Thank you for this video. I just inherited my grandmother’s Singer 185J and am learning it’s ins and outs. My grandmother used to have a bridal shop and used this machine, as well as a couple of others I just inherited. :)
One error. The thread goes through the needle from left to right, not right to left. This way --------> . I have this machine with the original manual.
Hi I just bought a singer 185j and I was wondering if you happen to know what size replacement belt I should use and what kind of other singer base I can use? This video was very helpful thank you!
Hi Yue Catalina! I'm so glad this was helpful. You need a 14" belt. When you say base, are you talking about the table part? I found a Singer brand belt that's compatible with the bobbin belt (those usually need to be replaced too) for $5 on amazon: amzn.to/3DQVxJO
@@ReadyEmKay Thank you so much I really appreciate it! I mean the base for the carrying case I can’t find any 185 cases so Im trying to see what other singer case it may fit.
@@ReadyEmKay Thank you so much for all your help I saw those as well. Also I found out that the 185 will fit a 99 case I really appreciate all your help. Have an awesome rest of your day!
Nope. It just gives you a flat surface to sew over where the bobbin is. Just make sure you're really careful not to drop stuff in, and I could clean out the bobbin area fuzz more often since dust and bits can fall in more easily.

Oh wow! That's incredible! Congratulations on the new machines, what a special thing to be passed on from your grandmother. 💕

@@yuecatalina I've looked around quite a bit, and all I can find is wooden bases people are selling on etsy to fit old sewing machines.

@@yuecatalina you too! I'll have to remember that that'll fit it for mine too if I ever take it out of the table.
