@Bill so I used to get looked at funny when I'd say I'd choose a week of riding over a week of sex with any girl I wanted. As far as I'm concerned if you're at a resort for a week it's gonna be pretty easy to get laid. And yeah...had sex on x more times than I can count. The mountain is more thrilling.
I’ve managed it once and it was the most fun I’ve had on a board. I’ve tried a few times but it’s rare to get enough space and the right conditions. Will not attempt if there are people downslope from me
The top glacier slopes on the kitzsteinhorn in Austria are perfect for this. Very lucky to have been able to go 100+ multiple times. Much room left but usually chicken out after about 100 😂. New stiffer board this year so we’ll see..
I've gone over 100km/h a couple of times, you just need to know the run. It's easy on open groomed runs where you can see it level out. Just tuck and lower your centre of gravity as much as possible. It can be unnerving to think of the repercussions if you end up losing it and cartwheeling like a rag doll. As long as there are no trees or cliffs, all is good.
A friend of mine bought a smart watch and tried to measure the maximal speed on the slope and got 95km/h. He didn't believe it, though the watch was lying and went for a second run to double the measurement with the smartphone. On the second try, he lost the balance felt, broke a ski in half, went in uncontrollable cartwheel and finished the run unconscious. He almost broke his neck but fortunately didn't get any serious trauma, just a neck pain and lack of memory of what had happened.
Its just one of those no fall scenarios, never even think about it just do it. Its my favorite thing to do, brother always said i was like ricky bobby just wanting to go fast.
Nice speed guys, looked like 108kph or 68mph! If the skier tucked, he probably would've stayed closer to the boarder. A couple years (20'-21') back a group of us ol' fux (over 60) often hit 70-76 mph in one area of our local resort, and a tuck got you to 80 mph, that was scary as hell. You also have to know the road ahead is clear.
The problem with fully tucking is that your legs no longer provide a suspension function. The smallest bump could easily make you lose balance. The skier was actually tucking slightly, but not so much that his legs lose a suspension function.
