Which reason for low or no sales do you think applies to your current low-content publishing process, and how do you plan on addressing it in order to get those sales rolling in?

I have over 500 listed and only sold 12. I'm thinking I messed up with the keywords in the beginning. I was only using single keywords. My plan is to go back and fix a few of them each week all while continuing to publish new books.

I just found your channel and your "Three Steps" instructions. They are excellent! I found information that I hadn't seen before.
I just sent my first book to Amazon, a planner-organizer with extra lined pages, contact list, important dates, and weekly and monthly calendars, gathering information from various UA-camrs and their videos. Not to mention hours of trial and error learning Canva. But I did it and I'm glad! 😂
Again, thank you for the instructions. I wish I had found them several weeks ago when I started this journey.
    Best wishes from Colorado 😊

I think low content publishing is just as demanding as writing a fiction book, if you are making books from scratch and trying to put out quality low content books.
I am planning to quit low content in December, it's been nearly one year and I've made a few odd sales. I cannot even cover 1 month's rent with the money I have made.
I make journals from scratch and I have sold 1 copy in the USA and all my other sales are in the UK and other parts of Europe.
I was so excited about publishing my first book a year ago. Now I am exhausted and frustrated.

    • @RachelHarrisonSund

Hi Mica. LC publishing is definitely more work than most people anticipate, and success can depend on the skillsets a person already has in place when starting, as well as how much time and effort a person is willing to spend to fill in the gaps in their skillsets. If you've made some sales then there's no reason you can't learn how to amplify those sales. But you definitely need to feel in your gut that continuing to pursue LC publishing is the right thing for you to do. Whatever your decision is I wish you all the best in your endeavours.

      Mica L,
Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart. There are no guarantees, there are plenty of dead-ends and rabbit holes, and your patience and belief in yourself will be tested. I'm a newbie and still in the learning curve, but my last small business took SEVEN years to build up to a sustaining income. What I have been able to glean from researching KDP is that it is an evolving, "organic" process. In other words, your external success will be the result of internal factors such as persistence, discipline, mindset, and the ability to adapt and make changes when things are not working. If KDP is not for you, and as Paddy at Stackin' Profits says, You cannot see yourself doing KDP long-term, then cut your losses but celebrate the "détour" and all the new things you learned. Good luck to you.

I love watching your videos. Very helpful. I think I was lulled into a false sense of success when I began. I sold over 40 LC books my first month (Feb 2020). Then covid hit and my sales plummeted to around 5 books sold the next month. (Many were travel themed!) I kept uploading in new niches and then began publishing in a niche that is the same as my main business that I run. My books are selling, but only about 2-10 per day. And, yes, it is the 80/20 rule. I sell the same 10-15 books that generate most of my sales. I am unsure how to ramp up more sales. I have done all the things you indicated in your video. Perhaps I need to change keywords? Anyway, thanks for the tips. Great video as always!

Thanks for your comment! The two main areas that most people need help with are keyword research and design. You could definitely try switching up your keywords and categories to see if that helps. I'd also get another set of eyes on your designs for some feedback in that area. I would say that this is where people really tend to struggle the most if they have no background in art or design. Keep me posted!

Jade Summer has copyright issues, the team has been 'stealing/ripping off' from other artists. Reports were made but Amazon did nothing. I believe they offended some of the big names or they cost Amazon money by what they did and Amazon did something finally. Amazon rarely bans people without a good valid reason.

    • @hellomartywoods

Jade's case is similar to James Alexander case. If you do shady things with Amazon and get caught, it's good bye to your account. Although I am sure they'll find a way to come back into Amazon.

The LC space is severely oversaturated with copy cats and plagiarizers, or people slapping something together quickly and thinking it will sell. But buyers aren't stupid. They can see the mimics and the low-quality efforts and they're not going to spend their money on it. I have one LC book that I made, but I researched a particular niche, talked to people in that niche (my ideal buyers) to get their feedback, added my own creative spin on it, designed it in a high quality, and after a few months of marketing it, I'm now making $1,000 per month from that single LC book. But I put real time, thought, money and effort into it. I ordered test copies, and when the page details were misaligned, I fixed it and reordered it again to test it. There are so many people doing this now, so if you enter this space, you have to come creatively and with a good, original product. My unique idea has done well, so of course, now I see the vultures trying to mimic and copy my exact ideas and designs. It's gross, but they won't succeed that way. Their books won't sell trying to mimic someone else's concept.

    • @kaysee482

@@amberana Nope. Amazon doesn't protect or respect you owning any creative rights unless you have formal copyright (typically for a novel or manuscript, not a journal like this) or trademark (which, I looked into it, and it is very expensive to apply for and tricky--you need a lawyer to navigate it). In the end, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. Amazon Marketplace is a kind of free for all. Amazon themselves will mimic the products of small business sellers and undercut them with pricing. So it's not a surprise that they allow this to happen to everybody else. My low content book still sells well, but I'm getting to a point where I think looking into other alternatives (meaning, not strictly selling on Amazon) is the end goal for my product.

Hi Sam, the best way to get a customer on your email list is to provide a URL to a freebie inside your book. The customer can go to that URL, download your freebie, then they're on your list.

    • @RachelHarrisonSund
      @RachelHarrisonSund  3 роки тому

There are many LC publishers who are earning significant income (covering all of their expenses and saving any additional income) but it takes time to build up and everyone comes with a different skillset. I would say if you have 400 books live and are earning $15 a month you'll need to go through each part of the process I outlined in my video to see if you can make any improvements. This will take time, and even once you get it right it will take more time still to start generating more and more sales. I would definitely hold onto your job and see if you can improve your LC publishing results on the side until you've determined if you can start generating more sales. It took me several years to earn what I consider to be a full time income-I don't say this to be a downer, I just want to be honest and realistic with you. I think it's best to come at this business model as a source of side income that you build slowly over time so that it's not relied on solely in the beginning. Otherwise there can be too much pressure to make it work quickly if you're in a tough financial spot.
I wish the best with it and please keep me posted.

Hello and thank you so much for this video. Very informative for a beginner like myself. I was able to recognize why my books are not getting any sales. Could you clarify in the optimization area where you mention 'title information and keyword slots'
    - should low competition keywords used in the 7 keyword slot be long tail keywords or short tail. For example, for a number tracing book, can i use keywords like gift, birthday ideas for son, homeschool (provided these are low competition) in the 7 keyword slot?

This isn't advice anyone will want to hear, but unless you're willing to put in serious work to stand out, low-content books are NOT for you. The market is extremely saturated now that it's a popular niche. It's barely even niche at this point. To those who missed the train, don't worry. There's always new trends to jump on, but you need to be ready and listening or you'll miss it.

It's the same reason why a lot of really great books, art, and other goods aren't selling; because the market is full of wanna be artists (who are awful) and wanna be "writers" who are awful. The market is SATURATED. Weeding out all of that flim flam takes the patience of job and most people don't want to wade through a pile of novices just to get to the good stuff.
