This arrived in a colourful top opening branded box, with images of the soup maker on the outside along with listed features and specifications. Once opened the power lead, cleaning brush and instruction booklet are on the top, and the machine is wrapped in a plastic sleeve held between bespoke compressed cardboard.
First impressions: the top section easily releases from the base with a moulded handle, and contains the majority of the weight of the soup maker. The main stainless steel jug is quite light with branding on the side along with minimum and maximum amounts embossed into the metal, which show both externally and internally. This has two main control buttons, one for turning it on and off and another for selecting the mode you want with a small LED display between the two. The whole unit looks quite nice and sits solidly on three rubber disk feet.
After unpacking I gave everything a good clean as per the instructions and prepared some vegetables and spices to try it out. The instructions mainly cover safety usage and cleaning as the functionality is really a case of filling with the ingredients then selecting the mode you require, and it will start after a few seconds.
After I had filled it I set the machine to smooth soup and I could hear it start to heat up, I then just left it until it bleeped to say it had finished. I didn’t find it that loud in use and the main time you notice it is working is when the mixed/blender part kicks in and it bleeps to say it has finished.
I was impressed with the results and the blending came out nice and smooth without any large particles at all. I have since made two further batches of soup both with great results and little effort apart from roughly preparing the ingredients. Cleaning is fairly easy although you do for obvious reasons have to avoid water contamination with the power points which is fully covered in the instructions.
Overall in my opinion this is a great gadget for the kitchen, I found it really easy to set up and use, with minimal effort and preparation to get some really nice and well blended soup.

Hello 2023! i got the same model from a flee market for 2000 pak rupees= 5.88 pound sterling, here in Hunza valley Pakistan. Though it came without the grinder lid. For me Salter soup maker is still a joy, very good quality and durable. I just make tea in it and boil water. Thank you for making a nice video!

Hi thanks for video, I've only just gone and brought one not tried it out yet. There are so many to choose from . I looked at reviews and was put off by some other well known makes , some were putting all electrics out in the home , some packing up etc. Salter was mainly the only one I found with no bad reviews. So I hope it pays off. Also it's less electric than most others in its range. I've brought the same model but mines gun metal instead of stainless steel. Look forward to your other video.

Hi, it has a rubber insert but you still need to avoid submersing in water. It isn't difficult to clean without getting water on any of the power inlets.

Hi, I find I get this error if I overfill, don't have enough liquid in the mix or I haven't seated the lid right down. If you still keep getting this error I would return for a replacement/refund.

I don't want to boil vegatables for 30 minutes - is there any way to reduce time. Broccoli for example would need lss time?
Hi, there is no time adjustment but you can at any time remove the top and add additional ingredients that may need less cooking time. It will restart from the time it was stopped when you replace the lid.
Does this machine have a self clean function?
Hi, it has a clean setting but not sure that would be considered self cleaning.
