  • Welcome! In this video I show the process of creating a 7ft by 5ft tufting frame.
    Wood dimensions:
    For the leg sections- two 36 in' long for legs, two 30' tall for feet, 8- 3in L brackets for the corners of the frame and legs, and 6- 2in L brackets for the removable beams.
    The frame part can be any size you want. HOWEVER
    Frame dimensions for this frame is 2- 87 in 2x4s, 3- 54in 2x4s, 1- 30 in 2x4
    Optional: scraps of wood for the yard feeder
    (I do want to note that when using the left or right side of the frame…. I do also flip the vertical beam so the tack strips are facing away from the side I’m using at that time)
    You Will Need:
    - hammer
    - handsaw [optional]
    - markers
    - corner clamps/ "C" clamps
    - tape measure/ ruler
    - power drill
    - drill bits
    - flat head wood screws [ {12}3in and {14}3.5in]
    - "L" brackets [ {6}2in and {8} 3in]
    - rubber gloves
    - tack strips
    - wire brads [optional... for securing tack strips more]

    Omg I'm only 40 seconds in and I'm impressed. THANK YOU for showing your material list and dimensions upfront. I almost guarantee your video is the one I will follow to build my first frame. You're awesome, Thank you!

    I used your tutorial, and my frame came out great! I did do 2 slight modifications, so I don't have to unscrew and flip the bar. Every time, I wanted to switch sizes. All I did was add 2 52" vertical boards and 2 of the 30" horizontal boards. That way, I can add 2 pieces of tack strips to each of the 2 boards facing their respective positions. So now I can use all 3 frame squares without having to take anything apart. 👏🏽 Thanks again for the video

    Good Job! You look very comfortable with that Batt-Drill in your hand. I’m trying to teach my daughter that she doesn’t need to be afraid of these power tools when you understand how they work, but I don’t think she believes me.

    Hello! Future tufted here! Love your logo. The size of your frame seems ideal. Just a little hard to follow along for dimensions, but I’m a visual learner so that helps. Good luck on your journey!

    I think you might have a small problem. You will not be able to stretch your fabric properly over the tack strips on the pieces you inserted into the frame. Both of your smaller tufting areas are not useable. The tacks on the strips are angled to hold once the fabric is stretched. They are only angled in one direction and won't hold if used backward, the fabric will just slide off the tacks. How are you able to stretch in either direction needed when the tacks only angle one way?

      Hey! I’ve used the 28 in by 30 in and the full frame to complete 2- 6ft by 4ft rugs for a set so far. No issues yet! I never planned on using the smaller part at the bottom right only cuz is measured out to be 28 in by 20 in…. The portion I intended for use was the full frame, the interior 52 inch by 52 inch, the interior 52 in by 28, and the interior 28 inch by 30 inch. All I do is flip the vertical 54 in beam in the middle and now the strip is facing outward from the side I decided to use😁

    • @charrop2002
      @charrop2002 Рік тому

      @@tuftrugsatl I see. So when you flip the vertical 54" beam do you have to remove the screws flip and re screw them? Unless I am missing something? Aren't all the pieces attached with angle brackets and screws?

    • @tuftrugsatl
      @tuftrugsatl  Рік тому +3

      So each L bracket holds 4 screws total. 2 are attached to the frame and the other 2 are attached to the 54 in piece on each side. When I am about to flip it, i only unscrew 2 screws on each side. After thats done... I pull the 54in beam out and rotate it 180 so the tack strips are facing away from the middle of the smaller frame I'm about to tuft on. Let me know if thats clear :)
