Matt Stephens The Cafe Ride - Andrew Ridgeley | Sigma Sports

- WHAM! popstar turned cyclist Andrew Ridgeley takes Matt Stephens on a stunning tour of Cornwall in this delightful episode of the Sigma Sports Café Ride.
Both men have a love of music stretching back to the heyday of vinyl, and after a quick stop at a record shop, it was time to embark on Andrew’s gruelling route with plenty of hills to test the legs.
But when the sun shines on a summer’s day, the rewards are certainly worth it. With stops for selfies along the beautiful Cornish coastline, a beachside coffee stop and fish and chips by the harbour wall, this could well be the perfect summer training ride.

Myself and my wife, both loved it, top episode.. Chapeau
@@johnbarrow5981 Glad you both enjoyed it. We had a lot of fun filming this one!
Wish more channels would pin their routes (or link in the description) instead of asking to follow their Komoot/Strava page...
Thanks Sigma (loving my Rox 2.0, BTW 👍).

Brilliant episode, really love these cafe rides. I ride the very same roads when i go on holiday down there, its a bit lumpy but the scenery is stunning.
I remember in an interview sometime in the mid 2000s, George Michael was asked about his sincere thoughts on Andrew . He paused for a moment, then said Andrew was unfairly maligned by the press after Wham's breakup. He said without Andrew, he would never have become a music superstar. Andrew gave him the courage, confidence and support whenever he felt overwhelmed and giving up. Andrew was polished, suave , talented in his own right , fun and very very intelligent. George ended with this quip : " Andrew was really the smart one. He's living a great life in Cornwall and many times, I find myself very very envious of him." This video illustrates that George was spot on about Andrew.
Just when you think Sigma can’t get any better they rock up with Andrew Ridgeley. What a lovely guy
Totally agree, ive watched most of these episodes and this is one of the best.
I’m a fan of the cafe rides. All are a treat
Just when you think Andrew Ridgeley couldn't get any cooler, you discover he's a roadie!
Dont you mean ‘then WHAM! they rock up with Andrew Ridgeley!
I found it quite surreal
Andrew looking pro. Setting the bar for the older gentlemen.
Looking and riding like a pro!
⚔️💪👌👍🏴🇬🇧(stroke)
100%. He’s a stud on the bike.
How nice is his jersey!
@@benjamescycling nice enough for me to look up the brand. Velodrom I think. Helps he is lean.
These episodes are better than most of the offerings on TV 👍
Haven't had one of those things since 1992.
Prisoner Cell Block H? Homes under the Hammer? Any cooking program? Wow! Such a high bar.
💯 agreed
You just realized that the internet is better? )
100 % agree! This episode was of the best videos I have seen in awhile. Great biking, food, scenery and talent.
What a great interview. Andrew clearly enjoying the day. Matt giving him plenty of time to speak, but chipping in with some lovely comments. One of the best cafe rides I've seen
Thanks Stuart. Both Matt and Andrew were amazing
Great episode! Andrew's a great lad and clearly an excellent cyclist. What I really liked was the fact that Matt never asked questions about George - as much as Andrew loved him, I'm sure it must get annoying when the line if questioning always works it way back to George. Well done Matt, you the man!
What do you ask this nondescript failure if not about his 15 mns with GM?
@@10shed Yeah good point Tony. It's nice to have input from someone like you who's so heavily pinned down with Oscars, Golden Gloves and Blue Peter Badges - next call Netanyahu!!
@@10shed I often wonder if complete wankers ever have a day off. Seems you don't.
Love my Cornwall ❤
15mins but £20+ mil later
For 61, Andrew is keeping it tight!
Makes you think about your own health. Sugar, Caffeine, etc..
Andrew comes across as an unassuming great guy and really looking after himself. Looks fit as a fiddle. Really enjoyed this.
Hope I look and ride as well in my '60s as he does!
I met Mr Ridgeley a few years ago in a bike shop I was running and I have to say, he was a lovely, modest, personable client! I really enjoyed helping him.
You can't get better than that, 2 Bushey boys having fun.. Grew up with both of them, we lived just a few houses away, Andrew taught me how to skate board and his brother Paul taught me how to play drums, Matthew was always fun and i went to school with his sister Natasha.. great video..
As I was only saying to my neighbour Madonna the other day, there's nothing worse than a name-dropper!
Love this❤
@@Ystadcopha a I just love these kind of stories and connections. Great dinner stories. 😊
It's funny isn't it. I remember Andrew Ridgely outside of music as the guy who wanted to be a racing driver and was known for crashing his cars. He's definitely moved on a lot from then and is a really good cyclist. And yes Matt, I think Cornwall looks fabulous and I'm definitely thinking about going there next summer.
What a brilliant episode and Andrew is an absolute gentleman and so fascinating. Matt also whilst such a funny guy should not be underestimated in his amazing talent as an interviewer and an authentic great guy.
I don’t know what algorithm brought me here, but that was thoroughly enjoyable. What a gentleman Andrew is, well, both of them for that matter. Superbly produced as well.
Without doubt one of the best café ride episodes ever. The sort of thing you don't want to end... beautifully produced!
This was a great watch. What a top bloke Andrew Ridgeley is.
Absolutely loved this. Only complaint is that i wish it was longer. Beautiful scenery, great interviewing by Matt,(who is better than some who have made it their career) and what a great guest in Andrew Ridgeley, what a lovely guy. Fantastic.
Maybe Gary Kemp next keeping the 80's music theme alive.
Matt Stephens, you are among the best interviewers I've ever seen. This was so entertaining, insightful, and informative. Well done!
What a man of many lives Andrew is, very inspiring.
He was a fantastic guest and we were honoured to have him join us on the series
Absolutely fantastic, I never knew Andrew was into cycling and what a great cafe ride. I think that Andrew has realised every dream and aspiration that a person could ever aim for and for this , he deserves some massive kudos, and what a great great guy all round. We need more of this kind of stuff Matt and the team. Probably one of the best productions to date👍 - I'm a cyclist and I live in the Pennines....
Can we bottle what you guys have and spread it around a little, the world needs more kindness, people really are fantastic you guys are living proof.
That cafe ride has to be the best one of the series!!
I couldn't wait to watch this when I heard about it!
Us gentleman of a certain age like Matt pointed out ALL pretended not to like Wham!
But secretly listened to our girlfriends/sister's/ wives copies!🤫
And let's face it ..
They were good🎵🇬🇧
The ride itself was spectacular..
Fantastic scenery!
Fantastic banter and a genuine warmth between Matt and Andrew.
And the topics of conversation sounded familiar to us 60's kids.
Here's another vote for Cornwall
I must try and ride there myself again sometime soon!☀️🇬🇧
I went to Andrews house a few years ago for work, amazing guy so down to earth real gentleman. Go to see him enjoying cycling in such a great area....
What an incredibly humble and inspiring gent Andrew is. Well done guys on a great ride 👍🏻👍🏻
Good to see Andrew looking after himself and a keen cyclist. Fab countryside.
Yet again Matt produces a fantastic coffee ride. Andrew Ridgeley is a real gent. Love it.
I met Andrew first in the day back at Cafe de Paris in 87' and then again 2 years ago in Banyoles mid bike ride. What a splendid gentleman!
Absolutely love the kindness between you two, and-as you both already know-cycling and music go together like coffee and conversation.
Best cafe ride yet. Loved hearing Andy, wife and I were/are massive Wham/ George fans. Cornwall is stunning, thank you for sharing
Thanks Simon. One of our favourite episodes for sure!
Great video men. Lovely to see Andrew looking so well and fit. I'm 59 and was a big Wham fan.
The Cafe Ride series is without doubt my favourite content to savour on UA-cam. It would be my favourite content on any media outlet. It really should be on mainstream TV.
Ah shucks, that means a lot. Stay tuned, plenty more to come...
Being a musician most of my life, I can say that musicians appreciate skill talent creativity and uniqueness when they hear it. Both ABBA and WHAM! had that in abundance. Great video, I caught a glimps of Andrew in Amy's Cycling Adventure video. He's a lovely guy. He is really fit as a mature cyclist, and his reflections and stories behind those heady pop years we all remember are gold.
As a fellow cyclist in Cornwall. Great to see. Andrew is well known as a great cyclist around here although I don’t know him myself. Also as a 52 year old Joy Division fan - so pleased to see Closer as Andrew’s choice! I know George was a big fan too. So cool. Great bit of video. Thanks so much.
This was probably the best ever chat with Ridgley.
He was so at ease.
Can't complain about the ride.
This is by far the best ever cafe ride
Love Andrew’s kit! 🔥
Any idea who makes it?

@@karthiksudhir9633… VELODROM possibly.
THE BEST cafe ride yet. Matt just lived out my dream of riding in England chatting about music with an absolute icon (and clearly skilled cyclist). Loved the album buying and reveal. Andrew, if you’re interested in taking a Yank out for a spin, please let me know. I’ll jump on the next plane and be there in about 6 hours. Well done, lads.
Andrew seems a really nice bloke ,great to see him doing well and looking so content with life 😁😁👍👍
What a privilege to get this video in my feed.
Andrew looks fantastic! Cycling is truly the foundation of youth!
55-year-old me found this absolutely delightful! AR looks in great shape, and seems to be enjoying life. It's lovely to get these little insights into people I grew up with. I might never have bought a Wham! record (Maiden and Madness were more my jam), but they form a solid part of the soundtrack of my life. Cornwall looked stunning, too.
Thanks for the kind message and we are over the moon to hear you enjoyed the episode 😃
Just shows you should never pre-judge people, what a nice guy Andrew came across as. Great job Matt as ever in bringing that out
I’ve so much time for Andrew. After watching the documentary, he comes across as someone who’s a lot of fun and has an incredible amount of patience. Incredible life too.
As ever, a wonderful bit of content. Andrew Ridgeley looks like he could win a Vets race league - what a lovely way to spend his post-popstar years. Nice Canyon too!
What a fantastic interview, and what a beautiful soul Andrew Ridgeley seems to be.
What an amazing guest to have on the café ride. Andrew and Wham are one of the soundtracks to my teenage years. Even more so, that Abba Arrival album cover is etched in my memory from my Dad's vinyl collection (and he was also a heavy metal fan).
Brilliant ! Brilliant ! Brilliant ! My favourite episode with my favourite things Cornwall, Bikes and Music (make it big my first album) thanks Matt, Andrew and Sigma for the memories
Stumbled on this and am so glad I did. Really good banter.
The moment Andrew pulls out Joy Division. Absolutely brilliant episode Matt. Great ride with great company. Thankyou 😊
What a great bloke Andrew is.
Really enjoyed this episode and Cornwall's views.
This was magical, makes me want to go to Cornwall and hopefully bump into Andrew Ridgely on a ride 👍
What an amazing guy Andrew Ridgeley is and a cyclist too! Beautiful shots of our stunning Cornwall, real feel good video 😊
Really love this episode Matt. Andrew is in great shape.
Andrew was flying, definitely earned their fish and chips that day!
Blimey, what a revelation. Ridgeley is metronomic out of the saddle. Astoundingly fit. Great cafe ride. One of the most enjoyable to date.
This epitomises cycling for me. Everything you think it should and want it to be. Perfection...
Fantastic ride and beautiful view. Mr Ridgeley as always such a gentleman. Really enjoyed this one and had to watch Edge of Heaven. Remembering when i was 15 and listened to it with my girlfriend and didn't had a care in life. Now im old and sometimes wondering where the years went when i ride my bike.
Enjoyed this far more than I thought I would, what a brilliant ride!
Hands down the best cafe ride I've seen. Andrew comes across like a regular guy. Brilliant
Thanks gents for a really enjoyable video & lovely to see Cornwall in all its glory. Makes me want to return asap!
So true about everyone born between 1950 and 1970 having this holiday! Beautiful place and a great ride with two lovely fellas
This was fantastic. What a joy to watch and see where Andrew Ridgeley’s life is now. I love the focus on Andrew. Thanks for the great interview and video! Love Cornwall. ❤🎉
Very very nice!
Andrew gave me Alberto Contador vibes....
True. Same here
I am not a cyclist but love Wham and Cornwall. Great video and interview.
It’s a pleasure to see two perfect English gents discussing everything that encompasses the cafe ride PS I think Matt was under the Josh all day, thank you 😊
That was one of the best! A beaut ride, lovely weather, and great banter
A great example that popstars are human after all, If you meet them in another setting than a studio where every second is scripted this is the outcome! A great interview (talking like normal people) and a beautiful ride with a wonderful person! Loved every minute of this! Thanks for the upload!
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this, as an older cyclist myself I now aspire to be as cool as Andrew Ridgeley. Keep up the good work Matt & Sigma.
Love The Cafe Ride! The only thing that would make this better would be more Cafe Rides! Keep it up! Never gets boring!
Thank you for sharing a truly wonderful ride and discussion.
Really enjoyed this video, it was one of those little gems that you stumble upon on UA-cam and then end up subscribing to. Thanks Matt and Andrew, the journey through Cornwall gave me a little escape from this cold winter weather up north!!
Class all the way. Gorgeous cinema and Matt and Andrew were great company. Really impressive episode. Thank you.
This vid is brilliant, what a top top fella Andrew is, very humble, really enjoyed watching this , great work 👍🏼
Absolutely loved this! I remember many years ago in Monaco, I'm stood on the side next to my car having had an awesome chat with ex WC F1 driver Nelson Piquet and Andrew Ridgeley goes by on his bicycle and looks straight at my bro and I cos I say, look thats Andrew Ridgeley. So, no surprise to see him looking like a pro cyclist with you here. This is a true story Sir! 👍🏻
Andrew is a class act!
What a wonderful find! Andrew comes across as a first class human being ..I’m now subscribed
Glorious. Absolutely glorious piece of filming. Thank you.
That was a surprise, was not expecting that, probably one of my favourites episode so far. Thank you
Just pinged up on my screen ,what an absolute 40 mins of pure joy watching you bring the best out of Andrew a true gentleman and not withholding a hard ride through stunning scenery, best video I have watched on here in a long long time guys stay healthy ……Rich 💪
Really enjoyed this - great filming, well produced, scenery fantastic, interviewing wonderful. Matt always manages to get so much out of the guests. Thanks again, keep on doing them!
As always, the interviews are phenomenal, and the visual storytelling with the video and production are spot on. One of the best programs on streaming television right now.
What a lovely edition of the cafe ride that was, with none other than Andrew Ridgeley himself! That area of Cornwall looks like an amazing cycling destination.....
Simply splendid - Matt has the knack of making you feel like you are there with him and Mr Ridgely - what a gent👏
I loved this episode so much, watching you ride the same roads I do when I’m on holiday in Cornwall was brilliant and Andrew is such a wonderful person to interview, the chat between you both was brilliant. Chapeau 🚴♂️🚴♂️
Fish and chips And gravy!!! What an enjoyable watch.
Brings back so many happy memories of my childhood and youth! Such a joy to watch you both on this ride
What a trip down memory lane . Love from Dublin
What a booking, great find that AR is an avid cyclist. Gotta be one of the best received Cafe rides episodes ever. Andrew looks great on a bike, very fit and flew up the climbs, lots of miles in those legs.
These just keep getting better, Andrew Ridgeley, legendo of British pop riding a bike, awesome
This is fantastic, a great conversation and incredible camera work. In my home county. Well done!
That was brill. Andrew Ridgely what a decent chap. Matt 🎉 AND HIS CAFE RIDES, PODCAST ARE JUST LEGEND
As always Matt, great job, and Andrew Ridgeley, what a thoroughly top bloke. 👍
Brilliant! Great seeing one of my hero’s cycling and also my other music hero’s abba also featuring - great taste Matt! Cornwall one of our fave destinations! Many memories of family holidays there! ❤❤❤
Absolutely fab watch. Well done Matt, great interview and ride. Who knew that Andrew was such a keen cyclist and such a top bloke!
One of the great cycle rides !
I always love these but this was good and takes me back. Born in the Uk and went to Cornwall as a kid but lived in New Zealand for the last 20 years, every time I go back i always go to Cornwall for a few days.
Keep up the good work.
A really beautiful episode full of Pure Joy. Thanks for sharing.
I watch a lot of cycling videos, this is one of the best I've seen.
Just came across your video. Wow. Great nostalgia and views of Cornwall.
It was good to see Andrew in fine fettle and loved his chat around the late 1970's and early 1980's.
Was a Mod, and scooter boy (both Vespa and later Lambretta), into Secret Affair, The Jam and also Ska. Also got into the New Romantic scene and Wham, who were fantastic. Reluctantly let my 12 inch vinyl record of Last Christmas go with lots of other records recently due to down sizing.
Thanks for sharing a great sunny and warm day out for both of you and sharing great memories.
Great Cafe ride! Always love these. Fantastic. Brings back memories of my Cornwall holiday a few years back. Just beautiful.
I was having a really bad day, this cheered me up no end. Cafe ride is a great series and this was one of the best :)
What a fabulous show, Andrew is a top bloke, very grounded!
What a brilliant video & top bloke & yes North Cornwall is stunning & we love it! Been everywhere in this video so great memories
