I’m reading it now and it’s makes you slightly uncomfortable in the beginning but it makes so much sense thus far. I can’t wait until I get to the end.
Thank you so much for the shoutout! We really appreciate it. We definitely know the value of mindfulness so this sounds beautiful. Great review! Thank you !
I'm glad this book resonated for you. I used to be really into self-help so I understand how receiving this kind of message at the right time can have a huge impact. Have you read a lot of self-help books? What would you say makes this book stand out? Also, you said the book does a lot of god stuff that might turn off atheists. Is it monotheistic god stuff or just general there's something more than us stuff? Just curious.
I haven't read too many self help books. The last one that resonated with me was a Stephen Covey's 7 habits of highly effective people in high school. I definitely say that book helped me shape me in my youth to the person I am today in terms of effectiveness. Do you have any self help book recommedations? He definitely refers to God in Christianity and lots of Buddha-adjacent framework. I find that some atheists have a visceral negative reaction in any mention of God in the Christian aspect so can see how some people do not enjoy that aspect. I respect all religions and definitely see the power in religion so it didn't impact my reading of his work.
@@ReadingwithTatiana No self-help recommendations here. I kind of read myself out of them and feel like they all more or less say the same thing--which can be helpful with the right framing and when the person is in the right place to receive and implement it, but I more or less tend to read and pick them apart at this stage. I do think mixing spirituality with self-help can be troubling because it's another way you can only be right or improve if you believe in and follow god--which to my way of thinking is a pretty harmful message. I'm curious in how he tackles it because I generally find a monotheistic outlook to feel exclusionary to both atheists and polytheists. That said, I think especially in America where Christianity is the majority it can be really helpful for a lot folks.
Great review. Thanks!
