I am not a huge fan of Roglic but he's a great rider. It's kind of sad how close he's come to winning TDF but he will never win the TDF. His time has run out for that I think. It's kind of fkd up how Visma treated him. I'm glad he found a new team for himself tho. A team that will treat him with the respect he deserves. Visma isn't known for their kind ways. They are ALL ABOUT BUSINESS and they don't care at what cost. That team is pretty ruthless as far as what they will do to win and how they go about it

Roglic is clearly the strongest rider in this year's Vuelta, Ben seems like a great guy and gave us an amazing stage win, but Roglic is still who I'd predict to the overall despite the current gap. Regardless of who wins, it probably makes for a more exciting Vuelta for us fans with Ben trying to retain and others trying to break him.

      This is the comment I left . . .
This is my takeaway from todays stage
*Not surprised to see Roglic on this kind of form. I think he just needs to keep the rubber to the ground and this could be his Vuelta. For the record I'm not a fan of Roglic and I knew he had no chance at TDF but he really looks like the one to beat at the Vuelta
*It appeared that Sepp went down or at least unclipped when they came around that tight bend to the climb but I never expected Sepp to do well this Vuelta. I don't believe he's on the form he needs to be on to be a real contender. I don't expect a podium from him
*Enric Mas and Mikel Landa are doing quite well and I will be keeping an eye on both of them. They seem like they can be a threat to Roglic
*No surprise to see Ben O'Connor lose time. By stage 15 he will lose his lead. Even he doesn't expect to keep the leaders jersey
*This is a real race!! We have many riders that can be a threat for the win. This will be a great Vuelta
CAN'T WAIT FOR TOMORROWS STAGE 9!! Not extremely long climbs but Three Cat 1 climbs so we will see who is up for the task but it's still not a mountain top finish and it's not yet above 2000m so still not really a decisive stage but definitely a stage to watch and to see who is really ready for battle

Carapaz is putting it all out there. Gotta love the way hes performing!! Another REAL contender for a podium spot!!

@@BeeEhlDoce even tho he's notorious for crashing I really think he's going to stay upright this Vuelta. This is his race. He's won it several times already, he didn't have a chance at TDF (even tho he crashed out he wouldn't have podiumed), and he's got a new team that he wants to make proud and he is on great form. I'm not a big Roglic fan but I think he's got a great shot at this Vuelta. Almieda has covid and did terrible yesterday and I just heard he's DNS for stage 9. Even if he did start today he wasn't going to be a threat everyone hoped for and Sepp was t coming into this race as a real threat in my opinion. I also think Yates is underperforming and possibly because of covid (I'm not sure tho) and Ben himself isn't expecting to hold onto the jersey. He doesn't have a strong team with enough depth and he's going to pay in the upcoming stages. I say by stage 15 or 16 he's lost the jersey. Even if he keeps it past that I don't see him winning. He has a decent shot at getting a podium spot tho if he doesn't blow up the final week which is when I think we'll see him start to fall apart. Mas and Landa are doing really well. Different rules on different stages but they do change the rules as certain stages present certain issues. They may have allowed it cos of the heat but NOT at 4km to go. That's way too close. Probably got fined for that if they caught it

@@kennykaniff thanks for your answer. that is also what i thought. sometimes it is 20km sometimes 25 or what i have also seen. just until the last climb starts only 12 km to the finish what would definitely fit into your description.

@@mobert8266 yes I definitely don't see it being legal to collect water bottles at 4km to go under ANY circumstance. Maybe he got the bottle from a spectator??? I believe THAT would be allowed but it's DEFINITELY not advised or very smart!!! Do you think maybe it was a spectator?

There is a reason why nobody go for the triple. It's Impossible for everyone to maintain peak form from May to September, is just too much (even for him) and La Vuelta this year is more hilly than the TDF + the hot whether. The decision to not participate here is right.
