Some more info: the hospital is Fatebenefratelli on Tiberina Island, a small island in the Tevere river, in Rome's city center. It's also right across the Ghetto. The people 'quarantined' were instructed to cough and moan in pain, similar to a kind of tuberculosis that kept killing soldiers.
The hospital is still open and running smooth, is full of beautiful paintings and small artworks, there's a small church in front of it and a very famous and delicious restaurant and gelato shop all on the island.

Bulgarian Christian church workers helped a lot to organise everyone and make official petitions from all citizens to the ruling monarch too.

the painful scream he let out when he saw his sister again hurt my heart. he balled his eyes out. sadly he passed in around 2010, he met her again in 2005. she also passed in 2008. they only got to see eachother again for 3 years. we live in NJ, she said she had came here because of her daughter who moved here, (my grandma) who finally got in contact again saying hes been here with them. they never told us they had been separated for around 60+ years.

John Rabe a Nazi who saved hundreds of Chinese women from gang rape and deaths and Chiune Sugihara who saved 5600 Lithuanian Jews whose descendants still live in Japan. When called a hero he said “no, I did it because I could. Wouldn’t you?”

Heinrich Himmler himself came to Finland and promised to take care of our "Jewish problem" and im glad that even though we were co-belingerents of the Nazis, we held our own on that field. Out of the 2000 Finnish Jews and almost 400 refugees from Europe, which of 300 were soldiers in the Finnish army, still sadly 8 were handed over. Its an interesting topic to do some research on.

I love that so many people get out of their way to help Jews during war. I hate the fact that society even got to the point when people have to get out of their way to protect them. I also don’t like that in some countries we are getting into similar situations again…

I remember that my mother and grandma told me about my great grandparents who saved one of their jew friends. They hid him in the attic thanks to a passage behind a bookshelf, risking so their life’s and the one’s of my grandfather and his brother. After the war, they received a medal and an attested in both italian and jewish.

There is also the story of an italian biking champion who hid fake documents for jews in his bike and carried them around italy to rabbis and other people who gave them to jews, and when they stopped him at road blocks his excuse was: “The war won’t last forever, I am practicing for when it does” and passed.

You should talk about Willem Arondeus. He was an openly gay artist from the Netherlands. when the war came, he was an anti nazi fighter. He bombed the Amsterdam public files, making Jewish identification a lot more difficult for the nazis. He was later found and executed. His last words were; “let it be known, homosexuals are not cowards”

I'm gay, Jewish, and the grandson of a survivor. I remember my mom telling me this story semi recently and it's just such an amazing story. Both groups were among many who were in extreme danger, yet he literally risked and lost everything so that countless others he doesn't even know or identify with can be safer. Thank you and R.I.P to all the heroes and victims alike.

Philippines saved 1,300 jews, first country to help jews when it was discuss in the UN which is crazy because Philippines was a catholic country. Not only that but they also saved 400,000 vietnamese, cambodian, laotians.... saved 800 russians, there are also chinese and many more. They also changed the tide back when china and north korea was invading South Korea... Philippines has always help others without asking for a return.
Now Philippines supply the world with nurses, supply the world with chips for computers and phones
Philippines has never invaded anyone even back when it was a rich country. They just like to live in peace and are always happy and singing karaoke. Philippines is always hit by a storm but instead of complaining, they help each other.
