- All Steamed Up, Inc installed a 4 section 80 series Weil-McLain steam boiler and used a Carlin power flame burner in place of the usual oil burner. CSD-1 boiler code requirements are touched on.
Gordon, I can tell you are the master boiler Wonderful job, you right, The SHMUTZ, but your Job is a SHAYNE, lol I have the same boiler,
model 80. I was wondering if we can speak offline; located in phila, PA
Gordon you are the steam Jedi master guru, lol
Nice work. Those Carlin's are great
I thank you. You do me too much honor!
Amazing work 👍
Thanks again!
Interesting setup! Your thoughts on the advantages of the 80 series in these small capacities as compared to the EG or EGA series?
@ David Cordes: I would say that the 480 WM tends to have a smaller footprint than the equivalent EGH series (a 12 section!). Also, the piping is simpler in that generally only one outlet (albeit a 4", but that keeps the exit steam velocity waaay down ) is needed. The EG series is purely residential, as you know.
The overall thermal burner efficiency is usually higher with a power flame burner as opposed to an atmospheric burner type such as the EGH.
The only advantage of an EGH over a 480 that I can think of (besides maybe price) is noise. The EGH is much quieter, hands down.
good morning. i was wondering if we can speak offline about my steam boiler.i cant seem to find anyone around me that knows steam as well as you do
Thanks for your comment. Where are you located?
What is the function of having a two separate safety shut off valves and how are they wired?
They are wired in parallel to the best of my knowledge.
Code has required for many years (since a major series of gas explosions due to an overpressure event) that all automatic gas fired equipment to have at least two redundant independent gas shut-off valves.
