I knitted a sample of this stitch over 50 years ago and lost the instructions. This one is the closest I've found with the six crossover strands, but my sample has the wings tied together in the center with a piece of different colored yarn looped over twice and knotted on the back instead of knitted. I actually like the appearance better as the "body" then is exactly centered but could be tied higher in order to have the uneven wings as shown in your sample. I have a picture of this in my computer knitting file, but don't think I can post it here.

Do you have a written pattern showing the use of two colors. Even though I have been knitting for years, I still need a pattern
