Is there much of a difference in functionality between the 16 inch and the 18 inch ..... I am only getting 16 inch complete but they are selling replacement 18 inch bar and chain ...... Should I do a conversion for better functionality or not

If you're talking about using a 16" picco bar/chain set-up, there is a huge difference in performance over the stock .325 pitch 18" bar/chain set-up. I use the picco set-up on my 250 and it screams through wood. I really like it. Of course you'll need the appropriate sprocket as well. The part numbers I used are: 7 tooth sprocket - 1123 640 2002, bar-3005 000 4813, chain-3636 005 0055.
