Think about this....the very track you see in this video used to host a high speed passenger train operated by the Missouri Pacific. It was called "the Delta Eagle", and it ran from Tallulah to St. Louis, MO. My how times have changed!
I completely forgot about the Delta Eagle. I think it was actually Memphis to Tallulah, but it's been so long since I've researched it. Really find it's power to be the most interesting thing. Half E unit/half baggage car. Pretty unique I'd say.
@@LouisianaRailProductions Oooops....Memphis, not St. Louis. Great chase of the DSR Bishop, bud! It was surprising to see 2 Ex-NS units on the line. I saw these guys before they had the DSR logo. Glad you got to capture them because I was there earlier trying to get them. I know 5523 has a P5 & 5522 has a Raised Letter K5LA.
New subscriber to your channel and I've always like the local trains. Definitely like the color of the GP38's. Thanks for sharing this video and I'm viewing this from the 1st state of DELAWARE!
After seeing the full length of the line and the condition I'm thinking they should suck it up and start from scratch. I understand there's no need for a grade-A roadbed but when you see some of the dips it makes you wonder if they get hazard pay.
@@norbertdx As a (shortline) railroader myself, anything less than "grade-A" roadbed is uncivilized. Nothing makes you eat a seat cushion in reverse order faster than hitting a dip in the track. I first drove alongside the DSRR when I was in college in the mid 90s. I got to some spot where the mainline was west of US 65. And right there, without warning or fanfare, was a Railbox boxcar laid over on its side in the middle of a cotton field. Nothing & no one else was around it. It's like they turned it over & kept going.
Great video. Since the mid 90s I fell in love with Cajun food, the music and wanted to see those areas of LA, so when I see that you've released a new video, I'm on it! Do you have any videos shot in the heart of Cajun country? Then the LTEX 1597s sister, RSSX 1590 is working on the former Kennecott Copper (Utah) property. It also sports those exhaust ports seen on the 1597, like the 1590, they're something else.
I currently haven't gone down to south Louisiana for train shenanigans. There's really not a lot of things attracting me to go down. I may be in NOLA for the Big Boy, but I'm not sure yet. Also want to shoot the NOPB and 745 (if it's overhaul is complete).
I've seen this along hwy 65 quite a few times and yes I would pull off on the shoulder of the hwy to watch :). There used to be a stretch of track that ran from Tallulah south to Vidalia. Was that track taken apart or just abandoned all together??
Great video LRP especially w the new DSR GP38'S! They're one of my favorite locomotives. If you have any pics of them would you be willing to send me one to add to my railroad room I'm creating in our new home? Only reason I ask is because I'm a disabled Delawarian due to a hereditary nerve disease. I'll frame the picture and hang it with the others that UA-camrs have sent me.
Any idea if they ever go up to Lake Providence? I know a lot of money was spent a few years ago restoring the track from Lake Village AR to Lake Providence LA, only for it to pretty much sit unused still...
@@killersopinion1829 Thanks for the reply. It's been well over a year since I've been by there. Storage cars are great, but not really the same as actual freight being generated. Would like to see some activity on the line, but probably not going to happen...
The North Louisiana & Arkansas Railroad owns the section from McGehee to Lake Village with the Lake Village to Lake Providence section leased to the NL&A by the Southeast Arkansas Development District (SEADD) and the Lake Providence Port Commission. Rehab work has just started on this line as part of a $10.516 million infrastructure rehabilitation act that was awarded to the owners. Rehab work has just started in McGehee.

Pls chase a train in monroe Louisiana
I've filmed in Monroe countless times. My previous video had a few Monroe clips. Browse the channel, and you'll find several videos featuring Monroe.
CF-7s, GP-9s and GP-38-2s -- all incredible workhorses. This road either has good taste or good luck in what they were able to acquire.
At least they got air conditioning with the new motors. Always a welcome improvement in a Louisiana summer!
Old timers were real Tuff !

Very cool video about the Delta Southern
A very nice video. Love to see Shortlines making it work.
Good stuff! I grew up in Vicksburg, so I've been all over that place. I'm surprised that short line is not part of the Genesee & Wyoming.
I'm glad they haven't become orange & black. 👍👍
Would like to see more Delta Southern
I remember seeing 5522 and 5523 in Artesia, MS at the start of the year. I wondered where they were headed. Great video!
Thanks Slater!

Appreciate the sub! More content on the way!
I helped rebuild the 4-4-0 at the Wilmington and Western RR back in 2002-2003.
Thanks for the video, been waiting a while for a video from the Delta Southern, looks like they did a lot of track work
Thanks for watching Larry!
Looks like they need alot more trackwork done too. Pucker track is what that is.
Looks like they need a Tamper to service their track !
...and a ballast cleaner and track replacement machine. 🤣🤣🤣
Ha! Thanks for watching Bruce!

Sure hope you start telling us what is shipped on all of the railroads you visit. Nice to know what is inside the cars we see.
Very Nice Video!
Thanks!
Love it Bishop, always good to catch some local action.. Great job...Gary
Some of the track that was shown is definitely in need of some attention. Makes me nervous when trains travel on rails that aren't FLAT!
Yeah the roadbed needed some serious work in a couple spots. Up and down and side to side. Looked like pucker track.
I really wish on that day I could of met.
Also nice video
Fantastic video my friend 🖐😎
Thanks Walter!

Abandoned and pulled up unfortunately.
Those GP9u's have been either leased or sold to Maine Switching Services and will eventually replace the GP39N and the MP15 they currently lease.
Very nice enjoyed watching.
great video
Big Thanxxx 4 the video!
Glad you enjoyed Steven.

Great video. Are the GP38-2s leased or purchased?
Disregard my comment about the 38s lol.
I really don't know the answer to that unfortunately.

They have about 2-3 miles...literally...of storage cars sitting on their mainline north of Sondhiemer last time I saw it.

I see what they were trying to get at with the logo..... but very very poor execution for anyone else who sees it.
