Totally agree! For me it’s so important, and I like to know what the companies (and people) I work with stand for. Plus it helps to regularly review how your brand is evolving. 🖤
Its funny that you talk about people not liking you because of your values. I had a coach once who had an entire lesson in finding your enemies. It was more looking at the people or brands you disagreed with. Seeing what you didn't like, a lot, as opposed to what you did agree with. It was a great lesson. I have re-worked my busines since then so this was a great reminder to get off my tush and get my values set again. Thanks!
Love that idea! I think if you’re intentional about your values, those people who are not your people won’t hang around if they don’t gel with them, and that’s ok. As my friend James Victore says: “I’m not for everyone…just the sexy people” lol 🤣
For me personally core values and brand values can absolutely be the same...and your team values should reflect your brand values. (And to be honest, I don't believe you NEED to have separate lists of values for all these things - it doesn't need to be as complicated as lots of branding people make it out to be 😜). They CAN be the same, BUT, if you wanted to created separate TEAM values then those would be focussed SPECIFICALLY on the things that have a direct impact on team work and how you interact with others. The key thing about any of the values is that it needs to be clear how they should be LIVED day-to-day. Team values should be things that everyone in the team knows they should aspire and strive to embody in every interaction with others in the team - no matter what their position in the hierarchy etc. If they don't understand how the values impacts their day to day behaviour, then the values need to be revisited or explained better. Does that make sense?
