But if you don’t Fund it’s never going to happen. So despite weakness of indian tech and engineering, please compare the amount of money vested in this here as opposed to the west.

1.We dont have a strong aerospace industry.
2.Jet engine kaveri is under developing
3.Usa is delaying engine supply to procure their own aircrafts
4.And funding is always a problem.

Since year 2020, I am hearing that It will take 10 years for Induction 😢.
As per past record of ADA, DRDO, HAL and above all MOD, it will not be inducted before year 2030.
Till that time US and china will have 400+ 5th gen fighters. Countries like South Korea and Turkeys will have full fledged fleet of their own 5th gen fighters.
Presently, India is at least 20 years behind US, Europe, and China (stolen) in 5th generation fighters *for an effective single operating squadron (16 to 18 with local desi 5th gen engine).*
India's aviation technology _(engines, material sciences, production synergy)_ lags by 50 years against the US and Europe in defence and commercial aircrafts together. It is time for quick actions 'yesterday' to catch up.

For those who have lived through the era Indian Military Commanders like FM Manekshaw, AM of IAF Arjan Singh, Gen. Hanut Singh, Gen. Sundarji, Gen. Sagat Singh, Admiral Dawson, Admiral Nadkarni et al; for us, the new crop of Indian Defence Forces' Top Brass comes across as woefully inadequate in their communication skills, they are embarrassingly inarticulate to say the least.
Anyways given the declining status of Indian Air Force already and what is foreseeable for next decade or two - it would have been far more prudent to have gone for developing the Fifth Gen. Fighter Aircraft with a capable foreign partner like Japan, France or Britain with complete Tech Transfer even if the expenditure would have been on a slightly higher side.
The best brains used to pursue a career in armed forces. It's no longer the case, lots of high paying private jobs unlike the previous socialist era. So that may also be a contributing factor to declining quality

5th gen fighter is a huge technological advancement leap from tejas ,we recently inducted tejas , so our pace is good considering sophisticated technology,

The indians are reported to be working very secretly on 5th and 6th generation fighters which are stealthy and cannot be detected by any radars.
Even the developers HAL and DRDo having problem detecting their own prototypes😂
As a Pakistani I really appreciate the development of the arms industry of India and Pakistan. At least we can use our enmity for the development of our own industry. Unfortunately which both countries failed to do so in the past.

I genuinely hope that Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria is made some sort of decision maker on the AMCA SPV, if that ever happens. Some of the best decisions for indigenisation happened during his tenure and he has the background to lead such a program, having been LCA Tejas test pilot for several years as well.

IF AMCA doesn't at least take off within 2025, it will start to lose its value proposition. Because by 2026 the world will move towards 6th generation of fighter jets.
Countries like South Korea, Japan, Turkey initiated 5th gen fighter program along with India but propelled much ahead of us. The extraordinary amount of delay witnessed is a matter of concern for India.
This is not the case only USA, China , russia developed and operating Fifth gen jet many countries still on work and the 4 th gen jet will remain potential for any airforce even at 2050 and AMCA will fly only after 2032.
Japan doesnt have 5th gen program they are joining UK's tempest 6th gen program, as for korean and turkish programs none of them are 5th generation as of now they will fly by 2029 and currently has foreign technology.
Pakistan, (PAF) will already have 2 different platforms of 5th gen fighters namely J31 and turkish Khaan flying before AMCA is even in development stage moreover, PAF by then will be developing project AZM there's a reason the country is in dire straits financially, Pak army always find a way to ensure there air force has an edge and that there military maintains strategic balance

Given that India does not even have GE engines for tejas Mk1A, it can be safely assumed that Mk2 is almost shelved. So this talk of AMCA, seems like a way to shift embarassment over failure of tejas program.
Everything is shelved and f22 mki (special variant especially modified for india's need )is on the internal avation lobby talks.

Unless India buys used ones, which are as such white elephants like SU 30, it will take lot of $$ and time to restart F22 production line again. Thanks Shiv Aroor for discussion with former Airforce chief and Analyst. As you know sometimes even fifth generation Aircraft can be shoot down by the 4th generation aircraft. Example during recent Air combat exercise held in July 2023, Philippine Airforce manage to kill US most advance F-22 Raptor with its light attack aircraft FA-50. In a similar friendly exercise, Rafale manage to achieve a lock on an F-22 Raptor. For India, we need both 4.5 generation Rafale, Tejas Mark -2, Super Sukhoi-30 MKI and Fifth generation AMCA to win over enemies.
It's better to stop focusing on fighter jets and give more importance to advanced and sophisticated Drones instead.

The Americans weren't offering it to us. Besides it is unlikely India will buy fighter jets from the Americans any time soon. transports, engines, radars, sure. capital ships, high profile aircraft, probably not.
Buy jets from America means u will have to lick their boots, something India doesn't wanto do and that's good thing. There are too many caviats to having the f35.

The time line for induction is 10 years. By the time, Pakistan would acquire 5th generation well ahead of it and world will be developing 6th generation. It looks that it will be difficult to catch up.
It's not that simple. With every "generation", the timelines keep growing. In military aviation Gen. 1 was 10 - 15 years (1903 - 1918), Gen. 2 around 25 years (1920 - 1945), Gen. 3 around 30 years (1945 - 1975), Gen 4 / 4.5 around 40 years (1975-2015), 5th generation had a huge overlap from 1991 onwards via the American B2, F-117, then F-22 and F-35 2002 onwards till date. 6th generation will include AI, autonomous systems, shape shifting molecules, perhaps quantum encryption, but at the same time more off-the-shelf components, serviceability, future extensibility, etc. The American F6xx and British Tempest programs are not going to come online by end of decade. It might be interesting for India to join the Tempest program, but they might want to own their own IP. That's what made them back out of the PAK-FA / SU-57 program

It's a really shame for us . I mean we can land a spacecraft in dark side of moon . Also sending humans by this year . But still we can't develop a figter jet that is 5th generation.
DRDO scientist are not good and innovative and hardworking. They get so much funds but still they are lagging in giving results. On the other hand there is ISRO . Less funds but working hard with passion and world knows what thry achieve.
If in a war with china if china gets upper hand in technology then it's blames completely goes to DRDO . I mean what the hell, they are not good scientist can't solve problems then why they are in DRDO.
If India really wants to, we can really have a squadron of AMCAs by 2026, that is what we are capable of. But as you know DRDO, HAL etc has people with typical mindset of a Govt Employee in India.
You might be surprised to learn that, creating a rocket engine is easy compared to jet engines.
It is the ability and knowledge of the pilot. Aircraft can not do anything by itself. It is sitting object.
