McCoy Tyer's music is pure spirituality,
without limits, it's about giving oneself, it's what comes out from inside, what he did until the last even when, his health did not support him and his right hand had almost abandoned him, he still had the same spirit, that spirit that can only reach people who perceive him with an organ other than the brain.

I saw this band in NYC. One of McCoy's best line-ups. Eric Harland top notch! Great post.

Agreed! McCoy is one of my very favorite piano layers. I absolutely love that percussive left hand playing that was characteristic of John Hicks and Joanne Brackeen. Erci Harland is a fantastic drummer! And not enough can be said about master Bobby Hutcherson. I met him at the Monterey Jazz Fest a few years ago and we had a great conversation about his music. I saw him the first time in San Diego about 20 years ago. Love his playing!

This gives me an opportunity to acknowledge McCoy Tyner He is also on my list of favorites on piano from long ago. I used to have many of his albums never focusing on the bass player at that time.

@benricelawsantacruz I've been a Kuumbwa Jazz Center concert goer for over 30 years, have seen Mcoy, Elvin, and Pharoah play there among so many other giants. I'm with you on that sentiment!

I've enjoyed both these icons in the last year (Kuumbwa forever!) and they still bring it despite aging. Great video. See em live if you can. Peace

Is it just me or does Hutcherson come in early? It's only a couple of bars into the head that Tyner joins in.
