Well, she never did a talent show but she did just release her first album called "Dawn". You should check it out. She also has a "Tiny Desk Concert" Live (4 cuts from her album) that is fantastic. She is an original. BTW, yes she wrote this song.
“Boomerang” live is a powerful song as well. Not as powerful as this one for me because I really connect with this song, but a great song nonetheless. Her voice reminds me of a mix of Beth Hart with the grit she adds and Adele because she makes it seems so effortless. Just a beautiful voice.
Another really emotional and beautiful live performance of hers is October Sky. Yebba is an exceptionally gifted artist. Her writing skills are so beautiful..
@@Pontus-Osterlin I prefer the acoustic version where she is sitting in a Memphis field. Her mother was a science teacher who sometimes used to bring home bottle rockets that her students made, and set them off for her children to enjoy. She committed suicide in October, and Yebba wrote this song about her.
She writes all of her own work. Her mother had committed suicide not too very long before this and she stopped performing for a bit because the record producers were trying to capitalize on her pain. I am not sure about this fact but I think it was four years until she began to work again.
I would suggest the next song from her to check out is Evergreen, a song for her mother, who unfortunately killed herself about a week after Abbey recorded this song.
It’s true. Here’s her own word: "Every Sunday, I was there. On the front pew in between momma, and my dad's organ," "Since mom's suicide, I feel sick to my stomach if I try to go back to church. However, on this day, it was the only place I could sing 'Evergreen' live."
Have you ever listened to Post Modern Jukebox? They take pop, rock, r&b and even rap songs and give them and early 20th century makeover. If not, you should check out PMJ ft Miche Braden covering Old Town Road m.ua-cam.com/video/c0i3TwIHMmg/v-deo.html and Haley Reinhart covering Creep m.ua-cam.com/video/m3lF2qEA2cw/v-deo.html.
Hello! I see that you like good music. It's time to listen Dimash Qudaibergen, isn't it? There will be many of us, Dears ,with you. Greetings from Norway.
@@Pontus-Osterlin I propose one of the most difficult songs in the world, nobody has managed to make it so moving! Many people start their Dimash adventure from there. Here you will see his vocal genius. Anyway, each song is a kind of masterpiece. Welcome to Dimash world! ua-cam.com/video/W29zEuZVaxs/v-deo.html
This was the performance that got her signed, her debut as a solo artist. Ed Sheeran's team signed her immediately. This video is about 5 years old. She has collaborated with several artists and earned a Grammy with PJ Morton. Her first project is named 'Dawn', after her mother.

However, it's available for download on her webpage where she's accepting donations for mental health awareness. The song is the story of her mom and dad.
@PO_Talks: Pontus, you will have heard YEBBA before if you saw Angelina's recent Tik Tok ua-cam.com/video/q6A5egJjrGI/v-deo.html ... Drake is also a Republic Records artist ... R (Australia)
Abbey (Yebba backwards) Smith.....Surprised it didn't make you cry.....Maybe this one will: Lara Fabian: Je Suis Malade (I'm Sick) ua-cam.com/video/dVvlmpo5g9k/v-deo.html
@@Pontus-Osterlin I think you were more in your head than in your heart when you did this reaction; unlike with your Angelina videos. (Your reply made me remember a long time ago when I was a young man, I had just watched a movie and said to my self, "That was a really sad, sad, movie." And it suddenly struck me that I realized how sad it wa; I knew it intellectually; but I didn't FEEL the sadness. And I recall saying to myself, "Boy, are you screwed up!" You've got a lot of work to do!") That was when my journey began. From reading your last podcast, I see that yours has too!
@103mrg I believe you’re right. First time reactions to an artist I’ve never heard before is difficult. I guess it’s somewhat like viewing a new TV series, it takes a few episodes until you get to know the characters and then you get emotionally involved.
She is weaping in an aesthetically pleasing way
& oh you are the first who noticed she says 'my mind' but she reaches for her heart :')
Yes. Thanks for saying, I thought that was pretty brilliant. Of her, not of me. (well of me too 🤪)

Thank you 🙏 I will check out her album 💿
check out her tiny desk concert please! the first song is so good, you cannot go wrong with Yebba.

You should definitely react to Clark Beckham and Yebba covering John' Mayer's Gravity. Outstanding duo!
Thank you, Deirdre for the suggestion 🙏🤗

Please react Yebba’s Tiny Desk lice performance. It was literally a masterpiece!

OMG That one must be incredibly difficult for her to perform.

Heartbreaking 💔😢
She's amazing. Check out the Boomerang Live stream version. Unbelievable.
👍
You have a Shins poster behind you. She did a cover of The Past is Pending. Check it out
Thanks for noticing 👍 And thanks for the suggestion 🙏
