I taught myself the piano because I love the sound of it and started writing my own stuff in the mid 90's. I recorded my first and only album so far in 2014. I fully intend on creating more music.

Listen without Prejudice is a masterpiece album; such an apt album title. So many people underestimated his talent for songwriting, both lyrically and musically.
This has to be one of the most emotive songs ever
Lifelong George Michael fan. This song was never released as a single. It was on Listen Without Prejudice. Lots of great music since them. Lots of hidden gems on his albums.
Anyone with a child will get their heart wrenched by this song. I’m a veteran and served my time in the Navy and proud of it, but I can never fathom the thought of losing my own child over senseless wars.
Watch George at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert do Somebody To Love. Then see him do his unplugged concert for MTV. But the absolute best is George doing two songs at the European mtv awards at the Brandenburg gates. Amazing.
FYI if I’m not mistaken this song is his antiwar song. The lyrics are beautifully sad.This came out, right around the time of the Gulf war.

This song did not go down well with many people. Especially America, because it's about the hopelessness of war. A mother losing her son.
Americans know nothing about George Michael turned their back on him because he was gay and refused to play his songs on radio while in the rest of the world he was a mega star I know of no other singer who wrote ,produced and played most of the instruments in their songs and never ever sung off key and was outstanding live .

In fairness, he turned his back on them - by purposely reducing his level of stardom. It’s well documented. He refused to promote his work, no videos or tour as he couldn’t cope with megastar level fame after faith. Whilst around the world this attitude didn’t hurt his sales or stature - America works very differently. You need to have a profile, you need to be seen and you need to promote if you want to stay relevant in the USA.
If you look at his Freedom video - he tells you that he doesn’t want fame at the cost of his freedom. He proceeds to blow up all his iconography; the jukebox, the leather jacket, etc.
Was obvious he didn't want to promote his music as it was all a lie he was a gay man being promoted as a pop star for women and not who he really was
@@caricatures9155 initially he was happy to promote that image too (the I want your Sex video with his “girlfriend,” Kathy Jeung. But as he grew older and more confident, comfortable with himself and less fearful of losing his career - that’s when wanted to stop pushing/promoting that image. That’s when the issues with the record company started. Also, he was unhappy with his % cut from his records. George spoke about these issues on many occasions. Check out his interview straight after he lost his court case with Sir David Frost.
I’m a huge American fan and have all of his music from the time he was in Wham! until he passed away. Saw him a few times in concert and was blown out of the building as to how amazing of a vocalist he was. I can understand why people think that Americans turned their back on him once he knew he was gay but that’s not entirely true. If you haven’t seen the Freedom documentary that he finished only two weeks before he passed he talks about why he stepped away from America. He himself stepped away after Faith because he couldn’t take the fame and intensity of the popularity he had. He said he was going to lose his mind and he needed a break. He was coming to term with the fact that he was gay and did not want to portray that sex symbol image any longer. Of course Sony wasn’t having any of it as they wanted that image to remain. It has just made them $250 million and they dug in their heels.This was one of the reasons he backed away from the US market. He remained massive in the rest of the world and the US missed out on a lot of great music. He was for a period of 20 years the most played artist on UK radio. That alone says everything. Not to mention he was known as having one of the best voices in the business. I’m grateful that I have his catalog of music. I will always treasure it.

Thanks Sam. I fixed it on my title. I wasn't a big follower of his. I only heard him through the radio. Faith, I believe was the very first song I heard from him on the radio and it was the hottest thing out at the time. As a teen, I hated the fact that he was stealing all of the girls' attention away. Lol. Maybe that's why I get his name wrong.
@@AmmaronReaction you must have heard him sing Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, as part of Wham!? It’s in nearly every bloody movie (Zoolander, Charlie’s Angels, etc). Then you have Carless Whisper (it’s played at the end Credits of Deadpool), with its famous saxophone riff?
Both Carless Whisper and Faith were the number 1 singles of 1985 and 1988. He is the only solo artist to have 2 year end number ones and one of two acts to do so (the other being The Beatles).
Yes I agree. He’s one of the best selling artist of all time and many people think his last name is Michael’s.
