lol Clean and neat is the only way to do it! Especially in a plane with plenty of room like this that's easy to access. No excuse not to do it right... lol
Yeah having a pan servo seems like a small thing, until you get used to it and fly without it. You start to miss it... lol I like tilt too, but I don't notice it as much as pan when it's not there.
Thanks for sharing the design! It finishes off the ESC compartment a lot better than a simple flat wood plate... lol The added airflow is certainly nice to have too.
60 mph at less than 8A? That helps me understand the Dolphin's popularity. Your calm and stable OSD recordings are unbeatable for evaluating new models before we order them. Thanks!
Yeah it's one of my favorite things about this plane, how wide the envelope is for speed/efficiency. It can throttle back and fly with a low amp draw, or speed up a bit without sucking the battery dry too quick... lol
Great video - thanks. Interested in your choice of pitot probe position. Possibly it is at high risk of damage (to itself or to other things) in that position, although it is great for unimpeded air flow. Usually I have fitted these under the leading edge of a wing - with a reasonable margin of space from the fuselage. This has been satisfactory from both an airflow and a protection point of view. However I am now considering fitting one to my dolphin and would be interested to hear of your thought process, as the place you have chosen is certainly an option for me.
I placed it out front to get into good clean air, and without causing more drag on one side of the plane than the other. I'm not worried about damaging it, I'm careful with my planes on the ground and it won't be damaged under normal flying either. If I should happen to crash into anything, it will easily push back into the fuselage. It's just slipped into a 3D printed "plug" that fits into the existing camera cutout with a light friction fit. The silicone tubes inside sort of keep forward pressure on it. If you pay attention in the videos, where I fly there's never anyone on the ground below. Certainly far less chance of hitting someone here, than the pilots/spectators at a typical flying field with big gas engines powering the typical sport planes flown at them. ;)
Nice overview! Thx for that! i`ve build mine yesterday and want to maiden it today. Didn't you have any Problems with your Servo Horns on the underside of the Wings while Landing on longer, not cutted Gras? Do i have to print two Covers for these or doesn`t is it worth? I`ve seen, you don`t have those on your Build. So long, happy flyin`, Dude!
lol Are you using custom fonts? The built in Walksnail font for Ardupilot is pretty much a scaled up version of the analog font. Sneaky_FPV makes all the nicer looking ones, check his page here - sites.google.com/view/sneaky-fpv/home
Hey bro! Could you share your Ardupilot params please? I used yours for Swordfish, she flies amazing! Thank you! But I have some problems with Dolphin, can't fly at all and I don't know what's wrong :(
381 / 5 000 Résultats de traduction Résultat de traduction Hello, I regularly follow your videos. I live in the Bordeaux region of France. I have a Dolphin from ATOM RC. Manual flight is OK. When I put myself in Horizon mode, the plane does anything! I use the PIDs offered by ATOM RC. Do you have an idea of the problem ? Do you have acceptable PIDs for my case? (my plane is 728g and for the moment I don't have a camera)
The camera on here supports Gyroflow, I just personally prefer recording the ground feed for a more "authentic" look at what flying is like. I'm not bothered by seeing the bumps from the wind and such, but I'm old school too. I had been flying for a long time before the first cameras with image stabilization started showing up. ;)
It's colored packing tape, the stuff commonly used when scratch building with foamboard. I found it sticks well and is super light, easy way to add some color! lol
Yeah the Dolphin is a great plane, handles great in the air, makes a good efficient cruiser, and can be a bit faster without much penalty to efficiency.
I still fly a mix of Dragonlink, Crossfire, and more recently ELRS. ELRS in it's current state could easily replace Crossfire for me, I can see myself using it in any future builds too small for Dragonlink. I still like DL for larger planes where I want a "real" telemetry link with Mavlink. That said, I think we'll see some neat stuff from ELRS too in the not very distant future.
@@bonafidepirate yeah... Too many options, never went mav link, but crsf is sooo smol. I'll get ELRS when it is outdated like everything I get lol. Dragonlink on my old aurora 9 so I was cool for a minute, but most of mine have been in a lake... If that says anything and got duped into getting tryanus 2019 SE when tx 16 was just around the corner... Yes try anus is a joke
Yep, the Dolphin is good in that respect. It can throttle back and cruise nice and efficient, or speed up a bit without burning a whole lot of battery to do it. It's a great all around plane.
I've always had auto generated subtitles enabled, but they don't always work... lol I've begged UA-cam to fix it, the most they ever did was acknowledged there's a problem but that's it. They generate, and say they're published, but often won't show up unless I go manually unpublish them, then publish them again. I just went and did all the missing videos, should be working for now.
That cable management at 1:48 brought a tear to my eye. Beautiful sir, that's how it should be done

Fantastic flying, Keith! 😃
It looks like a really fun airplane!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks! I do enjoy flying this one for sure.
I just built my 2nd dolphin and I used the 300° pan servo you have. Such a great addition to this plane. I really like being able to look behind me.
Yeah having a pan servo seems like a small thing, until you get used to it and fly without it. You start to miss it... lol I like tilt too, but I don't notice it as much as pan when it's not there.
Can you tell which servo your using and from where? thank you!
Nice vid! Also I love to see my designs used (ESC cover) ....keep going! :D

@@bonafidepiratethanks for your reply. Keep up the amazing work 👏
Thank you so much for the video, beautiful. Could you share the inav setting please. Thank you
I'm flying it with Arduplane
@@bonafidepirate Nice flight, can you share the full parameter list? :D
Awesome flight ❤
Thanks!

Sad i have dji 03... Gotta work a hack for osd... But i will be running 5 or 6s and have a 60 amp esc on board!
This is such a nice build.. Thanks for sharing! May I ask why your OSD looks so good and mine it's like from 2010?? 😂 😂 😂 😂

@@bonafidepirate Hmmmm Im using a DJI O3 Unit, is it possible to make it look like this?
I'm amazed that such a plane only would need such an small engine!! One wonders what is the max weight as you flown it??
Weight as flown here is 937g
What Version is this? The AtomRC webpage lists V1.1 and isn't equipped as yours is.

Yes, love the Dolphin! Stock prop is a Gemfan Flash 7042 btw.
Yep, 7042 it is.

Are there any stabilised fpv cameras? That jittery roll etc, oof.

Which paint (yellow) you apply on plane?
It's colored packing tape, the stuff commonly used when scratch building with foamboard. I found it sticks well and is super light, easy way to add some color! lol
And black colour?
Does your motors ever get hot on that setup?
Nope, not even on the real hot days... lol I'm not pushing it hard though, just cruising.
I’m having a hard time keeping it cool running same prop setup. Thank you.
I’m also running a 30 amp, think of getting a luminer 51 amp. Thoughts on that if I can ask.
Im building a Dolphin, its a great design for sure....Enjoyed that one, guy in car....wtf..😮...lol....😏😀😀🇬🇧

60mph at 7.25 amps isnt bad.

30 minutes flight with a 4s 5k... Pretty good
..and only used about 3500mAh too, you could squeeze and hour out of it you managed the throttle and cruised a bit slower and more efficient.
Keith, please activate sub-titels ...
Yes please
He'd need to write them if I'm not mistaken. It's not exactly easy...
