- This video is meant to be portray the history of the Holy Land, known by Jews in the past as Judea and more recently as the Land of Israel, and known by Arabs by its Roman name of Palestine. It has been done with plenty of research, however may be in worse quality than expected due to local internet issues.

well, "The holy land" would be a term that refers to the area, and is applicable to (as they both regard it as a holy land of their respective religions) and mostly accepted by both sides of the conflict.

It’s also just the English translation of ‘Filastin’ which is the Arabic name of Palestine.
The Roman word is derived from Philistine- the Philistines were the people that existed within the modern day Gaza Strip and large portions of southern and coastal Israel.

This comment section is an atrocity. You cannot argue for the basis of a state on Historical borders from over two thousand years ago. Should the Kyrgyz then seize their far off ancestral homeland? Should the Romanians be expelled from the Balkans to Italy? This discussion is on the same level of these afformentioned questions. Most of these commenters are out of touch with the reality of the matter of Israel/Palestine, and that is that thousands of innocent people on both sides who didn't deserve what came to them were mistreated, beaten, lost their homes, and were even killed.

A lot of the anti-Israel rhetoric I see online is heavily nationalist in nature. All about "we are the rightful owners of the land, you are the invaders" as if that carries any relevance to today. I can't see these people as the same as the ones protesting in colleges to free Palestine.
Israeli Jews, while they are significantly mixed with Europeans, do descend from the ancient peoples of the region (not the Khazars), and yes, the Jews faced expulsions from the land under the Roman Empire. However, the Palestinans are also indigenous and have even more DNA from the region. They descend from the various peoples who lived in the land, Jews, Arabs and yes even Canaanites. They adopted an Arab Islamic identity after the Islamic conquest, but that doesn't mean they are from the Arabian peninsula.
People migrate to different lands all the time. People mix with different peoples. People adopt different cultures. It doesn't mean they should be treated less than human. It doesn't mean they should be expelled from their homes. It doesn't mean they should have to sit and watch their children be slaughtered. That's what the pro-Palestine movement is about. It's not about who owns the land and who doesn't. It's simply a protest for human rights.
By making it about nationalism you totally ruin the credibility of the movement. It's no better than how Greeks want to take back Constantinople because it used to be theirs. It's just poisonous discourse. We can never find common ground this way. And importantly, it will never free Palestine.
