The Quest to Find Some Down Hill Mountain Biking Trails in Saskatchewan and Manitoba at ThunderHill

A while ago I came across some trails in the Trail Forks and All Trails apps that I had been very curious to check out on my Mountain Bike. The area is called Thunderhill which boasts several trails to check out either on a Mountain Bike or by Hiking. The Hill rises 450' above the surrounding prairies which provides some spectacular views and some down hill action for Mountain Bikes. The area is located around the Swan River Valley and actually shares the boundary for Saskatchewan Manitoba Boarder near the town of Benito and Swan River Manitoba. Funny Enough I had never been here before even though growing up I lived only an hour drive away in Preeceville, which had added to my burning curiosity of the area. As I understand there is a local mountain bike club called Tread The Thunder which looks after the trails and in the wintertime the area is home to a down hill ski resort with T Bar lifts and Snowmobile Trails that pass through there. I was surprised to learn Thunderhill has the Highest Elevation Drop in Manitoba for Down Hill Skiing beating out the near by Duck mountain Hill near Madge Lake and the more popular and more developed Asessippi Ski Hill. I managed to sneak in a trip here with my family later in the day after finishing some work I was doing in the area. As a result I didn't have a lot of time to explore the area, but I defiantly see myself coming back here to check it out again. Unfortunately the day I was there the trails were in need of some love and were fairly overgrown which was too bad as this area has sooo much potential. I came across some jumps that I was enjoying taking my bike on. So if your looking for some adventure and enjoy nature and the out doors, Hiking, Down Hill Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Down Hill Mountain Biking and are looking for where to mountain bike in Saskatchewan or Manitoba this is a place you should check out!
