I been through Oakland my buddy was telling me about people's park in Berkley its sad all across America homelessness has got outta control I live in Pennsylvania but I been to 42 states my sisters up in Anchorage Alaska I was up there a few years ago even there there's homelessness
In 1984, I spend a night on the streets in minneapolis with fellow social work students and it was exhausting, like I've never experienced before. this poor lady looks so worn out, needs TLC.
Much love to this program for allowing these faces to be shown. They are human beings. This has been going on for way too long all over America, and it's growing.❤
People in this country need to slow that mad dash, and recognize that the human beings are sleeping on the streets. Most of us that follow invisible people, already know this and help all they can. We hope this lady finds somewhere warm and comfortable to spend the rest for days.
America needs to stop declaring war and bothering other countries. They don't even see or care about this. Demand city officials to build affordable housing or resign them!!!
I was the vice chair and interim chair of the Alameda County Advisory Commission on Aging from 2017-2021. We worked very hard to keep seniors from ending up in predicaments like this. Senior housing is a huge problem with too much red tape. She should speak to the commission so that they can hear what she has to say. Her voice is very important. I was born and raised in Oakland and did pretty well for myself. When I looked at my retirement situation I realized that it would not be comfortable at all given the continuous rise in prices. I decided to sell my home and move to Georgia where I got a brand new one built for a third of the price of my home there. If you can get out then get out while you can. I was lucky but there are many seniors who are not as fortunate as I have been.
good to see you back, Mark, always love your videos, you do great work. God bless and God bless all our homeless brothers and sisters. Dave, cokato, MN
Invisible People thank you for continuing to be out there in the field. You have a very respectful approach to your interviewing. I was homeless in Honolulu for a period of time. You sir are a great man.
I PLEAD THE MIGHTY NAME AND BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST UPON THIS POOR LADY AND UPON ALL HOMELESS PEOPLE TO BE SAFE PROTECTED AND HAVE THEIR OWN HOMES AMEN 💜🙏💜
There are lots of tiny house villages made for homeless people without any kids, right - in Texas, North Carolina and many other states already - even for disabled older people - just go and make some research on google - instead of just praying - some christians should go and try to help themselves with the help of case workers - Jesus will not come and do your job.
This is so heartbreaking. Oakland was such a beautiful place when I was growing up. Homelessness was not as bad as it is now. Driving through Oakland is so depressing now. My heart breaks for our homeless relatives. Everyone in office needs to step up their work and implement more emphasis on low income housing. Gentrification is so devastating to our people
I am 64, disabled and homeless. Trying to live out of a van in the NYC area. I became homeless when the house I was living in was sold in November. I had section 8 but lost it because I didn't use it fast enough to find another place. Never realized how hard it was to find housing that fits section 8 guidelines. Everything outside of the slums and housing projects is incredibly expensive I get $1498 a month in SSDI. Seems like a lot but falls short of a living wage. I tried to supplement by working for cash occasionally but it's inconsistent and it doesn't qualify you for housing. If I work p/t on the books, the government just takes it so you can't ever escape the slums. Moreover, it's nearly impossible to find any employer who will deal with the mentally ill. Even part time. No one has the patience I never committed a crime except working off the books. Never smoked, used drugs, or drank. I always tried to devote every cent I earned and all my time towards positive things. Since becoming homeless, all the life has been sucked out of me. I've always struggled with depression but this time the major depression is off the charts. I don't think I can withstand it much longer. There is no help. The psyche hospitals are horrible. They have no outside resources to refer you to. No psychiatrists and no housing, not even supportive housing. I won't even bother going that route again. Section 8 is overwhelmed and lacks any "choice" when it comes to housing. You can go into senior housing and rot or go to a housing project. Other than that, there's nothing. Basically, no matter how modestly enjoyable your life might have been before homelessness, it will never be the same after. Plan on losing everything that was familiar and near and dear to to you and adjusting to a whole new lifestyle. This is not easy when you are in your senior years. I pray for everyone dealing with this. I'm sick of people looking at the homeless with disgust. They are not all dangerous, mentally ill drug addicts. They are homeless for a variety of reasons and we can't fix it with cookie cutter solutions. People need the ability to improve in their own way and we need to support and help those who are trying to better themselves. I tried to improve and was doing well for awhile until I became homeless. I can tell you, none of these government agencies that are supposed to "help" us are on the same page. The case workers in these places are generally idiots. HUD had it's rules and they vary across the 5800 housing authority. Social Security has it's rules. Food stamps has it's rules. Senior housing has it's rules. Medicare and Medicaid has their rules. None of them are on the same page. They should all have the same goal of helping those who help themselves. But they don't. You talk to any of these people on the phone, and you never know who is eager to find some reason to throw you off the government doke. Bottom line, I found if you don't break the rules and try to pick up a few bucks to supplement these benefits, you will starve and live in poverty the rest of your life. None of these government programs will get you out of the slums. Maybe they can help if you're young, but when crisis hits when you're in your 60s, there is not enough time for you to start over. You need to figure out some other way of maintaining ba decent standard of living and for those without family or external support, it's hard. Don't expect the government to give a damn.
The creator gave you a brain for to think and trying to help yourself, right - there are lots of social workers out there who are trying to help homeless ppl. - but the very first step they have to do on their very own - only religious praying and hoping that any gods will help you out of your misery will not work out very well - I guess - help yourself and don´t blaime it on any gods or religions.

I think it is good that the government bailed out banks but not letting them collapse. It would be a Lehman Brothers #2 and generate more homeless problems if that happened. Hope you understand……

If the government don’t do this, there would be more people to have financial crisis. Those people who will be homeless by missing one pay check will immediately become homeless. I agree that the government should help homeless people but bailing out banks is a different level topic. It is way bigger comparing to the homeless problem. The government can reduce some other expenses, e.g, the sweeping expenses, to help homeless people. The bailout money is not an expense. It has a very very big impact to the economy. You don’t want the consequences from big banks bankruptcy. The chain effect is not a joke. It is economic. You can search on UA-cam about the consequences if those banks bankrupt.
@Samson Wong the only reason why they needed to do that is all the big companies that had 100s of millions in the bank decided to withdraw thier funds at the same time. That's bsof I everheardit! The more I struggle to get an apartment no matter how unaffordable I just can't get anywhere. When I reach out people are less willing to help because I have a job. It is so hard to fund hope right now. I'm afraid of when I can't work anymore myself. Time Flys and when you have a mental disorder that affects your memory its easy to forget. Now I'm almost 40 and trapped in this life. I don't make enough to support myself and go to school and I don't even know what to do. I feel like my time is running out. I'm so happy I don't ha e a kid, but two dogs and there is no help for them. I would have to eat the whole cost of medical care ND barely make enough now. I have depression anxiety and need my dogs to live. The fact that they have no programs for medical care for esas, our generation was passed right along and didn't learn much in school, not life skills and now I have anxiety attacks thinking I have to make more money to keep them with means another job butthen I ha e to leave them. I ha e no friends and since my sister died my family just dispersed. So fast, like she is whT held us together. My mother says things will get better, things will change. Sometimes I just think of ending it but I'm waiting and just caring for my dogs first I'm really just trying not to think. I've never done anything thing. This has been my whole life, since birth I've been homeless and moving from place to place when my mother couldn't pay the rent. I've never known different.
God help this country & world.....😢 To be a senior, and have to EVER sleep on the streets, is SICKENING... I watch these spoiled rich people especially in our country, overindulge themselves every day, and just cant wrap my head around how ALL THE WEALTHY PEOPLE, wont band together to end homelessness in a country that is so wasteful.....diamond dog collars, 6 cars, 4 homes, boats, planes, and trains, but where is the human compassion for their struggling , hurting brothers & sisters living on the streets?? 🤦♀️🤬
Cities could build more housing, especially the affordable ones, but due to strict zoning laws that's easier said than done. I think cities and towns should get rid of zoning all together. It is hurting all communities and is rendering people homeless, especially the seniors on a fixed income.
At a loss of adequate words. It’s despicable that any elderly especially woman is homeless in a wealthy nation. What’s next toddlers left to fend on the streets!? Isn’t that sickening scnerio the case for Brazil or South America. Come quickly Lord Jesus! How can I directly donate to her?
I don't know where she is, but I know that there's lots of senior studios. The rent is actually pretty affordable. Does this woman not get any kind of disability? All they have to do is work with the landlords. Explain who she is, get her cleaned up. Have her looking nice. They can testify that she has study income coming in.
Jesus said, "The poor will always be with you." Why did He say that? Because we collectively choose every day for the poor to remain poor. And hungry. And homeless.
She's 67 living on the streets, sleeping at bus stops. There are worse conditions she could be in, but not much. Why on earth would you censor her at 3:15 ? Seems a lot of force fed and suggestive questions/ input. Regardless though, shining a light on these people and giving them a chance to tell their stories is admirable and needed, thank you.
@@InvisiblePeople It is. But it's the right of the person you're interviewing to decide to advocate for themselves or not. I would have liked for you to explain to her why and then asked if she still wanted to give out that info. At her age and with her conditions, there are very real dangers every night in the real physical world. I am sure you know better than anyone else what those dangers are, given you are the one interacting with the people we see. If you put yourself in her shoes, why would you worry about the internet when your only thought is where am I going to sleep and what am I going to eat? In your honest opinion, do you really think limiting the ways people on the street can accept help is worth it in instances like this?
@@InvisiblePeople But she's living in that hell every day and night, and she asked for help to keep from going back on the streets. If there was a way for people to donate just 5 dollars to her, it might add up to enough money to help her. It beats me hearing these stories and doing nothing. But we can't do that without their contact information.
Come interview some of the people who stay in their cars at the planet fitness in Richmond… people have forgotten about us, but we just do our thing anyways
Then ask why county service data is inaccurate if all of you care so much. The data for social services is beyond incorrect and these ppl slip through the cracks
These are not movies, this may be documentary, but no one can believe the homeless stories on the most powerful country on earth. Even refugees displaced from war on many countries, have a tent donated from UN or other organizations.
This is so sad for all homeless. I was one's homeless for over a year in the 80s was able to save up and move on but these day's its much harder, are Government can prevent this but they choose helping other countries ( on wars ) 😢 churches can do more but won't some don't do a dang thing but fill there pockets...
3:16 Generally, maybe, but if someone has got nothing to loose, maybe take the chance ?! Understand the interviewer though, probably would feel bad because if by any chance something would happen, he may feel (and kinda is then??) responsible for it. ......For what it's worth.
I really enjoy this channel and my heart goes out to so many I see on here. However, I have a potential concern here. She said herself that she has possibly up to 6 months in a respite facility. Why is she not using those golden 6 months to try to find a part-time job--or anything at all? Half a year of free rent is quite the foundation to restart. Of course I do not assume I understand this lady's full situation. But a balanced view is needed here--she needs to show some serious effort to want to improve her situation. She is coherent and capable of walking. I think there are many, many homeless people who would have accomplished more with what she's been given. I could be very mistaken, but I wanted to share my opinion on this.
Probably not easy for a elderly homeless woman(possibly with substance use history)to get a job that would pay her enough income to get a place.also might mess up ability to get benefits unfortunately
this lady is 67. what do you expect her to do. she needs that six months just to catch up on sleep. coherent and capable of walking. thats the criteria now. you need a lot of education
@@Watermelanmartini Thanks for the thought-out reply. I think that's a definite possibility. I still think though that having a little money on hand might help her rent a single room for a few months, or something that tides her over until she gets into another program.
Why don't they at least offer humane euthanasia like they do in Canada? It's cruel and even sadistic to leave helpless people in this terrible condition on the streets. Brutal treatment for the poor just as Robert Kennedy says.
It's not sad, that's common sense. If I had a house, I for one wouldn't just let a random potentially dangerous stranger stay at the place I lay my head at night and keep my most valued possessions.
It's common for people in pain from arthritis, etc. to rock back and forth to relieve the pressure from one side to the other. Also, people who have been traumatized.

It is the sad reality of our broken world...and God gives us the opportunity to treat them with dignity + share our blessings.
Terrible that at age 67 going through that 😔
it hurts too much
It's sad knowing theres an elderly lady sleeping at the bus stop. She's been out there several years . I help with cash when I see her
These things I command you, that ye love one another. John 15:17
🙌🙌💗💗
I got sound start it right up. Definitely refresh.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
😢 some states push them out of the city because they are homeless 😢
She's 67 living on the streets, sleeping at bus stops. There are worse conditions she could be in, but not much. Why on earth would you censor her at 3:15 ? Seems a lot of force fed and suggestive questions/ input. Regardless though, shining a light on these people and giving them a chance to tell their stories is admirable and needed, thank you.
Because the internet is a scary place. Providing her address on this video could put her in danger.
So sad. Ms. Lillian isn't some psycho meth head, she is an Elder. We need housing for our Elders.
I couldn’t watch this whole video. It’s sad
🙏🙏🙏
Instead of supporting other countries Biden should focus on America 🇺🇸
❤
There's no sound. Just refreshed and the sound is on.
try again please

🙏❤️🙏💕
Sad
Landlords won't accept vouchers program it will be more homeless
Sad, but true.
so sad from garden grove ca , no more middle in the usa
Any update on Lillian?
How can I help Lilian?
Come interview some of the people who stay in their cars at the planet fitness in Richmond… people have forgotten about us, but we just do our thing anyways
Help Lilian get housing
There's empty houses in Detroit!!!!
Start a go fund me for her! ASAP!
It's not just her, but way too many homeless people in the Bay Area.
Jesus please help this women! In your name I pray 🤲
World at large; we gotta do better
This is so sad for all homeless. I was one's homeless for over a year in the 80s was able to save up and move on but these day's its much harder, are Government can prevent this but they choose helping other countries ( on wars ) 😢 churches can do more but won't some don't do a dang thing but fill there pockets...

Working. Thanks!
Live your life responsibly in order to keep your teeth. Saying that with profound sadness.
3:16 Generally, maybe, but if someone has got nothing to loose, maybe take the chance ?! Understand the interviewer though, probably would feel bad because if by any chance something would happen, he may feel (and kinda is then??) responsible for it. ......For what it's worth.
Many of the poor end up on the street. Young or old.
We have advanced AI robots but can't fix the homeless crisis
Where is BAMN???
It's ok because Potato Joe is helping the Ukraine with millions of our dollars.
Is there an update on her situation
So she’s on the streets again..
Gee! Let her sleep somewhere decent, have time for herself, have a bathroom, common!
From homeless to apt
You sound young and able-bodied and are, yes, very mistaken.
@@PineapplePowersuit I don't doubt that I could be wrong, but please explain logically how I am. How is she not able-bodied? I am 39 yrs old btw.
I identify myself as a homeless guy.
MS may have housing. Ca has none
✌✌✌✌✌
❤❤❤❤❤
Plenty of money for guns in Ukraine, sweet FA for American homeless seniors
There's also plenty of jobs here in America.
Gobierno EEUU ayudar jóvenes saquélos droga deles casa comida trabajo 🆘🇺🇲🆘🇺🇲🆘🇺🇲🆘🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😭😭😭😭😭😭
Why don't they at least offer humane euthanasia like they do in Canada? It's cruel and even sadistic to leave helpless people in this terrible condition on the streets. Brutal treatment for the poor just as Robert Kennedy says.
The solution is NOT to kill poor and homeless people! It's to HELP them!
Sad that ppl with a house don't take in a homeless person.
How does that work? How long do they stay? Did you find someone through a shelter recommendation?
It's not sad, that's common sense. If I had a house, I for one wouldn't just let a random potentially dangerous stranger stay at the place I lay my head at night and keep my most valued possessions.
I couldn't get the LIKE button to work ... fyi
the government should provide housing.
Plz look up JW/Jehovah's Witnesses to know when the Earth 🌎🌍 will be perfect and everyone will have Food and water and a home ❤️🧡💛💚💜🤎🖤💙
0:02 lick em chops 😅😅
Praying for your suffering in like kind.
Kinda strange facial gesture she made
Liberal policies at work
Question??, why is she rocking back and forth??
It's common for people in pain from arthritis, etc. to rock back and forth to relieve the pressure from one side to the other. Also, people who have been traumatized.
Why should everyone else be responsible for these peoples bad choices in life.
PLEASE tell me y the creator of this docu-whatever is unable 2 provide cc 4 those of US that r DEAF. UNABLE 2 appreciate this. Creator: Not allowing me 2 listen (in my case-read) yr "stuff" is downright RUDE. R u ONLY partial 2 the Homeless because I r seeking notarity? U do NOT care 4 people as a whole? Obviously that is the truth.. 🤔👇🦻👂👎
The subtitles take a little time to process. There will be captions in an hour or so
