TUTORIAL DETAILS
This video is a pixel stretch effect tutorial in Adobe Photoshop CC 2019.
The pixel stretch effect was invented a while ago and there are many ways of creating it in Photoshop. In this video, I will show you my approach, which might be the most efficient and non-destructive way of creating these fun compositions.
0:00 Intro
0:29 Info/ Inspiration
1:21 Workflow
2:40 Selection/ Mask refinement
6:00 Creating the stretch
12:27 Refining the stretch
15:43 Adding a Mask
17:38 Shadows and Highlights
What kind of Photoshop effect would you like me to explain next time? Share links with your comment 🙌
How to switch to Affinity.
I don't know if it's an effect so much but how are those detailed floral type designs made? Ones like with curling lines that sometimes have varying thickness and also have leaves or flowers at the end of swirls. They seem so complicated to me.
Light Rays manipulation
Hollow body parts!
Google Maalavida! It would be nice to know how to get those kind of abstract images.
Lol i remember this as a standard feature on my old windows XP PC.lol😄
😂😂😂😂
Good times lol
Hahahahaha
Had it since windows 98
oh fuck, I need a new keyboard. there goes my coffee hhahahahahahahaha
My jaw DROPPED when you started to stretch that line of pixels out. Photoshop has so many little features. I'm always learning something new. Thanks for the tutorial!
So sweet! I cannot wait to get home and try this with a summer camp photo! Maybe a archery or circus pic! Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge and kindness 🙏🙌
Thank you for the way you explained every single detail to achieve this results.
Patience is a virtue.
Man, this week i got crazy looking for this technique and didn't know the name of it. Thank you!!!

Moving the mask to the group changed my life!

Wow, this is brilitant, i just love it
Wonderful, thanks for this tutorial!
One thing I like about your tutorials is the easy well-built language you use , somehow you manage to speak with easy English and in the same time your words seem eloquent , this really attracts me as an Egyptian as I not only got benefited from the tutorial but also enhances my English 😊
Ahmed Hamdy thanks a lot, I'm glad you like the way I speak. English is my second language too and I try my best to be clear and easy to understand.
Thank you! I love your tutorials! :D

I have tried this before but your method is so much better. I never even thought to use the single-column marquee tool, like ever. And the shift+opt+arrow is awesome! Almost 30 years on Photoshop and still learning like a beginner.
So glad I could show you something new Ryan! 🙌

Really really thank you so much fot this jewles tutorial, from Colombia, thank youuuuuu
Thank you very much!
Not only the technique and process itself, but also all the little hints and tricks are short but well explained, very concisely, no disctractions. Even though it is a longer tutorial I watched it in full lenght without feeling the urge to fast forward. Thanks for this very good tutorial!
If you grant me a wish and you have time to make another video: I'd like to see how to make the trails circular with a kind of an unregular fading/ending effect for the different colors. I mean different trail lengths for the different colors if you know what I mean.
Glad you found this one useful! I love your idea of the concentric stretch effect with varied end points. I will give this some thought and I will try to turn it into a video. 🙌
the tutorial starts at 6:02 (for anyone who's used Photoshop before)
It is however very important you don't get any color bleed from the background. Usually it doesn't matter, but here you really care about the color of the edges.
And you wanna watch it by spamming the right arrow key, there is no reason for this being 26 minutes long.
like many videos, they waste time on stuff you should already know or could get from a separate video so they can stretch a short tutorial into a lengthy one . in this case 26 minutes instead of 15
Lance McCaughan I am not intentionally stretching (see what I did there?) the video's length. Longer video is more work to edit and refine. If I wanted to I could show this technique in 5 mins but that would only make sense to more advanced users. I am trying to explain everything so that even beginners can learn from it and recreate the effect. Like you said for more advanced users there is always the 2x speed playback option or the right arrow shortcut to skim through bits they already know.
@@YesImaDesigner and I thank you for that!

Really cool and thanks for the video. Only thing I would do different is after drawing the paths for the shadows make a mask or keep the paths so you can edit that later more easily.
I used the technique to make my wife a New Years card and my mother-in-law a mug, thanks.
