Me too man! Especially since i saw the historic TransAm racing for the first time. These boys run the cars hard and the racing is tough but fair. The cars are legendary classics! They still bang doors too!
My dad had, i believe, a '68 Javelin. One of my first memories is him ripping through the gears with me & my brother's in the back seat. I was a gearhead from that moment onward! Thanks for everything dad, i love you RIP ❤
nah his tyre was clearly having issues for a while and you can see it was nearly down on the rims it had lost so much air. prob felt an unnatural dive on one side before it burst, normally that Gen 2 Javelin gaps everyone else for a good while before what you spoke of, namely heat, catching up to it..
The Camero was dipped, not the Javelin. The Javelin DID, however, have a special vacuum system to make pitstops faster and had the brakes of a Porsche 917. So, It was a rule-bender to.
Thanks for th video. The announcers should be talking about each car's history and the drivers of those cars. Tired of "back in the day". Andretti is OK but the other guy is not. Also, this is not a race, it's an exhibition. Drivers push the cars and will compete for a position but will not take the chances required to pass or defend during a real race. The cars are irreplaceable time pieces of history.
@@nolanmiller8062 That sadly doesn't surprise me, seeing how poorly documented racing from that time is. It's a miracle we have the stories we have today!
Every time I watch old Trans Am footage, I still wonder why NASCAR is the top racing series in America but not Trans Am.
Yes!
Amen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Wish we had something similar to the German DTM (before they went to GT3 cars) and the Japanese Super GT with their class one regulations.
If I were to guess I'd say it's because Audi came along and stomped all American rides in the 80s.
Hands down best looking cars of all time, must have been great beeing alive in the 60's and 70's.👍

Greatest race series of all time, IMO.
as a javelin owner i can confirm, they run great at first, break, come back, and then underpeform. but still nice to see one out there and alive!

Ford fan or not, how cool is it to have their CEO ripping it around the track?
The peak of car design, no Ferrari will ever look as good as this field
What do I need to do to join in as a driver?
Were the Camaro and Javelin bodies acid dipped also like Penske car were back in the late '60's and early 70's?
Everybody dipped

I wish they'd turn the volume down on that annoying British announcer's mic and turn up the volume on the engine/track noise
Beautiful, undoubtedly! But I expected some Aussie style racing not cruising in a line.

What is the difference between an exhibition and a race
@@james41x41 Exhibition is for showing things off.
Wow this is simply unbelievable !
Very interesting to see a race where no one can afford to crash !
Wow this is so awesome I wish all racing was like this !!
_The Safety Car... "You boys are gettin a lil out of hand !"_ bahaha
Just wondering why no Dodge Charger and Cuda participating in this race.
I See a Challenger out there
They are both in there. #42 'Cuda started 8th, #77 Challenger started 18th.
Trans am and gt racing is so much better then nascar and even f1
I wonder who made the decision to use a Lexus as a pace car. I can think of 8 better selections.
Have anybody ever used a 71 mustang in trans am
Don't know, but I'd love to see that!
I have heard there was one at one time but can't find nothing

Yes it sure is
Muscle cars? I only see one "muscle car" out there. I do see a lot of muscular pony cars.
This a good video ruined by excrutiatingly bad commentary.
