- Cryptobiosis is arguably one of the coolest adaptations in the animal kingdom, and evolved multiple times! In tardigrades (aka water bears), rotifers, nematodes, and more. Today we'll be exploring this ability and talking about some of the most extreme examples of cryptobiosis that we know of.

So you’re telling me, that not only am I cultivating moss, but I am also raising tardigrade. My life is complete.
why can’t i hug them :(
MAN, I'm early. I really like your videos. Also do people really think insects aren't animals? Like, I know they seem weird, but really?
My high school zoology teacher went to Antarctica to study cryptobiosis in tardigrades about halfway through the school year, and he would video call us from the research station sometimes. He really inspired me to love learning.
I really want to see you and Sir David Attenborough do a TV show together about literally every living thing ever.
"Once they are done, and they are a ton, their metabolism can lower to 0.1" you are a poet and a scholar
I'm now wondering if my sea monkeys really died it were they just in subpar environments and are now having a lovely life in the sewer
"LA transplants would go into cryptobiosis if their match tea was made with soy milk instead of oat" is immediately getting tattooed on my forehead
Imagine going to sleep, basically, and waking up 24,000 years later and just going about your normal nonsense. Probably helps to not have a concept of anything beyond your immediate vicinity.
Never get bored of hearing about cryptobiosis.
I'm getting "that we know of" tattooed on me soon!
Thank you for always putting imperial AND metric units up, a lot of people only use one of the two in their videos which gets annoying sometimes :-)
In Czech Are tardigrades called basicly "little/tiny turtles" - želvušky. It sounds cute.
I knew about water bears but I had no idea there were multiple of these creatures or how they even survive all of that.
the presentation, editing, and your charisma are a breath of fresh air. Love your content, can't wait to see more!
I think you understand youtube very well. Your fast talking not only holds onto short attention spans but saying so many interesting things so quickly has me rewatching sections again and again. Good job. Also, all your videos are fucking fascinating!
So super cool to see you do microorganisms and moss piglets! I didn't know they were also called moss piglets. XD love it!
This video really is bonkers. I already knew about the so called "Bärtierchen" (Tardigrade in german, which translates to "bear animal") but I learned so much more here. This is the first one of your videos i watched and i instantly subscribed. keep up the good work!
Love your vids. I binged your whole channel. Tardigrades and rotifers are awesome.
Rotifier be like “wake me up when this shit’s over”
