Horner, so young, and still so early in his career, leading the orchestra with such command and charisma! Wow, very impressed.
Ah, so cool to see him this young, full-faced, casual and speaking in an American accent.
I noticed while looking at the years before he died in a plane crash that his mannerism of speaking was almost British-eqsue. A mix between that and American.
James Horner was so wonderful.
James was not young and will never be old: he will be forever eternal.
Always loved the music in this film
I've been missing my friend James Horner and finding this is so wonderful. Thank you for posting. One of my favorite soundtracks of his. R.I.P. James Horner
Thankyou so much for this, been a draught in Horner footage uploads over the years and ill take everything I can get. Meeting this man was one of the greatest moments of my life
Holy crap, I had a chance to meet him, but he politely declined when I met with Dean Wright, one of the directors he scored music for. He seems quite humble.
So amazing to see this session - I've always loved this score and to see Bradbury there while Horner performs his musical magic is fantastic!! It will live forever.
The late great James Horner would go to win numerous Grammy Awards and even two Oscars for both score and song for "Titanic" in 1998. He'll be always remembered but never forgotten.
I could watch this stuff all day.
Whoa, Bradbury was at the sessions! One master to another.
This is phenomenal! Thanks so much for sharing. Love this film and score. James Horner was a master of his craft.
Layer upon layer of magnificent music so wondrously ethereal and majestic. Horner's was Incredibly talented and left the world too soon but his music lives on. Every note heard and listened to with immeasurable pleasure. James will live again forever.
This is great
Great footage of Horner. Very cool to see Shawn Murphy holding it down as well.
Awesome James Horner! What an incredible composer left us. Know we have Hans Zimmer and Co. but they have not the same classical level like Goldsmith, Williams, Rozsa, Herrmann, Korngold, Steiner, Poledouris, etc…!
I love this...i would love to see full rehearsal footage of movies like Empire strikes back, (and yes ive seen whats already on youtube, I’m talking about FULL sessions) Conan the barbarian and so many others. Im sure Lucas films has all the rehearsal sessions in their vaults.
1:47, this sounds like Horner's favorite mode: Lydian.
I've noticed he loves writing in this mode too! If I ever have another daughter I want to name her Lydia, as it is my favorite mode too!
@@jeremyfrancispiano2, yes, Williams used that mode for Yoda's theme as well. It's pretty magical!
AWESOMENESS!!!
So young :)
Nice find.
O:25 - Emil Radocchia (Richards) / 5:50 - Shawn Murphy
This is mesmerizing to watch. Not being a musician, but loving music, can anyone tell me what instrument is used to make the whooshing noise at around 2:33 and again around 2:44? Fascinating.
Combined synth with "wind" sound and horns w/no mouthpiece (Horner will use this effect in "Universal" logo and "Land Before Time" later)
Such an underrated movie 🎥
James, I'm sorry about your loss about 6 years ago when you're in the plane.
From Titanic To Avatar James Horner Did This Role
This man gave Roger Corman a million-dollar soundtrack for Battle Beyond the Stars.
1:34, that Violinist was not happy with Horner possibly calling him out on a wrong note (lol).
Is James Horner in Eastwood scoring stage cause I can’t tell how Familiar it is?
It's Disney stage
What year was that
1983
@@fucktheilluminati502 Wow; only a year after Star Trek II.
Georges Delerue is a good composer but James Horner was a better choice for this movie because he captures the whimsy and childhood wonder better along with the surreal moments. Delerue’s score sounded too much like a dirge.
Both scores are excellent in my view; in fairness to Delerue, the version he scored was very different from the one Horner was given. Unsatisfied with Jack Clayton's cut, Disney decided the film was in need of a radical re-think, and made significant alterations to the film -- not only replacing Delerue's music, but removing footage, shooting new scenes (such as the tarantula sequence), and adding a number of effects shots. Trivia: Jerry Goldsmith was actually asked to write the replacement score, but was unavailable.
where did you find this is there more? is there a full video? is there one for titanic
when was this
1983
