- Here's a short video on how to upgrade the Kemper Profiling Amp. It's really easy but if there's anyone out there feeling a bit insecure about it... here's how! (in this video I'm upgrading the Kemper from 3.3.0 to 4.0.6.)

So I need to download 7 zip to extract the file to put on the thumb drive ? I’m completely new to computers never been on one
I did manage to download the 8.7 update and right clicked now put file somewhere ?
Actually I would recommend getting a USB cable and do the updates via the Rig Manager, its so much easier... Sorry for the late reply, let me know if you need some additional support.

@@haveguitar I'm struggling with this process as the Rig manager i downloaded is the latest (3.0.140) but it doesn't recognise my Kemper which is currently running with the OS 7.3.1. As I understand it , although I am new to this machine, I need the OS 7.3.2 for it to allow me to upgrade to the latest OS which I believe is 8.0.2. Hopefully then it will recognise my Kemper and let me in to use it basically.

@@haveguitar I don't think I can use the rig manager to upgrade until I actuallyconnect with my Kemper. Which means I have down load two OS's etc and load them manualy with the USB stick. Would that be your understanding..?
Thank you for making this video. I was having trouble as I'm a new customer and am not used to updating Amplifiers. I went out and purchased a USB 2.0 and performed what I thought was the correct action while reading the PDF instructions included in the Zipped folder from Kemper containing the update. I failed. Your video was short and to the point without skipping any details and it showed you visually what to do.
I wish every instructional video was like this.

Maybe have been simple but a MUCH needed walk through for me... FYI in 2022, start the Kemper with the empty/formatted USB already plugged in and it will create the 3 folders required but it won't say anything on screen. then follow the rest of the video

too many words, but very small informations... you have to show how to connect a USB flash drive for the first time to Kemper that the Kemper Profiler will format it to ensure maximum reliability.

i followed the steps and copied the kaos.bin into my usb. i pluged into the kemper but nothing happened. any idea why not??
Try restart it with USB stick attached, then it should find it. Or connect the Kemper to your computer and run the upgrade through Rig Manager!
Have Guitar but i read i should have the latest Version of the opersting sysrem to be able to download the rig Manager. Isn‘t that right?! Thx for such a quick response!!! I will give it another try ass soon as im home!!
@@TheNimasan I think its the other way around... usually it will tell me to upgrade RM first. anyways, upgrading is a lot easier through RM. You can check if you want to install betas or not and then its all done through RM. Let me know how it goes!!

how do I tell what operating system I currently have ?
Go in to the system menu through the System button, I think the version is shown somewhere in last pages (My Kemper is away on service so I can check it exactly!).

@@haveguitar thanks. Yeah, that’s usually how I do it, but I got the OS10 beta release with liquid profiling and the only way to do it is with usb since Rig manager doesn’t recognize it as an official release yet.
@@tjblender1 you can change the settings so betas will/can be installed through RM (unl3ss theres something exteaordinary with that release)

Well, it didn't work for me at first. The instructions say put the update in the root folder OR the OS Update folder. So I put it in the OS Update folder and nothing would happen. I had to move it to the root folder as you did to get it to work. Simple enough but it had me worried at first.
Yeah, been there and done that as well. However, you know that from the later versions of Rig Manager (1.6 if I remember it correctly) you can install updates via the Rig Manager? It's a lot easier than doing it the old way.
I've read that you can upgrade through Rig Manager now, haven't tried it myself yet. So, I guess you usb connect your Kemper to your computer where you've downloaded the update... start RigM and point to the update file. Will need to check that out!!
Have Guitar you can update the firmware through Rig Manager now! I just received my Kemper Thursday and upgraded it that way.

Whats the point of this update? I puchased some profiles and only some were recognized by the usb device. Any reason the other were not. I extracted them and everything. Do i need to update my kemper?

I`m a complete novice and old man... not tech savvy , It helped a lot. I`m sure i`ll be back.. Could ou move in for a day, and fix it all for me. I have yet to fathom out how to download, The M Britt Nr1 Pack i`ve bought. I downloaded the 7 Zip app you suggested.. So here`s hoping. Are you Scandinavian by any chance.??? Not weird, I just lived in Norway for 10 years and your accent sounds Scandinavian. Thanks for your simplistic approach for us dim wits.

Mike has been great... But i`m really screwed, I can`t seem to suss this unzip crap.. It`s just before i throw the whole lot out the window.I backed up my Kemper. (Not sure why we have to keep using empty sticks. Expensive.

I was trying to follow the instructions given by Kemper and nothing was happening. At the same time I was starting the Profiler with the usb already plugged in (of course, after the download and copying the kaos bin file).
Not until I watched your video did I realize to start the Kemper Profiler, then insert the usb. …And voila, the instructions to proceed.
It felt like forever to figure this simple task out. …And Kemper kind of glossed over this step.

thank you, i just bought my kemper and i trying to get familiar with it. how do i put the profiles that came with the update file into the kemper?
hi, import the rigs to Rig Manager (free dl from kemper website). connect your kemper to your computer. Now, if you rightclick a profile in the rig manager you will preview that rig on the kemper. if you like it, press Store and now its stored in the kemper. Hope that explains that? thanks for watching!

Yes, there's a "favorites" function in the Kemper, it's described around page 138 in Kemper manual!
