That thicker new steering wheel has a hands-free sensor. You could take your hands off the wheel and it would navigate itself for a while before it sounds a warning to place your hands back on. It's a pretty sweet feature if you dozed off the wheel while driving long distance.
Great video!! You really did a good job talking about the small details and the Tech!! 2 thumbs up my friend!! 👍👍
Thanks so much! I appreciate the kind words!
I have a 2019 R-Line SEL Premium 4 motion with 20" Wheel package. Absolutely love it!
Its all in the details my friend and you sir don't miss any, you're definitely doing it right. Great vid, you got a subscribe from me.
Thank you very much for the kind words, Oscar! I really appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the video
Love this car. Great review!
Thanks so much, Kurt!
Spot on... Nicely done, Guv'Na!!!
Great review, watching this as I’m getting ready to buy myself the ‘21 Arteon R line.
How is it?
@@lionintusorry for the late reply, it’s beautiful and I love it. Nothing extraordinary with speed but it’s a smooth ride.
Amazing video, btw does it comes with HUD ?
It's on my short list, so this was helpful. Nice review/ overview of a handsome artful car.
Glad I could help, Chris! Thanks for watching
Ditto....what else is on your shopping list?
@@roryusa77 2021 Acura TLX, and I may wait for the much anticipated 2023 Mazda 6 redesign with an inline 6 engine. I have a soft spot for the Arteon though due to its utilitarian hatchback and handsome design.
As one who is considering purchasing one, I'm hoping that the rumors are not true that VW may discontinue the Arteon in 2023. Keep the Arteon as a flagship and offer a V6 for the upper trim.
@@ChristopherB806 There is A DSG coming apparently with more power. Closer to the Golf R. I'm waiting to see if that's true before pulling the trigger.
That Neat little studded bar is called a Bumperdillo
Thank you so much for telling me that! Made my day 😁😁😁
Almost got one back in 2019,it drives great and looks amazing in person! Just wish they would have come down a little in price. They wanted full MSRP for SEL Premium R-line that I wanted.I may reconsider it when my current leased vehicle comes due,I just wanted them to come down a little more and I would have done the deal, the current car I have got many rebates and incentives so couldnt pass it up where there werent any on this car and the car I got is slightly quicker with a decent turbo in it although this is more refined vehicle overall and its beautiful car in person especially if you need a bigger 4 door as Im larger guy and like the seating and room and the design has great storage space almost like an SUV.
What did you get instead? Accord 2.0T? I'm cross-shopping both of these, or even a stinger if I can get the right deal
Definitely want a VW Arteon SEL Premium R-Line after I pay off my Nissan Altima
Great review, just can’t wait till they update the Passat which is in dyeing need of a major refresh.
I think they’re killing it off...😢
Yep Passat will be discontinued in 2023. :(
TOP & BEST
VW Arteon ~nice car
really very very good
Nice video and vehicle. I like it
Thanks for watching, David
Lovely and amazing. It is like an Audi A7 with nearly half price. I think it should take a bigger market share from Mercedes E Class & BMW 5 series globally. Thanks for the video review.
I do not think it will take sales from E class and 5 series. It is aimed for a market just below those price points.
It is a luxury market section were Audi, Volvo, Lexus and American luxury such as Buick, Cadillac and Lincoln occupy. Mercedes and BMW do not have any products down in those price points.
Love it!!
Nice video bro.
Thank you!
Leasing a 2019 Jetta R-line... want to trade in right now though.
Love it ...
13:45 that blank button behind the Parking Brake is for Auto Hold on my 2019 Golf R (holds the brakes and keeps brake lights illuminated even when you take your foot off the brake. Useful at long stop lights/in drive thru's). Not sure why they left that out on the Arteon
im pretty sure its automated now or something?
@@miastroof I think you’re thinking of Hill Hold Assist, which is similar, but only works on hills and only holds for 2-3 seconds. Auto hold works on any terrain and holds the brakes indefinitely. You can take your foot off the brake (at a stop light for example) and it will hold the brakes indefinitely until you press the accelerator
I just test drove a '22 or 23 arteon. The auto hold start/stop button is there behind parking brake and its properly labeled
13:41 that would be Auto Hold Button on Golf 7’s I don't know though what it would be on this one.
Anymore the low profile wheel/tire combo scares me. I would take an 18" wheel with more sidewall as soooo much more practical, esp. since so many cars do not have spare tires anymore.
Also, is there any form of HUD available? I have never had one, don't know how practical they really are, but the technophile in me kind of wants one.
I’m actually now looking for a lightly used 2019 model just because it still has a better warranty.
I've got a 19 SEL-P with 14K that I'm looking to trade in for a new one. lol
I have a white 2019 SEL Premium R-line with 10,000mi I'm thinking of selling. Gonna get a new 2022 Golf R. Live in PHX metro if your interested
Just got a 2021 CPO with only 800 miles, warranty with CPO is 6yrs/74000 miles in total
What’s with the change from last years Dynaudio to HK? Are the components speakers and amp the same? The Dynaudio was amazing in previous gen VW products. Is it just a badging change or a cheaper system?
HK own JBL and are known for their bass response. So the speakers are made for modern contemporary music so expect some bass in the Arteon. Dynaudio makes Studio Monitors so you would expect clarity in the mid-range. They are known for having a good range (frequency-wise) on the tweeters. I guess for a car you would want smooth transition in the mid-range smooth highs and deep bass. I guess HK would therefore fit in that category especially for modern-day music which is made on KRK Monitors, Adams, Genelec etc.
Good insight, thank you!
I’m not sure why Volkswagen removed the auto hold button/feature. My 2011 VW CC had it and I definitely miss that feature in my 2019 Tiguan SEL premium. I see more manufacturers are including them now. Just not sure why Volkswagen would remove it. My CC also had 12 way front power seats, yet my 2019 top trim Tiguan has manual passenger seat. I don’t get it VW. Oh and the CC had DSG transmission!
Waiting for the 316bhp R version to drop in the UK!
Did you get it?
Wait for the 2022 if you want 300hp and 7spd DSG instead of 268hp w/ 8spd torque converter. It's definitely on my radar next year.
No 2022 coming now
@@ordinaryworld5522 Huh?
I just bought a 2021 and was told the 2022 line was cancelled due to sales. In Canada, anyway. Contributed it to the demand for suv's and trucks and people not anticipating to pay in excess of 50k for a VW.
@@ordinaryworld5522 In the US the 2022 is still on track to be sold later this year. Currently available to build on the VW website.
Which year in the US gets 300 hp? I thought it was 2021
My VW Passat from 2012 has down projecting door logos, so that is just a newer design. ;)
What is your take on a tall driver for this car? Like 6'2..
I’m 6’1. No issues. You should be fine
Thanks from rolling out of your nap to shoot this video.
Sorry there weren’t enough loud noises for you, Eric 😪
Boo garage door opener?
I know 😒
No homelink?
Unless I missed it, I don’t think so
I think it’s time to trade a cc for the premium version of his car
‘Super Premium’ X22
this calld passat cc facelift
I do like the car...u just have an issue with reliability. I had a Passat and loved it but the problem was that the parts department knew me by my first name. That's not good.
It’s a beautiful design, but it has a lot of plastic into the cabin! It’s a premium car, it shouldn’t be like that.
it's arTeon not arDEON
never understood why anyone would get this.... sure its a nice VW, but for that MSRP price you can get a A5 sportback prestige O_o
Nowhere near the same money. These Arteon's sell way under MSRP. That wouldn't happen with an A5 they're far more popular.
Used
I know this is subjective but the wheels look absolutely ridiculous. They turn the whole slick look into a clown car. If this car was on my shopping list I would have to budget a replacement for this hot mess on top of the price of the vehicle. Not to mention the 35 profile. Why. I don’t get this obsession with large wheels. It always impacts performance, comfort and economy.
Why can’t we just stop complaining about stupid stuff and rejoice that this is the only European vw we’ll probably ever see. Mainly cause vw knows Americans are cheap!!!!! Bye bye Touareg people rather spend 100K on a Tahoe with a crappie Cadillac badge then 60K on a well built European suv. Then when they take the car away from the American market like the Touareg people wake up and what one. Tech that’s all you hear today,I’m old school and the se model is just fine for anyone… people are weird and picky.
Good looking car just like the previous Arteon, but they didn't change anything about it that would actually make it sell. Still no DSG transmission and no true R version with more hp...
DSG is there in EU models
@@riky3 Yeah in the US we get the crappy 8-speed auto instead. Seems like the DSG would be standard on their flagship car for our market. There’s just no reason for it
No reason to get this over a Kia Stinger GT or the competition
Price. Exclusivity. If you want the same features on a Stinger you'd have to go at-least GT1 and they're more money.
I'd rather buy a hyundai sonata n line or a Honda accord
I love the Sonata... I have a set of videos on it
@@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville Different class but the N line is fire! Arteon is Entry level Luxury!
If the media system is anything like Audi’s MMI your home link should be embedded in the MMI ... I couldn’t imagine VW not adding this feature on their “premium” coupé
