  • What's up guys,
So, today I will show you something that messes up newer white belts when they get on the bottom of someone's mount.
the Mount is one of the most miserable positions to be stuck under in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In general, White belts' ability to escape from pins is an issue.
That's why I'm addressing it today.
Another big issue is that many of us freak out due to lack of experience and trap ourselves in our partner's mount before we even get a chance to escape.
If you do what I'm about to show you, and you're a white belt that gets submitted every time you end up in Mount, you'll definitely see some quick improvements in your overall Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Mount Escape game.
Hopefully, you found the ideas in this video helpful.
    Thanks for watching!

As a new white belt, I'm great at isolating my arms so my opponent can get a really solid high mount and submit me. I didn't really have to drill this, I just automatically knew how to position my arms for the fastest submissions possible. My opponents often say "submissions are numerous and easy, like cherries low on the tree".

Haha. I'm sure your rolling partners are appreciative for a great drilling dummy. Hehe

Without you new white belts we wouldn't be able to do fancy, totally useless crap in the mats that we saw on youtube. Thank you new white belts.
      Regars, all purple belts

    Shout out to Brandon 👊.
I am visually impaired as well , I have a condition called Stargardts, it makes it tough to see the final details of what’s going off when my coach is teaching the class.
Great to see other visually impaired people in this sport

Oh man, that little detail about pushing with the elbow was key 👌 The whole video was great. Thanks Chewy!

The fun thing is this answers two questions, how to more effectively defend mount AND how to more effectively attack mount. I hadn't really been thinking about the principle of isolating an arm and this will really help! Thank you for the video!

Amazing, thanks. When I focus on keeping a frame on their waist like this, some white belts then get a forearm either side of my neck and begin a choke. I guess that's because I'm giving them too much time in mount? I need to escape sooner?

HELLO chewie could you do one of this about side control
I am getting stuck way to much on side control and I got stuck there in my first competition and now I feel like there is also a physiological block in that position cause now I can barely escape even newer white belts than me 😢

similar, you need keep your own elbows close to your own body. take back your arms from being isoalted, just like in chewy's video.
Go check out brian peterson's peterson grappling channel. he already has tons of side control escapes and fundamentals, theres like what, 5 or 6 ones?
      1. bridge/shrimp - guard
      2. ghost escape to anaconda i think
      3. phantom escape related to #2
      4. use kimura/roll him if he's dumb
      5. turn on to your own knees , when #1 doesnt work
      6 i forget
i think #2/3 are used if opponent is using the 'doorstop' with his hands to block the #1 escape? i could be wrong tho, but is some kinda variation
you have to have familiarity with all the core 'directions' of escape, so you can rapid fire while unbalancing his top control to expose some weakness, and based on how he tries to regain control

I feel like every time I start framing from bottom mount they just rip an Ezekiel on me. It’s frustrating

What's your thoughts on "smother taps"? Got a dude in my class (fellow white belt) who is super bad for it. Really sucks and it feels cheap.
