"You know, sometimes I write happy songs, then sometimes little things go wrong, you know I wish they all could make you smile..." Prine was probably attracted to these lyrics from Blaze Foley because he understood them so well.
@@CaperJake Welcome to the John Prine universe!. Almost nothing can go wrong there, but there's a lot to learn about from John's poetry! Long may your joy continue as a John Prine fan!
Most stars and celebtities do not affect me much. Wife and I had the pleasure of seeing a concert of his about 2 years ago. When I read of his death I bawled. Great writer and musician and from what I have read a very good guy.
I've learned SO much about John, Steve Goodman and many others who have written great songs that we think the singing artist wrote but didn't. Just think if Arlo Guthrie had never sang City of New Orleans that Steve Goodman wrote. Johnny Cash turned that one down lol,, Gone but never to be forgotten,!
Wow, the things we learn AFTER they are gone :(, So many major artist owe so much to writers like John Prine,, Steve Goodman, and so many others,, They sing the songs and WE think, What a great song they just sang and NEVER realizing,, they didn't write it,, someone else did... RIP all you song writers who are NEVER recognized and Thank you!
Absolutely beeeeeeeutiful. My wife and I danced around living room to JOHN PRINE. can't do that to Dylan....roll back the rug.....MMMMM. M MMMM...one mo gin !
Raul Malo of The Mavericks did a cover tribute to this. I did not realize John Prine had passed. RiP to the man. Prayers out to his family and friends 💯💯🙏🏽
Ive listened to George Strait sing this and love it. Didn't know John prine had it first. Just discovered JP a couple of years ago. Enjoyed this version too.
The album only lists Alan O'Bryant as the only other Vocalist. Hes a rather famous Banjo player and has a wonderful voice. Doesn't sound like him, but I only know him bluegrass "twang", not smooth voice like this. He cut You are my sunshine for the O Brother, Where Art Thou movie.
In a sad way, at 78, I only recently discovered John. Brilliant Mostly Happy songs. Just learning all his words. Loving it….

Johns great friend Philip Donnelly playing those little guitar licks, they passed within months of each other. RIP Both ❤
JP died today. And I learned this song tonight. Singing it a crying. Thank you JP.
My wife and I had a band at our wedding, I asked them to learn this song for our first dance and they did, RIP John
30 years ago, this was our "first dance". Glad there are some others dancing into matrimony.
This truly was "The day the music died!" So sad!
The Heart of Music is broken today 💔 R.I.P. John

@@daraardeshir8774 Disagree, music is better than ever. You just need to search it out and don't listen to commercial radio.
I had no idea that he wrote this! Love the song, beautiful performance
I’ve listened to John for over 40 years. He’s timeless. Amazing man, amazing words. Going to miss you sir. Rest in Paradise #covid19sucks
They have recently dedicated John Prine Memorial Park at Rochester Dam. As far as I know they also spread at least some of his ashes there.

I can’t find the words...
Anyone know who the other vocalist is - I've seen a reference to Alan O'Bryant, and another to Sam Bush on 'harmony vocal'?
@Zack Wolfe Third time lucky. Thanks Zack.
I believe it's Roger Cook who co-wrote this song with John.
It sounds kind of like Buffett
Jimmy Buffett.
@@seanmcdonnell9150 Thanks. I was pretty sure..
After much research, I'm certain this is Roger Cook and John Prine.
What’s the other song that’s sounds like the start of this song?
Roger Cook cowriter and vocals
Who is trading verses with John?
prine could make do this song sound foreign

Roger Cook I thought
@@keithallen2791 Yep I think you are spot on. I totally forgot he co wrote it with John. Strange they didn't credit him because its a wonderful vocal.
I think it might be Marty Stuart

The other singer sounds like Jimmy Buffet.
I think it is Roger Cook the cowriter of the song
ua-cam.com/video/nsTwI9FRDUE/v-deo.html
he cooked up the to do it
All I can say is Ww
The tune is reminiscent of The Everly's 'Claudette'.
I can't find it at the moment but I've read before that Claudette was the direct inspiration for this
The f off is mutual
RIP John Prine
