Neil Young is The MAN! And this is his "Cinnamon Girl", a classic. Neil described her as a girl walking down the street all dressed in red, with red hair to add to the overall effect. Love the little Guitar riff at the end, that's what makes it. Wrote it when he was sick with a fever in bed, always working.
not dressed in red, and no red hair mentioned, but wearing sunglasses, Neil won't say any more about it, but his band feels Cinnamon refers to personality, not appearances, spicy yet sweet
@@blindriv3rAgreed. He has songs about heavy drugs and people lost to them. He is not unambiguous or in any way favorable about them. I’m thinking of Tired Eyes and The Needle and the Damage Done, and to some extent (by one interpretation) Thrasher. Personally, I prefer to think Thrasher is a more idealistic tale than those who say it’s merely about the excesses of CSNY. All of that said, Neil was no stranger to cocaine at one time, but I don’t this he ever immortalized it in song.
There was a girl named “Cinnamon” in the Haight Ashbury era who was a famous fixture with the hippy music community in San Francisco and later up in the Marin County area where the Grateful Dead family eventually migrated to. Neil was around that scene as well as the Santa Cruz/Boulder Creek hippy community and most likely crossed paths with her and her exploits with the various band members. Remember the Summer of Love era.
If you want something more hard hitting from him you've got to cover his Powderfinger. Set in Civil War times, it is heart wrenching and telling. And then I would also say, Keep On Rocking in the Free World, the live version. You can't go wrong with either of those.
Neil can do ballads and slam it with a rocker, and it's all good. KEEP ON ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD and LIKE A HURRICANE are 100% bangers. Thank you Big Soul Biz, love your commentary.
THE 2 LONGGGGG BANGERS ON THIS ALBUM BIZ ( EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS IS NOWHERE ) ARE : DOWN BY THE RIVER & COWGIRL IN THE SAND 😊IF YOU WANNA HEAR NEIL GUITAR RANTING! 👍😊
Cinnamon colour is is more brown than red. So for me I always pictured a brown coloured girl, like a native American/Canadian girl. Not a white girl with red hair, doesn't matter if she wore a red dress or not. Maybe Neil was a bit colour blind LOL😅
Cheyenne Cinnamon and the Fantabulous Unicorn of Sugar Town Candy Fudge! That was a pilot for a show on Adult Swim back in 2010 for which Neko Case supplied the voice to Cheyenne Cinnamon, which fits doubly because she has fiery red hair. I'm sure "Cinnamon Girl" was not about that character. More likely the other way around. When you're ready for more guitar grit from Neil Young check out "Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black)". And for something more barnyard, check out "Out on the Weekend", "Don't Let It Bring You Down" and "Winterlong". And for a taste of some Neko Case, check out "If You Knew", "Hold On, Hold On" and "Twist the Knife" along with others.
You should maybe peruse 'Powder Finger", "Only Love", "Southern Man" and "The Loner". Not the acoustic version, the HARD one! Just to begin with. You'll come away changed.
Now that you mention it I wanna know what his cinnamon girl was. A friend of mine is saying she was cinnamon-colored. I dunno but I think it's what you said. She was spicy. free spirit.
Pretty sure he's just talking about a chick he saw with cinnamon brown skin. It actually might have just been one he dreamed about. He wrote several of the songs on this album while he had a bad flu and was having fever dreams. Cowgirl In the Sand is another and I do remember that you reviewed that one already.
I will pay for the Neil Young voice and I will buy your record. MAYBE start a GoFundMe for the rap album. I can only finance so far before we both go bankrupt! 😏😂😂🤣🤣💵💳💳💸💸💸
Hey, listen... I know you put this up and couple weeks ago, and maybe you did the voice since then, but if you haven't, what's the Neil voice? That's a cool skill.
The song Powderfinger was offered to Lynyrd Skynyrd by Neil but because of the plane crash they never recorded it I would have loved hearing Ronnie Van Zant sing it!
Maybe she has skin color of cinnamon or tasted like cinnamon. This as a loose version of the song. There's better cuts but you can't like them all. It was a hit so someone liked it.
What a crazy catchy chorus..............Neil wth Crazy Horse is always a blast ....................
NIIIIIICCCCE!!! 😊
Down by the River, & hey hey my my. Outta the blue, into the black & a 2nd acoustic version outta the black into the blue
Awww Biz 1 of my favorite songs by MR.NIEL YOUNG!!!!
I love Neil Young! What a distinct voice and a genius guitar player!
Love how you appreciate Neil's music!
Thank You
Greatest one note solo ever!!!
Should do Live Version of this.....need Ragged Glory....Love and Only Love
YES
NEIL'S A HARD CORE ROCKER!!😍😁🔥🎸
They call red-headed girls back then cinnamon girls, today they call them gingers.
Love Neil Young❤

Funny, I always thought it was about black tar heroin
not dressed in red, and no red hair mentioned, but wearing sunglasses, Neil won't say any more about it, but his band feels Cinnamon refers to personality, not appearances, spicy yet sweet
@@lunadyana3330 not at all, Neil never espoused the hard stuff, only weed and booze

Cinnamon works as a medicinal sometimes.
I've always assumed "cinnamon girl" might a girl with a brown complexion.

Great album! Cowgirl in the sand is one of my favorites on it.
Everybody knows this is nowhere. Who hasn't had that feeling?
AGREED !!!!

Ragged Glory
A slang term in the 60s for heroin was "cinnamon"
I really love this album. The title-song follows this track. Beautifull. The Losing End is also worth listening to.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Neil's catalog will keep you going for a while. Like a Hurricane is tremendous.
Neil can do ballads and slam it with a rocker, and it's all good. KEEP ON ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD and LIKE A HURRICANE are 100% bangers. Thank
you Big Soul Biz, love your commentary.
Red headed groupie for after the show 💥
The girl smells like cinnamon. You can’t deny.
Cinnamon without sugar is Spicy
"Cortez the Killer" from Rust never sleeps 🌹
Young & Whitten never broke up in this world.
Yea !!! My favorite Young song. Different from most of his material.
i married my Cinammon Girl. Going on 48 years. "A dreamer of pictures I run in the night
You see us together chasing the moonlight."
I am my husbands cinnamon girl!
Started dating 1975, at 15
Married in 1980
Lost him in 2014.
Always signed everything to him
Love ,your Cinnamon girl
A cinnamon girl is a spicy girl!
THE 2 LONGGGGG BANGERS ON THIS ALBUM BIZ ( EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS IS NOWHERE ) ARE : DOWN BY THE RIVER & COWGIRL IN THE SAND 😊IF YOU WANNA HEAR NEIL GUITAR RANTING! 👍😊
Raw power from 1969. And the greatest single-note solo ever.
Nope he did much better
Don't forget Tombstone Shadow by Creedence
"Powderfinger," Biz. Neil never released a studio version, so you'll get live performance experience of a perfectly distorted & dark song.
I think we need to hear your Neil impression! 😅😅
Lmao maybe One day
Please do Down By the River, Neil Young. 🇨🇦🔥🔥🔥🌟🤩
There is another Neil Young off this album you might want to check out. "Down By The River".
I think you will like "Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black) by Neil.
Cinnamon colour is is more brown than red. So for me I always pictured a brown coloured girl, like a native American/Canadian girl.
Not a white girl with red hair, doesn't matter if she wore a red dress or not. Maybe Neil was a bit colour blind LOL😅
Try “Revolution Blues” “Walk On” “Tell Me Why” or “Time Fades Away”
I think this is a very good song. For your next Neil, I'd go with either "Like a Hurricane" or "Powderfinger".
Like A Hurricane (live) FTW!
Nope Down By The River
Nope Love and Only Love from Ragged Glory
Only Neil Young could get away with a one-note guitar solo.
You gotta love you got to ceremoned sermon sermon girl
Settlement girl? That's right a ceremony there. I guess it gives a sermon girl gives me a steffy
😅😅😅😅😅
Neil is the king of one note solos.
(Southern man )from the 4 way street album. Kick ass song
Cinnamon, a medicinal, the man was ill at the time.
Try his song " Fucki g up"
Off Ragged Glory or White Line. Some heavy hitters.
To me a Cinnamon girl has always been a redhead. 🤷
How about Helpless or Pocahontas from the Unplugged album
"Like a Hurricane" is next. "Helpless" live from The Last Waltz concert w/The Band as backup is also nice.
Nope Ragged Glory or Down By The River
The "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" album...when Neil and the Horse invented grunge rock 30 years before grunge rock was even a thing.

Dont forget cortez the killer but live, electric version of course
I read somewhere that this song is about Jim Morrison's girlfriend Pamela Courson.
"I want a cake with a cinnamon swirl"😋
Now that you mention it I wanna know what his cinnamon girl was. A friend of mine is saying she was cinnamon-colored. I dunno but I think it's what you said. She was spicy. free spirit.
I read that Cinnamon Girl was written about Jim Morrison’s girlfriend Pamela. She was a red head. (Cinnamon?)
correct, it does not refer to appearances but personality according to his band, Neil won't say much about it
It's the cclour of her skin...maybe black or east indiian
Now you re seeing his good stuff...now you see his electric stuff way better than his acoustic
You should check out Type O Negatives cover.
Natural chick- ares was"granola chick"!

Good song. One of my favorites is Harvest Moon. Always love hearing more Neil...
NopeHarvest Moon too wimpy...Neil's Rock is the best
A newer one Neil Young Indian Giver's
I’d pay you to hear your Neil Young voice. lol BTW, when is the rap record coming out? 😅😂😂😂😂
Are you paying for the Neil Young Voice and The Rap Album LMAO
I will pay for the Neil Young voice and I will buy your record. MAYBE start a GoFundMe for the rap album. I can only finance so far before we both go bankrupt! 😏😂😂🤣🤣💵💳💳💸💸💸
Hey, listen... I know you put this up and couple weeks ago, and maybe you did the voice since then, but if you haven't, what's the Neil voice? That's a cool skill.
That song is even better on the "Live Rust" double album he made with his band Crazy Horse. Check it out and great reaction.
Absolutely.
No it's not
Did you notice the guitar solo is just one note? Easy to really play guitar hero with it.
Harvest Moon
The song Powderfinger was offered to Lynyrd Skynyrd by Neil but because of the plane crash they never recorded it I would have loved hearing Ronnie Van Zant sing it!
Nope way after they crashed stop lying
Young has never said who the Cinnamon Girl is, as he prefers to leave lyric interpretations to the listener.
Cinnamon girl = red-haired, freckled, and wearing red.
Maybe she has skin color of cinnamon or tasted like cinnamon. This as a loose version of the song. There's better cuts but you can't like them all. It was a hit so someone liked it.
This is the original studio version
I think down by the river is a better song ,this one is also just a bit too short
Perhaps declaring a love for marijuana.
Maybe her skin color is cinnamon.
This is Neil Young's ode to heroin(his Cinnamon girl).....listen to it one more time...
Hmmm….interesting 🙂
wrong, Needle and the Damage Done shows his views on that
@@blindriv3r No, not wrong. Cinnamon Girl is indeed about heroin. Just a more positive take than Needle and the Damage Done point of view.
