Gordon has been superior to Rashford this season . Simple as. He is quick enough.
And he seems to have the right attitude...
Gordon won't stop running and trying to attack including recovering the ball quickly. These are aspects Rashford does not posses. Sure he can come up with a big moment but I'd take Gordon over him every day of the week
Fantastic to see James on more mainstream media 👏
Here for the almighty James Alcott 🙌🏻
Its tricky isn't it. Maguire has improved and his heading in defence is solid but there's no getting around that face that he has an attribute that no-one can do anything about - he's too slow. In games where the difference of winning and losing is one goal against equal opposition, teams like Francs will target the strategy that involves beating him in a foot race to be the difference. The group games are window dressing. It will seem that all is well right up to that critical moment when England get knocked out
There is no way that Rashford deserves to be in this squad. He’s not the most skilful and he doesn’t put crosses in. You know, opposition defenders know, to show him down the line. All Rashford wants to do is cut inside and shoot into legs.
It's always the same type of shot too, a knuckle ball , same on his crosses aswel
There is hardly any variation in his play
Great stuff.
Hopefully this wakes Rashford up. Man U is incapable of giving him a punishment, but maybe not going to Euros will work
When has Eric Dier had a good tournament for ENG? Outside of the opening game he was poor at Euro 2016. He has limited game time in 2018 and wasn't in the squad for Euro 2020 and had virtually no game time in WC 2022.
He’s had 3 major tournaments to change his tactics and he’s refused so why would he now… the quicker he leaves the better.
His tactics haven’t changed for every tournament you clueless fool
You’re so wrong. 5 atb in Russia, 4/5 atb in Italy and then 4 atb in Qatar where we went toe to toe, arguably the better side against the eventual finalists. Just admit you don’t watch football
@@zerionistalking more about his defensive approach to games rather than formation... you can play a back 5 and be attacking like Xabi Alonso or play a back 4 and be defensive like Dyche its all about the intent/approach you want your team to have. The last world cup was a bit more progressive but it's still not enough.
@@zerionis yes tactics and formation arnt the same thing.
just admit you dont watch football.
To make it 26, I would without doubt - drop: Henderson, Konza, Maguire, Dunk, Bowen, and Watkins.
If Eze as a forward, it means you leave Foden/ Gordon/ Palmer.
So I have leave him because of that.
But if Eze is a midfield, I would drop Jones instead.
But this is a 50-50 to me.
Jones is wonderful but Elliot should be there too.
I eliminate 3 central defenders who are not that good.
While the midfield is perfection for me - with Jude & Foden be there as well.
But it depends on how Southgate "play/ use" them.
YNWA!
Lack of land back means need pace on left to support whoever has to be left back / so Rashford and Gordon were both a must
The squad has an Achilles heel in the left back and and wound that has not healed over the years in the center back pairing.
Why Harry Maguire continue remain the ONLY center back that Gareth Southgate is counting on? Players form dwindles with age and lack of games. Though we see Harry Maguire back in contention with his recent appearances on the pitch for Manchester United, he is, in many's opinion, far from being superior in game readiness going forward into the Euro.
Can Southgate be clinical enough, simply give up on Maguire and go for someone a bit more agile, quicker in turns, and stronger in duals playing alongside the likes of John Stones? Luke Shaw is good only if he is fit to play. He is a must, unfortunately, for selection but again, very risky and vulnerable for injuries. Say he is OK to play but got injured in the first game and sidelined, who can step in now? You got to come up with a better answer and re select Luke Shaw's replacement. Not just in case, it is a must, a priority, and the most important player to come up with (not in the list of the 33 players)!
💯 agree while maguire is in the squad the full potential will never be hit.
Does it even matter...will be lucky to make the semis.
Jim?
Ben White at centre back?? Are you kidding haha. Turned it straight off after that!! Guehi is the perfect partner for Stones. Ben white 😂😂😂
On paper, England has one of the best squad they have in years compared to the other teams. I think only France and maybe has a better set of players. But they are going to blow their chance by not getting a good manager.
Portugal you mean?
Yeah this team is better than neville, Ferdinand, terry, cole, gerrard, lampard, scholes, beckham, rooney, owen. Its all the manager 😂😂😂
@@hyywe240 the key phrase in my comment is 'compared to other teams'. In years of your gerrard, rooney and beckhams, England had to face off with superstars like Xavi, Iniesta, Bergkamp, Koeman, Pirlo, Nesta, Inzaghi, Ballack, Lahm, young Muller, Henry, old Zidane even etc etc. They were good but the other European teams had better players. Both on paper as well as in terms of actual results. Who is playing for Netherlands, Italy, Germany and even Spain now? France, I mention is the one who still have superstar players. Portugal and Belgium are strong but no longer have the services of prime CR and Hazard. Whereas players like Bellingham, Foden, Rice, Palmer, Saka haven't even hit their prime but have become mainstays of their respective clubs. Again, it comes down to coaching. I won't be surprise if the other European teams surpass England because they have better coaching and tactics

There's no point in including all these talented young players of Southgate doesn't give them game
time.
young players... look those young players aren't going, they have been included for training and evaluating purposes, Trafford, Quansah etc had good performances with the under 21 in 2023 so they wanted to have a look at them with a view to the future but they aren't going to be in the final 26, the final 26 has already been decided and they know who they are.
How can he not take a proper fit prem left back? Unreal gap
DA has really fumbled the bag over the last 5 years
Why 33.
The guy does not know what he wants.
He has had these players long enough to just pick just 23 and work on what he is going to do
In the entire history of International Football England have never reached the Final of a Major Tornament they didnt host.
English fans, bookmakers & media: "England are outright favourites" lol
Sancho should be in this list
If Phil’s not playing the 10 fire Southgate mid tourney
Talking about pace 😂
incoming 60 years of hurt.
this is england the world champions of media hype and nothing else
Harvey Elliott being left out is criminal
Don't need Madison and Palmer in the same squad. Cut Madison and bring someone else in a more needed area.
That team is ridiculous, and another 3rd of them are getting cut. If they don’t win silverware southgate has to go, he’s been had to go.
No rico lewis
We love him but he’s too young and would be redundant. There’s like 5 RB options in that squad who would be great and would outperform him at 19.
@@karmaascendant3936 I hope there's around 15 injuries so that rico lewis gets selected
What the heck is this "X" factor that these so-called pundits always talk about?! What is it that MARCUS RASHFORD has it and AG has not? As of now, AG is ten times a player that rashford is, facts.
Rashford hasn't been good this year, but Gordon's not THAT great. His finishing is suspect, and he's not exactly a player who rises to the big occasions -- so, perfect for England!
This is a term that so called analysts use to describe something that they don’t understand. They also say things like “lacking quality in the final third” and “pace”.
Konsa not good
Southgate loves that Palmer is such a rising star. It means he can keep benching Foden & he'll still get support because Palmer will no doubt look good. Just watch. He's a 🤡
White hasn’t played centre back for years..
He played there at the start of this season.
@@davidhull2998 it’s May..
The player being overlooked the most by England is Harvey Barnes.
5 goals in 23 games?
doesn't get anywhere near the starting 11 over Gordon and Grealish but he is underrated...
Hahahahahahahahahanaha
jaden Sancho
Sancho isn't good enough
Lol@@Ladioz
Only plays well for Dortmund
Shaw aint going so that LB spot is Void to me. Tripps is in bad form and not a proper LB same with some other backups. I think going to a back 3 should be decided on. 3-2-4-1
Can someone tell me why Southgate hasn’t tried to get olise. He still hasn’t been capped for France and is England eligible i believe. We should be all over that
It's Southgate! Lol
This is the same guy that plays harry maguire over tomori, colwill and guehi
I think he’s tried but Olise had already declared for France but Deschamps has snubbed him. He could just be waiting for the replacement since this is Deschamps’ last tournament to take Dembele’s place.
Rashford is a has been nearly never was
No Reece James is criminal
😂😂😂😂 been injured all season and Walker is better
@@jacob4690 Walker is better at diddly squat
@@couturecriminal8330 Ah so you’re just a deluded Chelsea fan then
Plenty of right backs at comparable level. No left backs. That's the priority.
You're just here for the banter right? No way anyone can be this deluded.

No

Ross Barkley??????????
