Learn to master Jazz, Blues and more / membership Frank Vignola and Bucky Pizzarelli perform Moonglow in Sacramento, California at the KVIE PBS Station in 2012.
I feel like I just jumped back in time…..Times when the world was kinder, and people were sweeter. We worked harder, and laughed more. It is a joy to hear all these older songs, even if it is to reflect on all those days. God bless us all !!😘
The world was no better before than it is now. Black people were enslaved by white people, world wars were raging, I don't quite understand what you were trying to say :)
It's 2 years in the future and the political landscape is so much more disturbing and grotesque than you could of imagined. The good part is that this performance of Moonglow reminds us of the good things in the world even that much more. I say play on!
Musical artistry at its finest. Not trying to outplay each other. God rest the soul of Bucky. He will live on through his musical catalog. Thanks for all the great music Bucky! A life well lived.
pagegirl1507 - Now that you mention it, I can't think of ever a time I saw Bucky try to out play anyone. But, WOW, he could play along with anyone. Now, That's Class...
Plus he also gave us 3 very talented kids: John and Martin, who are both amazing jazz musicians (and John can really sing), and daughter Mary, who is an outstanding classical guitarist. He will be missed.
I've never seen anyone at that age perform so well, be so present. That's really inspiring, most of us will be lucky to be alive at that age never mind improvising live jazz lol
The only other name that comes to mind performing so well at such an advanced age was Doc Cheatham - he was still playing right up to his death, just short of his 92nd birthday
Eric ~ You'll be surprised at what you will be able to do at "that age" if you kept family close, worshiped God, loved his son Jesus and just tried to live the best you could for the good of mankind. I think these are the things that Bucky did and he lived a long time. Stay well and whatever you do in this life, do it for the glory of God. You will be rewarded mightily!! SYLVIA-FL 6/25/2020
Met Bucky at the jazz guitar festival / workshop in Wrexham,North Wales several years ago. What a modest, polite , mannered charming man he was.He had played with every star singer you could name, including Ol' blue eyes himself in a select dinner party at the White House for President Reagan and he was so understated about it .He reminded me of a gentle ,informal headmaster from the small local primary school instead of the long time master virtuoso of the Jazz guitar.R.I.P. Bucky.
I saw Segovia in '76, he was in his mid 80's, somewhere. Crotchetiest old bugger I ever saw. But he played like the master he was. Boston, Symphony hall, no microphone. I was about 10 rows back, dead center. He messed up the Bach Bouree and had to hit the start 3 times before he got it going. At least he didn't start playing scales, which my teacher at the time told me he would do if he messed things up too badly. Glad to have gotten to see him.
Actually he had 86 here (it was in 2012) and even so it's a remarkable experience to see a so aged person playing well and confidently like this. At that point of life only ONE single year can mean a huge difference. I watched a video of his last public appearing at Lincoln Center (92 years old) and he barely could hold the guitar. He was trying hard but everything you can hear is an eventual buzzing and detuned sound coming out from the instrument. It's very sad to realize what time will do to all of us.
Whenever I hear this beautiful song, MOONGLOW, I can see Kim Novak and Bill Holden dancing that SEXY dance they did in "PICNIC", WOW. I love Bucky Pizzarelli's music because he always plays the "classics". SO GOOD. I am sorry he his no longer with us, but we have JOHN Pizzarelli. SYLVIA 6/25/2020
My dad used to go to see Bucky play a few times a month back in the day, and they casually knew each other. I was fortunate enough to meet him and see him play as well at Ramapo College. I've seen Frank play several times with Vinnie Raniola(sp?). These guy are fantastic. It makes me wonder about all the hours they put into being so great. Amazing! RIP Bucky and thank you for your service to our great country in WW2.
What a magnificent display of True Talent & Artistry. The ending was so equally Great when Bucky could be seen with his trademark huge smile & laugh! This Great man absolutely LOVED to entertain.
Hi David, check out George Van Eps, who showed Mr Pizzarelli the advantage of 7 strings, also John, Bucky's son and Howard Arlen, a young whippersnapper...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Van_Eps
Sorely missed. Thankful for him and glad Frank is around and will be for a LONG time . . Such greats! Same class as Chet... well, for that matter, I could go on and name quite a few . . But all I know is , besides LOVING the treat to me ears, I also may burn all my guitars. That will be a treat for my warmth.. . (I’ll burn them in the fireplace) hahahah
I love this! It so much reminds me of my mom and her brother, my uncle, in summer evenings playing together. Not as perfect, but close! A joy to hear this! Thanks for posting!

Bucky's one of the greatest rhythm guitarists ever. An underappreciated skill in a world filled with shredders.
ALL CLASS Frank Vignola and Bucky Pizzarelli. X FACTOR.
This just reminds me of all things good in the world. Amidst this grotesque political landscape, this was a joyous breath of fresh!

We don’t need to bring everything back to politics lol

Yes, you're right. We all need to close off the world some and retreat to fanciful realms of peace and eloquence. It helps relieve stress.
Pure nectar.........

So so beautiful. How can anyone give a 👎 . Must be musically dead.
Or a moron. This is beautiful music.
Butch 78 I totally agree with you. Super delightful and lovely 😊
У старого прелесть гитара, очень красиво звучит, и музыкант он похоже со стажем музыка нам говорит
Bucky was a legend, playing up to the end of his life, with the awesome 7-string jazz guitar.

Come to Chicago...hit up all the bars we have a lot of old timers that play that great!
Doesn't hurt that these gifted gentlemen chose to play that particularly beautiful movie theme from the fifties..Moonglow... gorgeous.

One word: Masters.
not everyone likes jazz, but jazz can be comfortable when heard with a clean heart and soul

RIP Bucky
Never had the good fortune to see Bucky live, but I did see Segovia when he was around 90. Age is no bar if you have the ability. R.I.P. Bucky.
I saw Segovia in '76, he was in his mid 80's, somewhere. Crotchetiest old bugger I ever saw. But he played like the master he was. Boston, Symphony hall, no microphone. Absolutely!!
Bucky is 90 years old here. Still got the touch
Just love to hear Bucky play and frank too, he was actually 86 in 2012.

I played this arrangement. Bucky is GREAT Guitarist, in the past and in the future. Rest in power, from Japan.
I've watched this a million times. Never gets old.
Even as an elder statesman of jazz. Mr. P. could still swing. Puts a lump in my throat.
Great 2 italiens! Wow this is a Legend! Oh a story!2!👍👍👍👍🇮🇹🇮🇹
Piano player here, one of my all time favorites tunes and one I memorized decades ago.

Not even a month since his passing and I am really missing Bucky Pizzarelli!
Bucky Pizzarelli, an enormous player. He will be missed.
I love the power and emotion of 3 chord Rock-N-Roll, but I really admire the talent here. Beautiful.

Excellent - very nice. It's good to see Bucky showing what can be done when you're over 80...
John Bresnik I'm not trying to be disagreeable, but he's showing what Bucky Pizzarelli can do past 80.
Faaaantastic playing.
My father went to see Bucky perform. Was one of my dad’s favorites.
I saw Bucky playing with Stephene Grappelli back in the 90's it was magic. RIP to them both
