Clicked on this because Boiler Up. Hammer down. Also those iconics sound sick.

Something in your studio is adding a bunch of noise, and I know, because I've had the same issues. You hear that almost crunchy/crackly sort of noise, that's not the amp I'm pretty sure. I had the exact same kind of noise, and it was literally caused by a lamp I had plugged in, and sometimes I'd get a similar noise come through my amps from my wifi router. I know a boosted amp especially, your gunna have quite a bit of noise floor, but it shouldn't sound a crackly, and weird like that, and even after you had your gate in, it was still there. That's a huge sign it's actually dirty power, or something in the power, like I say appliances etc. Sounds weird, and I didn't think a lamp could cause that much noise, so it took me a min to figure out when I first had the issue, because it was a light I used almost all the time. As soon as I turned off the lamp, it went from that to almost nothing. Especially with humbuckers, like I say, you should have a bit of noise, but it's more like that lower sounding constant hum. This type is more like a high crackle. The other thing that can make it more confusing is, sometimes amps can get a similar sounding noise going on, almost the same crackly, almost staticky kind of sound, that can be constant, or constant with intermittent loud crackling, and that's usually from two-three things, or a combination, and those are usually bad Power Caps, which is kind of like the regular low 60 cycle hum, but only it's way louder than it should be, then the higher crackly/staticky noise is usually, and I say usually, because there could be other reasons, but usually I've had it from bad grid, or power resistors is a big one, and it often happens in Mesa's, because they use resistors that are often under rated for the voltage on them. Then, if you have bad Power caps, and that issue, or just multiple noise issues in general it can get really bad. The thing is, that 5150 is so new, I couldn't see it being bad caps, or resistors, though I mean, you never know, or there could be some other culprits in an amp that cause similar noise that I didn't touch on, like a bad tube somewhere, or some bad transistors, or something, but point is, I think you might be having a similar power issue like I was having from something in the house, or dirty power somewhere. When you have the noise going, try turn off, or unplug some different stuff around the room, and see what happens. All I know, is that amount, and type of noise isn't normal.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely look into my power situation. It's easy to forget about things like lamps and wifi routers when it comes to noise. I ordered a couple Furmans to try and test. The other thing is that the DJI wireless mic may be adding to noise floor, when I was “playing” it wasn’t fully muted so I think it was causing interference to the picks. Thanks again for the heads up really appreciate it!

Not rude at all. My skills are pretty basic. Just love gear!
