Fly Tying Tutorial: The Purple Warrior

Thanks for sharing Lance. When would you use this INSTEAD of a Rainbow Warrior? Do you replace RW’s with these because they work better, or do they serve a different purpose? I can’t imagine giving up more valuable space in my box if it doesn’t offer something more under the same conditions. Thanks again.

Any. It also fishes well on an indicator rig or as a dropper below a dry.

Bought a umpqua nymph leader and it’s terrible it isn’t straight and you can’t notice the hits at all the leader just stays bent unless I use a huge split shot and drag it across the rocks

Try straightening it by stretching it with your hands. You have to do that with all leaders.

I have found Rio is the best for consistently good leaders, or learn how to tie your own.
