Would you be able to answer a question for me please? I am looking to get this laptop for a few reason, but a bonus reason would be if it is "possible" to play fortnite on it even in LOW settings. I cannot find an answer to this for the 2019 BMP 13". Do you know if it has decent FPS for fortnite on low settings?
@NK Allday Thank you. I reviewed the video, and although the title says 2019 MBP, he says no touch bar. However, the entry model (2019 BMP 13" 1.4Ghz quad core) does have a touch bar so Idk the actual level of this guys BMP :/. But thank you. I guess if an AIR can play it then MBP I mention above should then.
I think Apple is going in the right direction again: 1. Discontinuing the 12" MacBook. 2. Updating the MacBook Air. 3. Adding the touch bar to the entry-level MacBook Pro. 4. Using new material on the butterfly keyboard. 5. Lowering prices.

It is comparable with other laptops for its price range. Microsoft charges an additional $300 for 256gb on the surface laptop. 💀 Hopefully they boost base storage next release though, 128 is small.

Watching this from the 13" with 8GB RAM and 25GB SSD. I am loving it so far :) I use it for work (web and app development with some occasional graphics work) and it is great! It only turbos and gets loud when I am pushing the CPU with stuff like AI, or other CPU intensive tasks the apps have to perform. Then it quiets down quickly once it has finished the job. The lack of ports is not a big problem, I got myself a small dock that attaches to both thunderbolt inputs and gives me 1x thunderbolt, 3 usb ports and HDMI.(for my second monitor/old IMac) :)
@@KayvonGz Yeah well I got it as a special discount deal where only the 8GB RAM model was available, so it was either that or nothing. Alexander Presthus Trust me, 8GB is very low by today’s standards, and if you want to keep your laptop for more than 3 years like most Mac buyers, you’ll regret not getting 16GB.
@@KayvonGz Sure, it's not ideal, but having worked on and with computers my entire life I trust my ability to gauge my own needs well enough. I'm never gonna use it for heavy graphics work and RAM intensive tasks, and the type of work I do with it is largely CPU intensive. If the OS's become too RAM hungry all of a sudden I'll just stay at an older version of mac OS. Besides, I only need it to last 4-5 years before I am getting a new one anyway :)
@@KayvonGz What a load of shit, the way you make it seem is that 8GB of Ram wont even be able to load Facebook in 3 years time, which is not the case. Apple is great at utilizing ram, 8GB of ram will be sufficient for quite some time.
Although I am not a fan of the butterfly keys, I would definately go for this one... However, since I got myself an iPad Pro 11“ a couple of weeks ago, I haven‘t used my ol’ mbp once. iPadOS is such a game changer that using MacOS now feels a bit like something of the past (and I love my MacOS!) It is very nice though that this mbp addition is available now.
I'm the same, although I went with the 12.9" iPad Pro 2018, got the 1TB for the extra storage & RAM. Although now that iPadOS is out in beta and coming soon in finished form, I guess I didn't really need that 1TB after all with external storage now a thing. Oh well. I love the iPad Pro and I find the 2018 models pretty much can satisfy most workflows. I don't use a computer at all now except the one I'm provided at work. I don't have to worry about T2 crashes or the Butterfly keyboard issues, the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio works incredibly well & even the wireless Magic Keyboard is great! And Apple Pencil Generation 2 has been a game-changing input device, I don't miss a mouse at all but we even have that added thanks to iPadOS. I could see myself going back to macOS once Apple brings their A-series chips to the Mac but for now, I'm happily working in a sole iPad universe!
I haven’t had much use for Mac laptops in the sense that they get outdated quickly. They have never failed me...but- My iPads last me longer with lots of Apps that make tasks very easy and in the long run, more practical since I can move them around. But having the full capability of keyboard, more storage and the rest on a small package is tempting again. I can even process a short video on my iPh or iPad with an App. so... My question would be if it would last as long as mi 2009 iMac 27” that I still use for editing photos and video and all that i want to do in my office, not out there ...living room, patio, etc
Im going into a software engineering major in University and was planning on buying this. I know ill need 512 gb of storage but would you recommend upgrading to 16GB Ram and the i7 processor? Or would 8 gigs and i5 still be enough to do entry level coding and application designs? Any help would be appreciated thanks!
I’d go with 16gb of ram you might need to virtualize software and the extra ram will be beneficial. You’ll probably be good with the i5 it has great multithreaded performance. Hope that helps 👍
Sulieman Ali you can use both, it’s very easy to dual boot windows on a MacBook I’m personally running Windows 10 from a externally connected usbc nvme drive for when I need it
You should do that for literally every application in 2019 - in the era of enormous web pages (like single Facebook tab consuming up to 1 GB of RAM) and web-based shit instead of native desktop apps. 8 GB is just unusable without rebooting your machine at least daily.
I'm a a law student and I'm considering to buy my first macbook and I'm hesitating between air 258 and base pro which one should I get? I also use netflix, youtube and internet a lot
GregsGadgets thanks. I screwed up and its the 2.3 version from 2018. They have it right now for $1399 for the 2.3 256 mbpro from 2018. In your opinion is the newest 1.4 256 the better option which i can also get for $1399? Thank you.
There is no adapters with "bunch of USB C ports", so far there is no USB C hub released yet, so in fact, you can connect only 2 USB C devices and no more, no matter what adapter you use
Christian Legault maybe because I’m one of the few people that really like extremely low travel keyboards. I get it, despite the fact that I like it, I still think they should change it cause the amount of people that likes it is probably very low, as most things in my life, I’m always the odd one 🙃
i’m starting college, and I got 128 gb, because i just need microsoft office, web browsing/streaming, and 20 GB of music. i also have 200 gb icloud storage and i might get an external USB-C drive
I would recommend the 128GB because you are paying way to much by upgrading your storage through apple. I bought a 2TB samsung t5 ssd for 200$. If I would have bought the 1TB model of the macbook I would have paid an extra 700$. I never recommend getting anything above the base model storage when you can get ssd's for so cheap.
the problem is I plan on keeping my laptop more than 4 years.. so that 4yr replacement program is a joke for me. And hasn't the T2 chip been giving the Macs problems?? I feel it's really best to wait until a year after the upcoming redesign.. so we get the newest tech, with a year under it's belt to work out the kinks and if there are any new issues.
Waiting for this years back to school offers. If they do the offers they did last year I’ll be able to get the top tier with 512gb etc. And spec it up to double the RAM for my budget of £1899!
Javier Gallo Roca Switching from a whole different brand laptop, the keyboard is very big. I tried the 13 inch macbook pro out in the store and it felt nice, just need some getting used to😂
Hey guys, can anyone suggest me whether I should go for the 8gb or 16gb model? I'm by no means gonna be using it for video editing or crazy heavy usage so I was thinking about the 8gb
It's so stupid. This should've been out when the redesign was made initially. Now we're at the end of the cycle of the current design and they release a cheap (in Apple terms) quadcore MBP.
@@GregsGadgets Absolutely. I hope they will have a quadcore MBP in that range for their new models. It took me ages to decide whether it is worth it to get a MBP at that price point and I decided not to. Now, for my liking, it's too late in the product cycle as well as the not very reliable hardware keep me from the purchase.
Yes, it’s a powerful budget machine but beware of the single fan that this MacBook has. I bought one yesterday, but am worried about what it will be in the long term usage. If consistently high performance with just one fan would it break very soon?
I just got the base model with 128gb, should I return it and get the air with 256gb or cash out on either an external ssd or upgrade the pro to 256gb- a student who does not use video editing programmes photoshop etc but does run lots tabs and apps.
Running a lot tabs and apps is more RAM dependent than storage size. What could help with 128GB SSD is if you're also storing some media in the cloud and if you're good at maintenance (deleting old files and apps). Generally 256GB is minimum but 128GB is fine for some.
@@EmilJonssonReel i went to the apple store and storing stuff in the cloud isn't really something I can control they said the laptop will automatically move things across to the cloud when running low on storage- does increasing RAM improve very light gaming also? bare in mind I got the 128gb and within 2 days my system storage has grown to a ridiculous 26gb of storage and apple said I can't reduce it and it will only grow
From what you're describing (no photoshop, video editing or medium+ gaming) I would say 8GB RAM is probably fine. Don't have too many apps running at the same time if it starts to slow down. You can absolutely control what's in the cloud (iCloud) but if you're not knowledgable in cloud storage (and not keen on paying for cloud upgrade) then packing more inside is probably prudent. Go for a 256GB upgrade, is my advice.
Really considering this machine with the 512gb storage option and 16 gb ram for future proofing. Though I am not sure whether or not to upgrade to the MBP edition with 4 USB ports...
I'm currently an architecture student and I'm looking to buy a new macbook pro would you recommend this 2019 basemodel upgraded with 16gm ram and 256 storage or just save up for the 2018 15 inch MacBook Pro? Thanks!
Do I need 16gb RAM for like 4-5 years, normally using python and R and might few data work in the future. No games and video editing. just web browsing and some youtube videos
Can you please give me an help? I’m thinking to buy the new entry level 13” with 16 GB ram upgrade to use it for Photoshop and final cut editing (4k)....is it a good choice? Or I need to choose the 15” ?
@@GregsGadgets We need Face ID, is Apple dragging their heels though? They sometimes do this and never copy really good features on Windows like a secondary click until way too late.
Would the base model 13 inch MacBook Pro be good for mostly 1080p video editing and some 4K video editing in Final Cut Pro, making music in Logic Pro, photo editing and would It be able to use blender? I want a MacBook that can do all of this but I don’t have the money to buy a 15 inch MacBook Pro, so would the 13 inch with the integrated graphics be able to do all this?

I'm a not a video editor or photo editor or any media related but I just want my computer to last me for years and I don't know if getting the Air with extra RAM memory or the Pro that has more horsepower. I want a reliable machine that can last me for 4-6 years. What do you recemmend me?
Most people would recommend the pro but honestly if you are not a professional photographer or video editor why bother paying for extra features most people won't even use but if I'm honest with you invest the $200 for a 256 gb on the air you should be fine regardless
@@TheDarKing997 For professional color grading, you would need a reference monitor. Apple displays have decently accurate color accuracy, but still far from any professional display.

What's up with the storage being so low? 256GB? With all the high resolution pictures and videos nowadays, that will be gone in no time. Such a ripoff and a scam that Apple won't let you install your own ssd.
Agreed- I just installed a 1TB SSD in my 2012 MBP- and about half of it is consumed already. Just office work, nothing special. Wonder if the 2019 model allows a larger SSD. Pretty straightford on the 2012 unit.

I'm a 13-year-old saving 1,200 dollars for a MacBook, seems crazy but I really need it. The only fear I have is how small 13 inches is, is it too small??

It's all about use cases and what you actually need. Makes no sense to buy a Ferrari if you are going to use it shop for
groceries once in a while.
Very helpful video. Subscribed
Is it worth getting more than 256GB On the MacBook for faster SSD Speed or just buy a SSD drive to expand the storage?
It’s better to get 256gb then an external ssd imo
XVI I’ve bought my with 256gb, I meant that if I brought higher storage would I see higher ssd speeds
Terry Singh ohh I think so but not as drastic as between 128 and 256
Im going into a software engineering major in University and was planning on buying this.
GregsGadgets you are so on point
Would the MacBook Air 2020 i5 16gb ram be similar? :)
Is it worth it to upgrade from windows? What are the main drawbacks?
Sulieman Ali you can use both, it’s very easy to dual boot windows on a MacBook
I’m personally running Windows 10 from a externally connected usbc nvme drive for when I need it
Should I spring for the 16 GB ram for 2d game development?
You should do that for literally every application in 2019 - in the era of enormous web pages (like single Facebook tab consuming up to 1 GB of RAM) and web-based shit instead of native desktop apps. 8 GB is just unusable without rebooting your machine at least daily.
yes 16gb is a must for any pro app
I'm a a law student and I'm considering to buy my first macbook and I'm hesitating between air 258 and base pro which one should I get? I also use netflix, youtube and internet a lot
Greg do you recommend the new 13 MacBook Pro or the 15 MacBook Pro
With Best Buy running the 2.4 256 model on sale for $1549, which would you recommend as the better buy or option?
You should buy it on the Apple education website because you can save 200$ and get a free pair of beats headphones
Go for the 256 2.4 if you can get it for $1549. You will also get two more thunderbolt 3 ports.
GregsGadgets thanks. I screwed up and its the 2.3 version from 2018. They have it right now for $1399 for the 2.3 256 mbpro from 2018. In your opinion is the newest 1.4 256 the better option which i can also get for $1399? Thank you.
Keep it up man great video
Don't forget that even with the low end ones you do have the eGPU option :)
Yup. That is always a possibility. One of the reasons im thankful for apple always having thunderbolt 3 on their laptops.
Absolutely!
Loved the vid
Thank you 🙏
Have you had any probs with using Adobe programs or doing video editing with this mac version?
There is no adapters with "bunch of USB C ports", so far there is no USB C hub released yet, so in fact, you can connect only 2 USB C devices and no more, no matter what adapter you use
Until the new keyboard comes out soon, it is a bad thing recommending any apple laptop don’t you think ??
zeus1117 I really don’t think the butterfly keyboard is actually that bad, I quite like it
Douglas Ceretta Hamerski I agree with you but it’s all based on opinions and experiences people have had
Christian Legault maybe because I’m one of the few people that really like extremely low travel keyboards. I get it, despite the fact that I like it, I still think they should change it cause the amount of people that likes it is probably very low, as most things in my life, I’m always the odd one 🙃
Hey Greg, what mouse are you using with your MacBook Pro in some of these shots? Does it also work on the iPad Pro 2018 using iPadOS?
It’s this one:
amzn.to/2lyD8fB Yes it works with iPad OS. You just need a USB A to USB c adapter for both the MacBook Pro and iPad.
I’m thinking about buying it for college, would the 8GB Ram , 128GB be enough for me or should I upgrade to 256GB??
i’m starting college, and I got 128 gb, because i just need microsoft office, web browsing/streaming, and 20 GB of music. i also have 200 gb icloud storage and i might get an external USB-C drive
Are they any good for video editing?
Bring out the entry level with quadcore without a touchbar
there isn’t one
Just got a 2019 13 inch with 512gb ssd ,16gb ram, and i5 quad core 2.4 ghz for $1849 Apple certified refurbished and it’s amazing for the price
macbook pro entry level or matebook x pro?
the problem is I plan on keeping my laptop more than 4 years.. so that 4yr replacement program is a joke for me.
I’m having a hard time deciding which processor and memory I should get with the MacBook Pro
You don't need i7 because thermals won't allow it and you can get 16gb ram for cheaper on Apple education discount
Can someone tell me how good gaming would be on here? Like is it even possible, or does it actually do a good job?
Im gonna be switching from a 17 inch laptop to this one soon. Typing might be a little tricky because of the size haha
Mirandyy Cos-Cos Actually I think the keyboards are the same size and the 13 inch has even bigger keys.
Javier Gallo Roca
Switching from a whole different brand laptop, the keyboard is very big. I tried the 13 inch macbook pro out in the store and it felt nice, just need some getting used to😂
Hey guys, can anyone suggest me whether I should go for the 8gb or 16gb model? I'm by no means gonna be using it for video editing or crazy heavy usage so I was thinking about the 8gb
these macbook have got universal critical acclaim
It’s good.👍
i have the 2018 MB Air and I love it. It has the same Butterfly 3 Keyboard
It's so stupid. This should've been out when the redesign was made initially. Now we're at the end of the cycle of the current design and they release a cheap (in Apple terms) quadcore MBP.
Agree. But i’m happy we at least, all these years later, have a return to the $1299 MacBook pro.
Yep, I like it! Should have 256gb storage tho.
MacBook Air is a joke with a dual core cpu in 2019. It’s not 2011 anymore
Agree on the storage. MacBook air is a different kind of computer. CPU is fine for the target audience.
I'm a law student who goes a lot on netflix, youtube... which one should I get?
@@davso91 Air, if you want to replace it in 2-3 years because it's too slow for newer applications and Mac OS. Pro, if you want to keep it for longer.
Yes, it’s a powerful budget machine but beware of the single fan that this MacBook has. I bought one yesterday, but am worried about what it will be in the long term usage. If consistently high performance with just one fan would it break very soon?
Francis Yan take it back to the store and just ask
Always vouching for your fast videos
Thank you 🙏
I love this keyboard.
Glad you are enjoying it
I have a 256gb 11 inch iPad Pro and I am wondering wether I should change it for this laptop. I’m a college student. What would you say?
I’m in the same boat and I bought this. Sometimes you need an actual computer’s OS
I bought the 13inch pro 8gb memory 128gb would I recommend for Final Cut Pro edit ??????
im getting mine tomorrow for school! Is it worth it?!
Yes it is! Hope you enjoy it!
Just bought one today for my UA-cam channel and it’s amazing
Got one for school too and UA-cam 😭 mine is taking so long to come though, a full week
Hey do you think they release a new mbp 13 inch in October?
Go for a 256GB upgrade, is my advice.
utan namn 256gb on air or pro?
@@CineScenes_ I thought you said you got the Pro? But either way.
Really considering this machine with the 512gb storage option and 16 gb ram for future proofing. Though I am not sure whether or not to upgrade to the MBP edition with 4 USB ports...
I got the 4 thunderbolt Port model with 16 gb ram and 512gb, if you want when it comes I can give you a mini review
Jacob Dai no
Can you please give me an help? I’m thinking to buy the new entry level 13” with 16 GB ram upgrade to use it for Photoshop and final cut editing (4k)....is it a good choice? Or I need to choose the 15” ?
Should i get the 128gb version with a additional SSD storage?
Is touch ID ever coming to iMacs??? Great video man :)
I feel like we might get face id in the iMac. Touch ID might be hard to implement on a wireless keyboard.
GregsGadgets agreed
@@GregsGadgets Microsoft did it, www.microsoft.com/accessories/fr-fr/products/keyboards/microsoft-modern-keyboard-with-fingerprint-id
Francis O I think it will work perfectly for does tasks. Maybe you should upgrade to 16GB RAM. In case you need more graphics power you can start saving for a eGPU for later.
Hey Greg was thinking my local store Microcenter has one of these refurbished for 599.99. Do you think it’s worth the price? Also they have the Mid 2018 MacBook Pro 15.4 for 799.99 refurbished. Looking for to give as a gift. Thanks Greg.
what software does this come with?
Would you upgrade Processor, RAM, or Storage if you could only upgrade 1? Im thinking about installing windows on it with bootcamp.
Is it worth it to upgrade the 13inch MacBook Pro from 1.4 i5 to 1.7 i7 ??? What do you guys think?
Guilherme D. There is not much difference, it’s better to upgrade RAM and even storage.
Guys, I'm a college student and I'm planning on buying a Macbook but I don't know which one. I'm between the Macbook Air, and the base Pro. I'm a not a video editor or photo editor or any media related but I just want my computer to last me for years and I don't know if getting the Air with extra RAM memory or the Pro that has more horsepower. I want a reliable machine that can last me for 4-6 years. What do you recemmend me?
500alexGT pro. Solid state will last you longer.
Most people would recommend the pro but honestly if you are not a professional photographer or video editor why bother paying for extra features most people won't even use but if I'm honest with you invest the $200 for a 256 gb on the air you should be fine regardless
You got some trippy background
😂
Is this suitable for video editing and color grading with Braw files ?
Yes, it's very well optimized!
Thank you, so you assure me that the color of display are reliable ?
@@TheDarKing997 For professional color grading, you would need a reference monitor. Apple displays have decently accurate color accuracy, but still far from any professional display.
Again, thank you
Does THIS MACBOOK COME WITH FINAL CUT PRO X? AND LOGIC PRO?
StylizedNXIV no, but you can pay for them to come pre-installed
Greg, what ram memory configuration were you demonstrating that worked with affinity and video?
For this model, i was just using the standard 8GB.
@@GregsGadgets that is great news. I would have assumed that 16gb was a minimum requirement for it.
I’m getting 2018 model with 512 GB SSD. It has more powerfull graphics, better cooling (2x fan), double the ports and can understand Hey Siri. No point of getting 2019 other than price.
sova I got a refurbed 2018 15” in November and it’s been great. Tons of performance.
I have the 2019 13 inch MacBook Pro with 4 ports
What do you use for temperature monitoring?
What's up with the storage being so low? 256GB? With all the high resolution pictures and videos nowadays, that will be gone in no time. Such a ripoff and a scam that Apple won't let you install your own ssd.
Agreed- I just installed a 1TB SSD in my 2012 MBP- and about half of it is consumed already. Just office work, nothing special. Wonder if the 2019 model allows a larger SSD. Pretty straightford on the 2012 unit.
External SSDs do exist ya know😂
How quiet is it on non CPU intensive tasks?
does filevault affect read/write speeds? and can you tell use temperatures and noise?
no not for me, and I have a mid 2012 MBP 15 inch Mojave
Torn between MacBook Pro or Surface Laptop 3.. really want a MacBook but this keyboard debacle is putting me off.. my only thinking is I can buy from John Lewis with the 2 yr added care & as soon as it becomes discontinued in nearly 2 years I could take it back damaged and get the next model equivalent to my original spend.. 🤔🤔🤔
My daughter has the higher end I-5 model and we have started to have the keyboard issue
I'm a 13-year-old saving 1,200 dollars for a MacBook, seems crazy but I really need it. The only fear I have is how small 13 inches is, is it too small??
Hey greg, if i want to use this macbook for videoediting, should i upgrade to 16 gb or can i just buy the 8gb ram?
I edited my entire video with no slowdowns on 8gb of ram. However if you plan on working with video projects that are longer than mine, it might be beneficial to go with 16gb. Hope that helps
GregsGadgets thanks!
