Rest in peace to that guy in chat who held the secret
That's me.. thanks ;p
@@SkalnyEscapists
I also played it a lot. I want others to know this move though. If they put the pawn on f3 instead, it is way too boring...
After e5 real grandmasters have played Nh4 and the knight is not trapped with g4. Just don't play pxp after e5.

what secret?
The suspense. I wonder if he’s gonna put it on UA-cam.
We're on UA-cam right not.
redorange really?
I guess we will never know.
probably not. There are too many people there who do not understand sarcasm
@@jam-hu Lol 😂
The video should've been titled "how to slay the Sicilian dragon"
with FACTS and LOGIC (GONE WRONG) (GONE SEXUAL)
first of all I always slay it

“Most effective against anyone below 1800.” Well that’s me buggered then! 😭
Thanks Twitch chat for voting yes :D
We've got your back!
Me: It might be fun to learn the Sicilian Dragon.
Eric Rosen:
It IS fun to learn the dragon. Don't worry about the Levenfish, white has much more dangerous systems. The thing with Levenfish is just that it catches beginning Dragon players off guard because your normal move order is a mistake and you didn't know it because you spent all your time studying the Yugoslav Attack.

Watched this video this morning, literally only a few hours later this evening got this exact position and my opponent played the line ending with Kf8 (losing the queen) and resigned after I played Ne6+. Epic!
As a dragon player -- Noted.
Same here, I haven't seen this variation before.
I didn't know dragons could play chess
Does anyone know what the refutation is?
Lukebomber Don’t play Bg7. Play Nc6 instead. It isn’t refutable as it’s actually respectable, but black is alright with careful play
me playing accelerated dragon? Am I exempted?
This variation looks amazing! At the worst, your pawn is forever sitting in front of black's dragon bishop making it useless. I love it! Perfect timing since I've just started taking up playing the open sicilian, too :) I've probably seen this position over a dozen times already, so I can absolutely see this working. Thank you for the video! Can't wait to try it out in games.
and after 7.e5, the best move is actually Nh5
The hyper accelerated dragon laughs at all your puny threats
The Maroczy Bind laughs right back at it
@@odysseas573 You can't force the Maroczy Bind on the Hyper accelerated Dragon. You might be confusing with the Accelerated Dragon (and even then, the modern line prevents from using the Maroczy Bind. Besides, modern theory tends to show that the Maroczy Bind isn't that bad for Black anyway).
@@reallynobody9748 How do you avoid the Maroczy Bind if, for example, White plays c4 on move 3? I think the likely continuation is 3...Bg7 4. d4 cxd4 5. Nxd4 6. Nc6 Be3, and there's the bind. Or, what's the plan after the more typical 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Bg7 5. c4, again reaching the bind? If you're going to play the Accelerated Dragon or Hyperaccelerated Dragon, I think you have to do your homework and figure out how you're going to get counterplay against the Maroczy Bind - I see White win a lot of games with it by just sitting on the position and waiting for Black to fatally compromise his position.
Accelerated dragon is stupid
@@zanti4132 3.d4 Bg7 avoids the Bind and 3.c4 Bg7 4.d4 Qa5+ also avoids the Bind.
But you can also perfectly play the bind if you want as it is not as powerful for white as people usually think, in fact this is probably the best way to go for black as there is extensive literature on how to fight against it.
0:15 when stockfish already calls the dragon an inaccuracy :'(
lol
Oh, a fresh tip
"Don't upload this to youtube with a clickbaity title"
Rosen: Lol I'ma destroy this man's whole opening repertoire
“If he takes then I take” magnus
At 3:54, black can play Bxc3 and then move his queen.
No real good place for queen though, if Qa5 then Bb5* pins the knight stifling blacks development & it's Qb6 then bc4 defends the knight, with Nb7# & Bc7# Qd5 coming its close to mate. black's best move Rf8 just allows white to trade-up
@@bluewiz96 if Qa5, i think you meant Bb5. If So then Nf6 removes the pin from bishop which is then threatened by the queen. In the other line with Qb6, i think you meant Ng7 and not Nb7. But i don't get your Bc7#?
@@zschokks5583 apologies yes Nc6 removes pin but bishop is defended or lose queen to Nc7 fork so can ignore, would suggest white castles. Stockfish for Nc6 goes +1.0 to +3, as for the other line i cant seem to find the exact sequence anymore, but it appears to be winning by +4 if Qb6 Bc4.
Love how Eric came up with the name and then stuck with it exactly. Including the caps.

OHHHHHH SNAP
XD
I Just reached 1800 Rating on my Lichess & I face the same problem defending against these threats 🤒
Dude if I'm black then most of the time I get crushed by the Yugoslav and if I'm white then dunno how black attacks me first and I have to defend the entire time!
@@g73hc3gsv3i 😁Sed
But Mostly I do defend these positions I think because of the low rated Attacker
i actually won a tournament game with this opening but my opponent responded with e5 instead of bg7 and had a beautiful bishop mate. 10/10 opening
the problem with dragon players is we are too much in a hurry to put the bishop on g7 here if black plays Nc6 before Bg7 he is fine.
nc ive learned a lot from stafford variation.. now crushing dragons after move7. thx Eric
Jonathan Schrantz said Eric is the best youtuber out there for chess content. I have to agree.
I think Bishop G7 then knight H5 in response to E5 is practically better and the database supports this (white has a 44% win rate), through stockfish thinks it's +0.2 for white.
G4 is common to attack the knight but you can just take the f4 pawn, and if the bishop takes back you take e5 forking the knight and bishop.
8:32, hello from the future
Ohhhh! Us UA-cam Plebs are now sooooo blessed with Twitch content!
:P
Over 30 years ago Jon Speelman showed good results with 6Bg7 and 7Nh5 for black....
Eric Rosen: after these moves white is already much better
Stockfish: +0.1
😂😂😂
At 3:55, why can't black trade the bishop for the knight on c3 with check, and then move the queen? It's still a terrible position since white will probably stop black from castling with Ng7, but at least it's not a fork, right?
I'm not so sure i wouldn't prefer white's potential from there...IF it can get O-O eventually.
Hey Eric, Thanks for uploading this right away to youtube. I noticed some people were trying to enjoy this line against me ;-)
Thank you, Eric. The Sicilian Dragon is the opening I use most often and found this very helpful.
THANKYOU I PLAY THE DRAGON AND HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THE WAY TO DEFEND AGAINST THIS FOR AGES!
Love the way you teach the game. Thanks
Not clickbait because the title is painfully accurate
Your lessons are the best sir.please make a video in dutch defense opening and strategy plans in dutch
3:00 cause they resign after losing the queen XD
Thanks
I was always confused how to counter the Sicilian dragon❤️❤️
Glad this was upvoted to UA-cam. I'm not on Twitter but you're making me consider it. Do you stream daily?
ok I am going to learn this way. I was planning to learn the close opening, but I guess this works out too
According to IM Keaton Kiewra, Black should play 6. Nc6 7. Nxc6 bxc6 8. e5 Nd7 9. exd6 exd6 10. Be3 Be7 11. Qd2 0-0 12. 0-0-0 d5 and idea of Bf6 Rb8 and Qa5
I love videos like this. Please make more!
twitch chat: DONT UPLOAD THIS TO UA-cam!!
Eric: nah we dont do that over here *uploads*
Thanks for this lesson!
Oh no my favorite black opening :(
Daniele Magnaterra just play Nc6 and you’re fine
@@toesdoeswhoknows704 How about e5 after f4? Thanks.
Randy King since the bishop is on g7 instead of e7 the pawn on d6 isn’t defended well, ideas like Nf5 and Nb5 can appear coordinating on the d6 pawn
Randy King forget what I said about Nf5 I remembered g6 was played but the position is similar to playing e5 before a6 or Nc6. Bb5+ can come exchanging light squared bishops which weakens the control of d5 a critical weakness for black. Nf3 can be played to to put pressure on e5 and if exf4 white can develop with tempo and strike the d6 pawn
@@toesdoeswhoknows704 Thank you. Thought e5 thrust by black would stop e4 thrust by white with only a minor pawn trade. I see now d6 defender of e pawn not well defended. Thanks for your time! Studying sicilian for variety after french, slav, pirc etc. Interesting but definitely a challenging defense.
Follow up question. Did chandler or monica prepose?
At least it avoids the main lines the black player has prepared and it has still some „trap value“. And it seems to be quite solid...
I can't believe you closed the poll down so fast without counting the mail-in ballots!!!! :-)
Thank you very much Master
Awesome video, as usual, but you missed a golden opportunity. The title clearly should have been: “How to SLAY the dragon...”
Thank you very much, Mr Chat sir
I was one of the 10,000 people haha good video as always Eric! ❤️
Oh no this line was my secret too
I loved watching the creation of the video and title in real time
What happens after
9) e6 fxe6 10) Nxe6 bxc3+
You gotta take the bishop or move the king out in the open. This way you trade your bishop and get your queen safe with the next move
Is this saving black or am I tripping?
you will escape for a while but c7 square will be a huge weakness in your position (the knight fork) until you castle or move your king cause you wont be able to hold off just with queen. your development will be worse and you lost the whole merit of dragon Sicilian by sacing the bishop. so still a sucky position.
@@nekosalad8308 That, and the knight on e6 is the strongest knight ever and black is not castling anytime soon.
But at least you don't lose the bishop. The advantage is positional, not tactical.
@@victordeluca7360 yes but tactics come from the side that has better position. so unless white blunders the tactics will emerge in a few moves.
Follow-up question: how do I force my opponent into the Sicilian Dragon after 1. e4 ?
This trap is so cool eric thanks
6:25 hello to you too
Thx SOooooo much this was SOoooooo helpful @!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
“Trappy Dragon Line” somehow made me think of an alternate universe where Jake Long became a drug dealer
lmfao wtf
I'd totally like to see that
Really really good!!!
I just losed 4 games now i am 320😂
3:55 there is Bxc3
Ur right
It’s not a proper clickbait title unless you use the phrase “with this simple trick”. Seriously though thanks for this - as a dragon player it’s really going to help me be prepared
I love this line
Thanks! This looks scary
Nc6 is the refutation
I like how no one understood the 11 fish joke lol
What if black plays bishop f4 instead of a knight move? Counterattacking the queen
un bonjour de France! Super continue tes vidéos, très intéressant !! I hope i can play against you a day !
Actually 9996 players fell for it, I fell for it 5 times...
Soo this is the reason my horses can't fart from those damn pawns last couple of days...
my beloved dragon😭😭😭😭
Why is the best response N. c6 and not N. d7?
Eric: Is e5 after f4 a good move for black? Thanks
Great content but it won’t affect me because I always play the London as white 😁✌🏻
Title could have been how to slay the dragon. No? Ok nvm
As a dragon player, thank you
There are really several ways of meeting the Levenfish. The main line of Nc6 is reliable but can be a little dry. A double-edged alternative is Nbd7, which usually reverts back to play akin to a classical Sicilian. Finally, black can fall for the trap and still come out of it ok. One line is 7. e5 Nh5; 8. Bb5+ Bd7; 9. e6 fe; 10. Nxe6, which looks dangerous until you see the antidote, which is 10...Bxc3+; 11. bc Qc8, where black has good chances for a win. All in all, this is not a line to be recommended for white against anything but the weakest opponents, which you will probably beat easily in whichever of the main lines (Yugoslav, classical, fianchetto, Canal, Grand Prix attack, KIA) you like. If you really want a trappy line against the Sicilian then the Morra and WIng Gambits are both better than the Levenfish imho.
What is this software?? What amazing tools to learn chess.
is the london more of an defencive or offensive style?

Oh yes this is almost similar to the Sicilian Defense Mcdonnell attack.

What about pawn E5 instead of defending with the other knight

Levenfish is easier to face rather than the yuguslav attack..
