Having talent makes coaching easier, and GMs look like geniuses. We know it is a trap shoot. It is just nice to win that crap shoot. That's all. Not with this regime. The way they have gone about team building is the opposite of how you build a contender. Paying a free agency QB big money doesn’t lead to super bowls. And even if Penix is good they will waste 2 years of his rookie contract which is vital to building a Super Bowl contender as well
Not really, there were only about 8-10 impact rookies that were even picked in the 1st round last year (Stroud, Anderson, Witherspoon, Bijan, Carter, Gibbs, Flowers, Addison). None of the defenders this year were picked before #15, not good at all and says alot about how the NFL viewed them. We couldn’t even come to a consensus of who was the best defender. Better to secure your future than hoping a player becomes better than their ability shows. Much weaker class for defense this year, the rookie sack leaders were Day2 picks. The draft is what you are projecting them to become, not what you did in college.

@@MrDrsogood i liked Rome also but he has a very similar profile to Drake tbh. I think we need that route running technician rather than another Drake. Penix also elevated all those receivers at Washington. Check their numbers before he came. We still don’t know if Kirk won’t have any hiccups with the Achilles. Not high on the qb class next year either. Penix is already better than all of them now and a year of learning iis even better than forcing him out there immediately.
