You know Abbie, I watch alot of these hiking videos but I really think yours are the best. They not only are a guide of where to go walking, but also an insight into the spirit of the landscape, its history, wildlife and people. You passion, enthusiasm and occasional vulnerability make this such a great watch. Inspired to go walking in Ireland now. Great work.
If this was your first visit to Ireland you have had only a glimpse...so much more hiking to be done along the Wild Atlantic Way from Cork through Kerry, Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, and Donegal..........all beauty of Counties with their oiwn special areas of interest.......love your videos, keep them coming.
I enjoy your choice of hikes... and your narratives. I'm a 62 year old pastor and business owner... and a survivor of cancer and depression. I'm section hiking the Florida Trail and the Appalachian Trail. You have inspired me to add some European hikes to my bucket list.
Hey Abbie!, well this was arguably one of your best, thoroughly enjoyed every moment visually and was completely engaged by your ever more professional commentary, outstanding! One thing I do know is that if I were a stray animal I would want to be found by a human like Abbie Barnes, the compassion and instant commitment to the dog's well being was very moving and heart warming. And then to top it all you treat us to a delightful piece on the penny whistle!.......are there no limits to your talents and capabilities ?! You thoroughly deserve all the praise you receive.
As someone who grew up in Cork City and who is the administrator for the FB group Beautiful Cork Images (photography group portraying the beauty of County Cork), I want to thank you first and foremost. What a magnificent vlog portraying a peninsula (mostly in Cork) in such a beautiful way. Also, well done to you always appearing in good spirits whatever the conditions and weather and your vlog, though long was extremely absorbing throughout. You maintain interest with your enthusiasm and whatever is going on in your head is not reflected in the buoyant, vibrant delivery and eagerness for new places and challenges. Well done. I am a fan. Keep the faith and self belief as you have no reason to doubt.
Abbie, superb adventure, indeed!Relished it from start to finish.Your kindness towards that lovely dog melts hearts! You are a truly amazing person. The final moments of the video and your touching speech made me feel emotional and tearful in a positive way.God bless you
This was gorgeous Abbie, I can't believe 2 hours went by so fast watching this. It's made me want to visit Ireland even more. Thank you for taking us along with you :)
Abbie you should have your own tv presenting programme, you make your travels so interesting and a fantastic voice for tv and great attitude to life, you are so inspiring so well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻thank you so much
"Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts, nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand with take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away." Poem by Dinah Craik
I've lived in West Cork 20 years now and find the place very gloomy, but your passion and enthusiasm cheered me up and hopefully help me survive another winter (smart idea to come hiking in 'summer'!). Brilliant filming/editing as well. Bless you & thanks!
What an amazing video of an amazing hike! My best friend and I walked the Beara Way last June and enjoyed 8 days of the gentle tour. Breathtaking sceneries, absolutely wonderful people and loads of stories to tell when we got back home. Abbie, you captured everything beautifully on this video, even the bogs. We remember, oh how we remember! ;-) And kudo's to you for looking after that dog. Bless you!
You are a truly beautiful soul, Abbie. Thank you for sharing your playfulness, your compassion, your ups and your downs with us. And, of course, for sharing Ireland with us as well! :-)
Love Glengarriff and the Beara Peninsula, but few are as intrepid and as fearless of you Abbie. Those bogs are a real challenge, and if paths are marked out to encourage walkers they should be made accessible. Otherwise, it's no fun to get stuck in a bog. I think the Dingle Peninsula is dry by comparison. The mountains are higher with more drainage. But, there are bogs too. Love your tin whistle playing.
loved the tin whistle solo...you have mastered that tune. thank you. thank you too for taking me to parts of beautiful Ireland that i may never get to see. Bless your ramblings Abbie.
Brilliant! So many memories. Collie dog, Bogs. Fantastic vistas. Wonderful mountains. Beautiful bays and lochs. What a walk. One I've never heard of but am so glad you took me along. A million thanks for the great film and the tin whistle - what more can be said!
Well done. I couldn't do what you've done. That was a comprehensive hike, stunning and varied scenery, over a long distance. And the tin whistle playing wasn't at all bad. And the colours of the houses in the villages were absolutely beautiful. Great considered commentary. You smashed it.
This was wonderful Abbie! Your tin whistle skills are excellent! OMG though the poor collie dog that was tied to the fence was hard to watch. That poor bloody dog! Thank you for being such a fabulous human and for the excellent content and magical hiking.
What a fabulous video! and your kindess toward the sheep dog made me warm to you as a person even more.....I'm so pleased that you went the extra mile to ensure it's welfare, a woman after my own heart. The pretty and colourful houses, the views the music (tin whistle) this film has it all, I'm so glad I subscribed to your channel recently, wish I'd done so much earlier......
Thank you so much for this beautiful treat. The Beara Way is definitely going on my Bucket list. Thank you for following up on on the beautiful and kind dog. You are awesome!, and so are your videos,,,Thank you
I used to hike many years ago now I'm retiring your great vlogs have given me the urge to get my kit down from the loft buy some new boots and get out there again . Cheers mate happy trails
Wow this video was super inspirational! Originally had zero intention of watching a 1hr 48min video but there I was glued to the screen throughout. I'm from Cork but lived in London the last 12 years so I miss this kind of landscape(and bog!) very much! Had intended to do the ring of Beara last summer but got a bee sting in the eye so spent the last few days of my trip in a hotel with ice on my eye... Thank you Abbie for looking after the doggie and showing us such an amazing part of the world. I have liked and subscribed !
What an awesome adventure and told in an unpretentious way. Not sure what I enjoyed more, the staggering beauty of that area or your perpetual smiling face even when your boots must have been going squelch squelch squelch. Well done you.
1:14:41 The rocks look like a dead body below the water. Great video, Abbie. I have only just found your channel and already binged 3 videos. Amazing stuff! You're an inspiration.
Hi, Abbie! Still really enjoying your adventures and will send you a comment from time to time so you know your fans are actually out here! Lol! Thanks for including us in your travels! 😎
Abbie, you are an inspiration, your love for the countryside shines through you, I travelled the Ring of Beara 2 years ago but due to health drove most of the ay and just enjoyed many short walks, you are right it is one of the most beautiful places on the planet and the people are wonderful as well.
You are so beautiful!! Thank you Abbie for taking us along for another amazing adventure. Smashed that Like button when I saw the move that the fairies do.
Brilliant video abbie i watched every minute of it , i do hope you back some day to Ireland you are allways welcome , and thank you for talking about mental health its so important, respect and love to you from Ireland ❤👍😊❤
I have just discovered your videos. Keep up the good work. Nice to see a youtuber promoting the content rather than themselves with over flamboyance. Inspiration
I thought to watch a little of this and ended up watching the lot. Abbies voice is pleasant , rhythmic and a warm cordial on a cold wet trail. Will be watching everything she is involved in.
Wow! I'm from the other corner, the SE 💚 I'm so happy you had a great time. What a fab trip 🌼 you were spot on to check on the collie, hope he was curled up in a cosy kitchen somewhere nearby. I travelled the Beara peninsula with my son and we giggled so much getting on the cable car at Dinish ... we hid behind a rock on the other side, scoffed our snacks and headed back ... but he was only small. Such a beautiful place 🌼💚🌼 hope you get to come back sometime. Oops edit to say you're deadly at the tin whistle🌼🎶🌼
This is great. I’ve spent lots of time around Glengariff and have stayed at the Coomarkane visitor centre a few times, once for 10 days as I explored the surrounding hills in depth. One of my favourite places and truly wild and wooly in stormy weather. The forest you walked through at the beginning is some of the only ancient forest left in Ireland dating back to the last ice age. Great that you walked this route.
Thankyou for sharing your journey Abbie. I share your sentiments about such a walk being a metaphor for life. I feel this way so often after a difficult walk. We drove around the Ring of Beara in 1996, so in comparison to your own journey, it was just a glimpse - but we loved the place.
Great job on the jig, Abbie. The tune goes by two different names: Donnybrook Fair and Joy of My Life. I love your videos! Thank you for being so uplifting and sharing so many beautiful insights. Maybe see you on the trail some day!
Thank you so much for taking time out to make sure the dog was ok and hugging him through the rain. Just another reason to add to the many others for why you're my favourite youtuber. Thank you so much for sharing your challenges with us, physical and mental.
What a wonderful journey. I ride my bike in this area , but you saw much more than me as I wiz by ! It looks like I have to walk it now! Thanks Abbie !
Hi. I seem to be working my way through your walks lately. I've not seen much of Ireland by other hikers I watch and this was a real treat to see. Such awesome scenery and wildlife. You had me bopping with the pipe aswel. Mint. Mant thanks.
This is a wonderful video. I watched it in it's entirety last night and could feel the calm and serenity. Your narration and positivity is wonderful. I am from Cork but live across the big pond. Have done so for many years now. People absolutely need to get out there more and enjoy these beautiful places. And I hope parents encourage their kids to be more active, leave the phone for a few hours.
Love your videos because you show the reality of up times and low times as well. Not just the instagram ideals. The tid bits of education you provide are great and I love learning some of the history. You are encouraging me to get out and about in my own area and plan for some future trips farther out. Your tin whistle playing was FABULOUS!! Love and good wishes!
Abbie, you brought tears to my eyes, when you stopped for the dog and then followed up on the poor little thing. Good on you! I 💚 Ireland, I've been twice, and now I want to go back to walk some of the trails. I've missed seeing the Ring of Beara in real life, but watching your film made me feel like I haven't! I've only just discovered your films, but have been enjoying your adventures immensely. Keep on keeping on...best wishes from Canada 🇨🇦
Just came across this video and absolutely loved it. My family are from beara (castletownbere, allihies and dursey island specifically) and we all sat down to watch your video. Even one of my family members made it into the video 😝 (not the collies owner thankfully). You really managed to capture the beauty of the beara peninsula which imo is the best place on earth (i know im kinda biased but its still true lol). It was exciting seeing our tiny corner of the world shown to thousands across youtube! Your knowledge of the history of the region was really good 😁 i cant wait to watch more of your videos!
This brings back good memories to our 1998 Beara Way trip. Dursey Island is still mystical and splendid. I was forgotten how muddy some parts of the trail were. We stayed all in all three nights in Allihies where we fully enjoyed Irish music.
Thank you so much. It has been very inspiring to me. I will bring 11 Danish hikers with me to Beara next year hiking most of the trail you made here👣👣. I hiked half the Kerry way 10 years ago. I love Ireland and have been there several times both walking, visiting beautiful places and Lovely friends there. Best regards Inger Arensbach, Denmark
Grand job, Abbie! The Beara is on my list to do, too. I hope you gave the Kerry Way a go after, I did 3/4 of it in 2019 and it was a real beauty. Keep wombling and stay wild! :)
I have watched a few of your adventures and I think you are amazing at what you do and achieve.I am just settling into this video with a glass in hand for the adventure ahead
Greetings from New Zealand, many thanks for just being you I guess. Your awareness of environmental issues, hiking/wilderness etiquette, mental health maintenance, delight in the outdoors landscape and ecology - these are things my wife and I hold in high regard and it's a pleasure meet you even if only on UA-cam. We've greatly enjoyed your many videos and appreciate the effort that goes into them.
Abbie you truly are a beautiful person xxxxx enjoyed your video so much . You keep going Hun xxxxx much love from your friends in Wales Ritchie and Raven x
Great video. I heard you went with hillwalktours. I did the Dingle way with this company. Loved it. You must have enjoyed Beara very much. Would love to do it but I need to cook for myself now due to health troubles so b&bs are no options unfortunately. I loved that experience... And I am no camper 🙈 The poor dog being left on its own...but very authentic having real life situations that suddenly cross your path. I need to check out more videos of yours. Well done!!! ❤
I’m really enjoying watching your videos you’ve made some really good content. You’re a very special person your kindness for nature and wildlife is very appreciated. Hope you’re doing good with your health. Good luck to you and keep the videos coming!!🎉
Thanks Abbie for showing off my country like that. Epic. I hope someone in the tourist board of Ireland sees this film. Well done Abbie. Take care. God bless.
Great video! Stumbled upon your video while doing research for my own hike of The Beara Way. The scenery is mesmerizing. Really looking forward to it now.
Not long found your channel and I must say your a real inspiration beautiful upbeat and knowledgable woman keep up the fantastic work thank you and well done
This has got to be one of my absolute favourite trail videos of yours, Abbie. I know you've said you sometimes struggle with your mental health, so seeing the sheer joy in your face as you walked this one, I just couldn't help but smile too. The tin whistle playing was also really impressive, what a lovely little tune 😊
Rucksac packed... On way in September, told hillwalk only booked cos of you and they should sponser you for another Irish adventure. Great vid chuckie, probs your best yet!
Wow nice Abbie, I start walking the Beara Way end of July next year. After walking the great Kerry Way this summer. And Wicklow Way in 2022. Ireland is beautiful and I like the country.
Abbie as usual an amazing walk done by a brilliant commentator. Very enjoyable to watch. What a lot of people don’t realise is that Ireland and Northern Ireland have some most beautiful places to visit. The Ulster way and the Mourne mountains these are my favourites. Maybe something for you to think about in the future. Stay wild you are a treasure.
Hi Abbie, thank you very much for making this very nice video, i walked the beara way in 2017 and watching your video made me feel i was back out there for a moment!
Excellent Abbie. I like the fact that you took the time out to ensure the Collie dog was ok. 👍
You know Abbie, I watch alot of these hiking videos but I really think yours are the best.
They not only are a guide of where to go walking, but also an insight into the spirit of the landscape, its history, wildlife and people.

Wonderful video. Beautiful views, so informative and eloquently narrated. Love your spirit, resilience, and optimism, Abbie!
Fantastic scenery abbie. You have a fantastic amount of energy,, you have me worn out just watching you💖👍stay safe and enjoy
Talking to yourself is the only intelligent conversation you can have. Love your videos, currently binging.
You picked a good trail to walk. The Caha Mountains are some of the most stunning and other worldly ones we have. 😊

What a magical view! Loved the tin whistle. I'll be watching more of your videos.
I’ll be watching this tonight but I’m sure it’s another master piece
Loved this! Definitely adding to my bucket list! Love that you helped the dog.
And now I need to go find my tin whistle. 🙂
This is great. I’ve spent lots of time around Glengariff and have stayed at the Coomarkane visitor centre a few times, once for 10 days as I explored the surrounding hills in depth. Living the dream. Superb video & super inspired as always. Absolutely Love these long films. ❤
Thanks for your positivity Abbie
Thankyou for sharing your journey Abbie. I share your sentiments about such a walk being a metaphor for life. I feel this way so often after a difficult walk. We drove around the Ring of Beara in 1996, so in comparison to your own journey, it was just a glimpse - but we loved the place.
Ring of Beara added to bucket list.......great video as usual Abbie.
Great job on the jig, Abbie. The tune goes by two different names: Donnybrook Fair and Joy of My Life. I love your videos! Thank you for being so uplifting and sharing so many beautiful insights. Maybe see you on the trail some day!

Love the video Abbie and well done for getting that dog abandoned seen to .
Enjoyed every minute of your walk!
Couldn't stop watching, it just flowed along as gently as a stream.

Thank you!
Storming video to watch during the lockdown. I want to do it!
I really enjoyed this. I am trying to convince my wife to do this hike with me.
Thank you for the inspiration.
Awesome Abbie 👍. Thank you and God bless ✌️
Love these films - I like the way you give info about the places and it almost feels like I’m walking with you 😁
Rucksac packed...
Sounds great! Hope you enjoy!!
Stay wild you are a treasure.
this is such a beautiful video and your honesty is very moving
What a wonderful walk. Have done the cheats version and gone round the peninsula in a car. Realise now I'll have to go again on foot. Thank you Abbie.
