**Disclamer** I do not own the song! the lyrics were taken from the internet! I don't care about what "whack for the toora loora lay" is suppose to be.
Since this is from 7 years ago I know you're not 13 anymore but I'm 16 and my father had this on a CD for me when I was little I've been looking for this song for forever and just found it lol Just wanted to say kids are still listening
@@rtyner101 I was 15 when I discovered celtic music with Loreena Mckennitt and Celtic Woman, at the time I wasn't able to speak English, it's so good to come back years later and understand everything ❤
Every time I hear this song, or others like it, it makes me wish the aesthetics of bygone years would make a comeback: The cobblestone streets lit by gas lamps, the flowing dresses, the more formal way of speaking, etc. Also, when the ladies are joined by the other singers at 1:40, I love it! Giant choirs make everything amazingly epic.
𝐼 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 from Japan🇯🇵🍣🗼❤ When I was little,my mom let me hear this movie.I still remember. I'm happy, connected to many people in the world by this page. Sorry for my bad English. Thank you:)
I agree, the English lyrics don't mean what the song puts into your heart, pure joy. I've been lucky enough to have seen them in concert three times & each time I loved them all the more. I'm learning Irish Gaelic & it's a bit tricky, but well worth the effort.
Missing verse: I wandered north and I wandered south and then across the ocean wide. I'll always remember the Spanish Lady. She would then become my bride. Old age has laid her hands on me, cold as a fire of ashy coals. Where is the lovely Spanish lady, the maid so neat about the soul?
A lot of Irish folk music has made-up words mixed in, sometimes just to help keep the tune. They miiiight be loosely based on Gaelic words, but they're completely meaninglesss. c:
i I just love this song, it reminds me of my Irish wife who is now washing her feet with the spainish lady and all the angels. her irish mom and irish dad are happy now .
I will quote Sean Cannon from The Dubliners: this song is "about a woman who came to live in Dublin; she became known [there] in Dublin as the Spanish Lady, because she was from Spain." End of story.
now it's whack... whack is a comment "word" used in what's called irish mouth music. it's kinda of like american jazz musicians and scatting (doo be doo type stuff) and it's Whack for the tura lura li, whack for the tura lura lay
Got it. Thank you for the Info. I don't know much about Celtic culture but I am learning. And friends like you help to learn a lot. In my culture we have the same thing. So many folk songs have different lyrics. Thank again for helping me to understand this.
Does anyone else think its actually "One for the tune o' loora lai, One for the tune o' loora lay"? This would actually make sense, as the spanish lady is singing while brushing her hair etc.
To me it sounds like a person going to Dublin City, and where ever that person went always ends up seeing the Spanish Lady, who seems entrancing to the person who can't help it but watch what she does.
+秘密クリス It had sense if they were English pirates, but the Spaniards protected the catholic Irish people, and they let them set on Spain and join their army, their navy and their administration as if they were Spanish too.
@Arwen2634 Well for information about Celtic Woman, the email is info @ celticwoman . com. If you want to send messages to them, the members all have Twitter pages, which you can follow. Hope it helped! =D
I heard the same song tonight but the chorus was totally different. In the version I heard this night the female vocalist simply sang the chorus counting backwards through even and odd numbers. Strange.
As I said I took the lyrics from the fucking internet. It's highly likely that it's suppose to be sole since sole is the underside of a shoe or boot. So for the last time, I do not care if there are mistakes on this video. Seeing people placing useless comments saying "you did wrong" when I copied, is just annoying.
@MewMewChild And this 1 pressed the wrong button :') Well, it is about a girl walking around in Spain. She is repeat the same old thing. She sees a spanish lady. :) So it's a song about what she's doing, kinda. :) That would be summing it up :) Look at the lyrics for a better explanation :)
@MichClarke They say it in choir in the end so it is really more than 5 times. And in case you have nothing good to comment >I would be grateful if your wouldn't comment. i think you should say thanks, cause this lyrics can't be fond everywhere on yt. And this is my first Lyrics in this kind of format, so please don't give me bad confidence.
@The4DeadSouls if its about a lady in Spain why does it say Dublin city? Last time i checked Dublin is in England (or Ireland one of the two). Just felt like pointing that out
@knoeri1 That is what i was saying. If it is about a lady in Spain, then why does it say Dublin? I was correcting the poster of the comment i replied to
I'm sorry the first 19 seconds sounds like an epic Orchestra gearing to an action scene in the beginning of a movie and to me that's kind of funny because it slowly trickled down into a more softer Serenade almost a nursery rhyme
@The4DeadSouls considering it says shes in dublin i dont think shes in spain lol and its usually sung by a man its about a man that sees a spanish lady that he likes
I’m not really sure if I’m fully Irish . My dna or a dna test I should say , said I’m 20% Scottish and 18% Irish . But I’m mostly European so I think I’m half and half 🤔🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Okey i'm just gonna say this one more time; I do not care if it's gonna be "whack for the toora loora lay" or "whack one for the toola" or anything else! You people should be grateful that this video is uploaded, since it nobody else made a lyrics for this song. No, I'm 13... My grandmother first introduced me to Celtic music and I love it! It's not all JUST for old people:)
Since this is from 7 years ago I know you're not 13 anymore but I'm 16 and my father had this on a CD for me when I was little I've been looking for this song for forever and just found it lol

Very well said, in my opinion. I think this is why a lot of people love to cosplay.

I’m gonna be driving home tonight singing “Whack for the toora loora lay” at the top of my lungs.....
Oh well, that’s not a bad thing 🤷🏻♂️
Missing verse:
I wandered north and I wandered south and then across the ocean wide.
I'll always remember the Spanish Lady. She would then become my bride.

They're such an amazing group. Hugely entertaining and morvously inspiring.
Irish music and Spanish women. Two of my favorite things! :D
xD
lol
Hohoho a person of true culture I see 😏😂
I'm so proud to be Irish and scottish
i may not be Irish, but i love Irish music
i I just love this song, it reminds me of my Irish wife who is now washing her feet with the spainish lady and all the angels. her irish mom and irish dad are happy now .

One more comment if you don't mind. Learning to sing this song helped me not to stutter, (at least most of the time) Thank you
Listen to the Great Contralto Kathleen Ferrier singing this. Wonderful. 60 years ago and still unsurpassed.
This is my favorite song! I fell in love with them becuase of this song!
My favourite version of this song... :)
Spain used to be Celtic as well. Lost Celtic languages there include Celtiberian et al.
And I'm Filipino, German, Scottish, Irish! I love my Scot/Irish heritage!
The bridge reminds me of “Mo Ghile Mear.”
Also, I was hoping that this would be the “Spanish Ladies” shanty, but this is still good.
That moment when you realize that the word “shanty” comes from the word “chanting”…
I know for a fact that this isn't their song, though they sing it beautifully.
They and The High Kings REALLY need to collaborate
This song is so beautiful! :D I can't stop listening to it it's wonderful, if I don't listen to it I just HAVE to sing it~
one of my favorites
now it's whack... whack is a comment "word" used in what's called irish mouth music. it's kinda of like american jazz musicians and scatting (doo be doo type stuff) and it's Whack for the tura lura li, whack for the tura lura lay
I’m probably gonna start singing this during my first trip to the Bar, after my first beer
Everybody listening??..😄😀🍀😎🦋😄💤

Actually, I heard that the awful disease influenza was nicknamed the 'Spanish lady' , at one time. I love the tune!
You made my day!
Thank You.
I love, love, love this! Thanks so much for posting this!

I love this song
@jodi777yadu Happy you like it! :D
Tell me if there's any other songs that don't have a lyrics, cause I wouldn't mind doing another lyrics! :D

Love it
Great song !! Thanks for uploading this :DD

THE SONG IS OBVIOUSLY ABOUT AN IRISH PIRATE, THE AFOREMENTIONED SPANISH LADY IS A SPANISH GALLEON LADEN WITH GOLD.
Just kidding.
+秘密クリス That actually makes sense...
+秘密クリス If you want a CW song about an Irish pirate, go to "Oro Se Do Breatha Bhaile" and "Granuaile's Dance"!
+秘密クリス It had sense if they were English pirates, but the Spaniards protected the catholic Irish people, and they let them set on Spain and join their army, their navy and their administration as if they were Spanish too.

The opening reminds me of the T-Rex fight in Final Fantasy VIII.
The song is not fully sung. Female choir won't sing about it.
Wait a minute they didn't sing the sad part of the song D: Then I like this version much better!
@TokoLocoToko U just made My day >:P
YES!!*eats cookie*
I would be the Spanish lady! Teehee :)
65 to 1? xD
Very cool. I love the song and you made the lyrics really good. But what means this song? :D
WAIT WHAT THE HECK?!! 10 THOUSAND?! O_O
loralie (sp) is the name of a siren in german myth. but yes i believe thats what the lyricas actually are.
my surname is scottish do i get credit??lol

"A maid so sweet about the sole". lol
sdusas
Maybe I did wrong on that line, but I think that line is mostly for people to sing-along ^w^
@kickthecommie Thanks X3 I was starting to get worried O3O
@MrKiller870 Guess so? xD
Okey i'm just gonna say this one more time;
I do not care if it's gonna be "whack for the toora loora lay" or "whack one for the toola" or anything else!

@Irishgirl116655 Ohs noes!
ocelote like this song wtf :D
🦋💤🦋💤
*gives cookie*
._. I always thought that that was the lyrics.... You know, because she was washing her feet? But... I suppose "soul" would make a lot of sense...
0:47 who is she?
U know wats funny? I have an OC that’s half Irish half Mexican... this is perfect 👌
@lovemykitty1000 Awww, no problem :)
One more view and we're up to 14.000!!! :D
