wear that maroon jersey win, lose or draw it's always been that. How is the debate about passion for the blues... Rather than Freddy making some absolutely shocking selection decisions.... Stop protecting Freddie who got outcoached by a rookie and stop pushing the blame on the players

Yep
How I look at it, the players are the ones on the field playing football the coach is on the sideline or the coaches box, the players are the ones who are actually play the game and they put results on the board the coach carnt be the reason they lost. if the coach is the reason they lost the coach would be playing.
Slater outcoached them and they can’t deal. Always need something else to blame.

This is so good the international game more nrl players should pick their country of heritage or birth.

I've said it for years going back to the 90's you jam a Joe Ordinary player into a Old Origin side ; he immediately grows six inches in stature and an extra set of gonads .
When Qld had Cronk Smith Thurston Inglis Slater a win for them was pretty much done and dusted .
Reverse the tables ; put out a star studded NSW side versus an average Qld team and those Canetoads often find ways to pull off a miracle .

Kenty says nsw lack passion yet he tipped them to win game three 32-6.
Knowles, Lees, Bateman, Radley, Walmsley, Bachelor. Some decent forwards for England there.
5:27 > I know I've upset people but it's the reality
Pointing out why Kent is wrong doesn't automatically mean the people doing so are upset. This is pure deflection. Kent is entitled to his opinion but it wasn't reality- it was a load of reactionary nonsense that he never would've voiced had Cleary's chip-kick been regathered by a NSW player that they scored from and won Game 3. People were right to call it out.
5:50 > Qlders speak about Qld first, Australia second
Which ones? Name 5 Qld players (past or present) who have claimed this? Wally Lewis said he always viewed himself as Australian first, Qld second. Brad Thorn and Tonie Carroll both represented NZ , Adrian Lam played for PNG. This is different somehow? Radley can see that his chances of playing international footy long-term are much better if he declares his eligibility for England. Good for him and England.
6:40 > (Gus) made (NSW) get what it was all about
So Daley, Fittler, Stuart Harragon, Brasher, Johns etc. all coming of age as players and combining together in those NSW teams at the same time Lewis, Meninga and those other Qld greats from the 80's retired was just incidental, was it? It's like claiming Qld won 8 in a row because of passion and spirit with not a word spoken about the line-ups they ran out in that time!
7:45 > Latrell Mitchell some years back, Cody Walker some years back Luke Keary some years back
Latrell Mitchell and Cody walker both had sub-par games for NSW in Game 1 2019 and were (rightfully) dropped.
9:00 > I got the impression that Andrew Johns was more upset than half the blokes in the dressing room
You want the NSW players kicking chairs and bawling their eyes out? Not every player carries on like Joey or JT when they lose, doesn't mean they don't care about the game. When Qld lost Game 2 (or Games 1 and 2 last year) they sat around in the dressing room not saying much either- and they put in less of an effort than NSW did on Wednesday night. Where was the discussion about Qld's lack of passion then- which brings me to the biggest bell-ringer at the end:
9:27 > Every year (Qld) go away and they renew, and they reinvigorate what it means to wear the Qld jersey
Of course they do- except when they lose a series.

Good for the international game
However I don't think it's completely encumbent upon the coaching staff to instil the passion into their players, they should be walking into camp already buying into what they're playing for.
Queensland's passion is cultural, earning a maroon jumper is like being handed your first baggy green.
NSW has certainly had players passionate about playing for their state, but unlike QLD it seems like a passion they have to find for themselves.

International sport should always be the pinnacle.

@@thecricketer7928 the difference is QLD also had gun players missing and they still got the job done. if NSW were missing a main half they would throw the towel in and blame the reff like they usually do.
@@Luke-rt9gy Turbo and Latrell missed all 3 games, Munster missed 1...
Kenty wants to say its the non Aussies in the Blues. Just say it mate.
I gotta say, there’s 3 forwards Radley, Murray and Matterson who a few years ago, I was sure would be the backbone of NSW. How do NSW keep messing this up? If they were QLDers they would be.
Braith to PK last week: "Are you as big a NSW supporter as the QLD supporters". Bam.
first of all yea, murray doesnt play 13 for NSW, he plays in the back row, secondly radley made the squad this year whilst injured, if he plays his best footy around the origin period he probably starts in the other back row spot or at least gets on the bench, its not about he cant make the team, if he wants to rep england for his dad let him
He’s behind Yeo too
Strengthen the other countries repping Thier other part of their parents heritage.. good on ya buddy.hopefully more follow..
NSW have been heavy favourites, ppl who don’t support a state an just watch for fun I guarantee we’re rooting for QLD
Rugby league is a business,, average career for a NRL player is 92 games
Whilst I do not agree with what some Queenslanders and Kent are saying. I say bring it on and keep questioning the Blues passion. This all happened after the 2020 Origin series and look what happened the following year. The most dominant Origin series win of all time with all three games in Queensland.
@The LowKi No we have actually won 3/5 origin series lol
@The LowKi why did you delete your comment?
So is that passion for the jersey Paul Kent? Only when it suits you.
I dont get it, multiple players who went selected to play for their respect countries, they didnt get selected in origin nrl this year. Why is paul k#$% or the panel singled out victor radley out
So much for being a Bondi boy.
As NSW fan I am gutted. It really was a matter of “when” not “if” for victor. His style of footy is perfect for origin, imagine if he played in game 3 this year! I absolutely get his reasonings behind his decision, but I’ve got to agree with Kenty here. If he was deadset passionate on being a blue, he wouldn’t put himself in a position to compromise that. I honestly believe this decision is gonna come back to bite him on the arse.
Like cooper cronk said later on that show “victor changes his mind every week”. And I think he will do exactly that. I am it calling now 😂 he will kick up a stink and say he actually wants to play for NSW and next years origin headlines will be dominated by eligibility and rule changes again
Kent is 100% right
You serious his opinions are killing our game.
most players are dual eligible! those are the benefits they have. they can represent more than 1 country. they have that right with the current rules. Luai and To’o represented samoa before they wore that sky blue jersey. it wasn’t a issue last year when they won 🤷🏽♂️ why is it a issue now? QLD should be getting the same criticism, if that’s his logic, papalii, tino and nanai carried the samaon flag on their back after the game 3 win! Kent needs to go lay down on the M1 lol
Cause you know you wont be picked for the Kangaroos, thats what your feeling in your chest was 😂😂😂
Freddy will have to get the boot..
Don’t dilute SoE but give the other players who aren’t interested playing for aus another platform to showcase their skills for their respective countries i.e a tri series of NZ Maori, Tonga and Samoa
Then why are there guys that have played for Australia but have never played origin?
@@SEVENTY7-GG it’s one of the greatest flaws of NRL and the ARL. They flip flop so constantly on their policies that it’s the only consistent thing about them
This is what happens when you let them play for heritage and not place of birth get used to it
The bottom line is it helps the international game. I doubt they had a problem with kiwi players jumping ship to represent other countries for the WC but when it affects Australia then all of a sudden it’s a big sook and betrayal.
But once NSW had lost the early series, they increasingly threw everything at it, and I think from then on the ancient history stopped being relevant. Players born in 2000 will just tune out when a few 60-year old ex-players drone on about the 1970s.
lol nsw won by 50 last year then by 30 nobody questioned qlds passion but this year we lose game 1 by 4 points and all of a sudden we arent passionate enough lol
@ Pauly - exactly, it really is a stupid idea for stupid people. Since Origin started the results are broadly about 50/50. If people are stupid enough to believe that Qld somehow only "get it" 50% of the time, they are beyond help.
